What are your thoughts on Cynthia Erico’s and Ariana Grande’s behaviour?

Obviously this is just light hearted gossip. They’re doing no harm.

But I absolutely fascinated by Ariana’s and Cynthia’s odd behaviour during the press tour for Wicked. They seem extremely close with one another. But I hate to say it comes across very contrived.

Ariana looks and acts like a fragile doll these days. In stark contrast to her previous pop star persona. And Cynthia has seemingly decided to play the role of her protector. It’s all very strange.

They have both lost a lot of weight. But what on Earth has happened to these two during filming?

This thread won’t be for everyone. But some of like to discuss the psychological aspects of behaviour. It’s obviously pure speculation

You are being totally reasonable. The relationship is odd.

On another note I am really worried about Ariana. The world watched as Karen Carpenter faded herself away and denied any issues. I don't think that should ever happen again. Who is protecting/helping her? Can't be Cynthia because she too has entered skeletal state.

I never understand this reasoning.

They don't have to go to the shops, bring it home, prepare it, wash up etc etc.

Food will literally be put in of them to eat. Which takes a few minutes.

I reckon the actors really feel this way. They work together in a very intense way which is very different to other workplaces because it's usually for a very short amount of time. In order to be able to do what they do they usually have to tap into their own memories/deep emotions and will often share those with each other. They therefore have an emotional bond that arises from the rehearsal and film making process, which we the audience are not privy to. It's important for the film because it's one of the reasons that they can convey emotions and, perhaps more importantly, make us feel them too.

I think there is also a bit of a wanky thing that happens when their power to create lasting memories, joy and emotions for people from around the world makes them arrogant in a way that is different to other forms of arrogance - iyswim.

It’s scripted and has gained the film a tremendous amount of coverage, while steering public opinion away from AG breaking a on-set colleague’s young family.

Absolute genius and both women will snap back to normal behaviour as soon as it’s over.

I think it's done what ît was intended to do. Get everyone talking about them.

People were loving them at first but now it’s going the other way - but they’re still getting a lot of attention for it and so they’re going to keep doing it.

Most famous people are crackers. Just leave them to it.

What did Ariana do to an on set colleague's family?

cheated with a married man whose wife had very very recently given birth. Even bet them I believe.

I saw this argument on another thread and while I agree it must have been an awful experience for her, her fame and notoritaty has only grown in the last 8 years. She has become one of the most successful people stars in the world. Why now is she suddenly so frail and traumatised she can barely walk?

I suspect we will find out what's going on eventually. Part of me wonders if it's not all some mad publicity stunt

That Cynthia one is just weird. She gives me the absolute creeps. No idea what her actual talent is. The seems to have come from nowhere. Ariana Grande not a whole lot better but seems ill and vulnerable.

I think along these lines. A combination of a shared emotional experience and an industry that encourages self-indulgence and eccentricity.

It does make you wonder if all is well with both of them, they seem to become very upset a lot during interviews. It is bizarre how emotional they both seem to be, I haven't ever seen any other actor/actress cry so much during interviews as they both seem to.

When dd2 looked like that both a psychiatrist and CAHMs were extremely concerned and she was close to being hospitalised. Thank god she came to her senses and we are through it now. Seeing them I find quite triggering.

Yes, I looked like Ariana at my worst and my heart breaks for her. And I do worry.about Cynthia too

I don't know if it aired in UK but a couple of weeks ago on NBC was Wicked One Wonderful night. They both seemed totally ' normal ' during the backstage stuff and cast interviews. Maybe they just do it at press events.

She looks fine in the Swarovski ad she does. Thin, sure, but not frail.

I was just about to say the same. Sadly, once you have seen/experienced anorexia first hand you can spot it easily thereafter.
I hope they get effective help. Due to the denying nature of the illness, being an adult with consent makes that harder.

I mean it may have something to do with her PTSD coming out now but she hasn’t been like this before or after the terrorist and surely if it was PTSD she couldn’t be on stage either loud noises and bright lights right now.

I can’t help feel it’s done sort of PR stunt but would someone really lose so much weight just for media attention.
Its not like she’s a nobody.
