I think it is . Why make this decision at a time when anti semitism is increasing?

Oh give over Traybake.
You keep repeating the same nonsense.

You don't like having your opinions rebutted with facts.

OpheliaIsntMad · 09/01/2026 11:26

@OneGladPinkTraybake
You are the poster who restarted this thread to make unsubstantiated allegations at Rachel Moiselle ( she is an agent of Israeli propaganda/ she “peddles lies” , her motives are murky, she’s not really Jewish, her “conversion” to Judaism is suspect)
When someone does that to someone who is campaigning against antisemitism- despite documented evidence of growing antisemitism in Ireland- it sets off alarm bells.
Your earlier posts about a young woman trying to address an issue are shameful. The fact that another poster supported you by providing one example of a mistake Rachel made ( the wording that could be misinterpreted) does not make your earlier attacks less shameful.

She isn’t Jewish, though she has some Jewish ancestry. No issue with this at all except for the fact that her newspaper articles make it appear otherwise.
She has indicated her interest in converting.

I really doubt she’s an agent of Israeli propaganda.

I don’t think she ‘peddles lies’ but she has definitely said things that mislead people. Semantics?

I believe that pp felt her motives were murky because of some of the publications she has been associated with.

It’s okay to (politely!) criticise journalists if we think they get things wrong while supporting them otherwise. In fact we should do this.

I’m afraid I do know Ireland well and I do know that hiding away from uncomfortable truths is exactly what many Irish do . ( it’s a human nature trait - not specific to Ireland)

I’m afraid I do know Ireland well - what a weird way to phrase that, careful I think your true feelings on Ireland are beginning to show

I do know that hiding away from uncomfortable truths is exactly what many Irish do
Maybe within your family but definitely not as a nation which is what I am referring to, over the past couple of decades, Ireland has faced up to their past and is working hard at reparations and righting the wrongs, as difficult as that may be. Do they always get it right? of course not but the debates happen

Wrong, I have posted loads of evidence to support what I have said. You reply to what I post with laughing emojis and calling me a weirdo.

You’ve supported traybake’s narrative throughout. You have enabled the allegations about Moiselle to get a wider hearing than any discussion about the antisemitism in Ireland. You haven’t once picked up on the links documenting antisemitism.

I have posted so much evidence to support the things I said.

The responses I got were laughing emojis and being called a weirdo.

I'm getting bullied here for having a different point of view AND actually making the effort to back it up with evidence.

I posted earlier about my connection with Ireland. The “I’m afraid” is a turn of phrase that means I’m about to disagree with you.

Totally agree with this. The marriage referendum and abortion referendum are just two examples of how we've changed.

Of course I have. I read them carefully and commented on them in previous posts. Quoted parts of the links @SharonEllis supplied.

This thread was a zombie. There was no derailment of an active discussion on anti-semitism. If I appear to be supporting others it’s because I agree with at least some of their points. I’ve agreed with some of your points too.

OpheliaIsntMad · 09/01/2026 11:47

Just an observation- if a poster claims they are being bullied and doesn’t want interaction - but then keeps responding and tagging “the bully” in because they must have “the final word”!
One then has to question the accusation of bullying….

traybake resurrected it with the sole intention of disparaging Rachel Moiselle. Given that the original thread was about antisemitism- I feel that the attempt was to deny or minimise accusations of Irish antisemitism.

Everything you post about Ireland and the Irish (of which there is a lot) is always negative and critical so I would advise against retiring there, you will surely be miserable.

I love Ireland! I could spend all day talking about the part of Ireland i love most. It is in my heart always.

I criticise UK a lot too by the way. There is so much wrong with politics etc . But I love England too.. in a different way.
In my experience most Irish are happy to criticise lots of aspects of their own country.
I would criticise “the Irish” people in general if thats what you’re implying

It was a zombie thread.
traybake resurrected it with the sole intention of disparaging Rachel Moiselle. Given that the original thread was about antisemitism- I feel that the attempt was to deny or minimise accusations of Irish antisemitism.

There is anti-semitism in Ireland, there is no doubt. However, I think the world has been fed the idea that we are a nation of rabid anti-semites, which is far from the truth. I do believe Israeli propaganda had a hand in this (not including Rachel Moiselle!) in order to deflect from Ireland’s early and strong criticism of Israeli actions in Gaza.

In that sense I would like to minimise (not deny!) accusations of Irish antisemitism. I’d like the truth to be told, not disinformation or misinformation. I’d like journalists to give a clear, unvarnished picture of the problems but to place that in true context.

Again, the Chief Rabbi said in December (in one of the articles @SharonEllis linked) that it was his belief “that only a very small minority in this country wish to marginalise or threaten Jewish people. But even this small number is having a very real and damaging impact.” I agree.

Basically, I want accurate reporting. I think Rachel Moiselle is so passionate and inexperienced she has strayed from giving an accurate picture on occasion and that is damaging too.
