To think your eyes/eyeballs aren’t self cleaning?

I’m not sure how it came up in conversation but me and DH were rocking about showering/cleaning and DH mentioned he doesn’t open his eyes in the shower much. I asked how he cleans his eyeballs and he looked confused. Turns out he doesn’t wash his eyeballs at all. He closes his eyes and washes his face but not his actual eyes?

AIBU to tell him his eyes don’t clean themselves and he needs to open his eyes and rinse them with the shower?

I’ve never once had an eye infection or conjunctivitis while DH has, it might be controversial maybe but it obviously works.

I've never in all my nearly 60 years washed my eyes in the shower. I've never had conjunctivitis either.

I don't share towels with people, and I do wash my face daily.
However, in general, eyelashes and eyebrows stop most things going into your eyes, and tears flush stuff out.

Annoying waste of time

I think it’s hygienic

It’s bloody unhygienic unless you are using boiled or sterilised water. You’re putting infections into your eyes.

I am 88 and just had the best laugh of the year, regarding washing ones eyeballs particularly the gecko one and bleaching once a week. My eye balls are definitely well washed today tears are pouring down my face. Thankyou folks
