To wonder what on earth has happened to Stacey Solomon’s instagram?!

Hello.
I will preface this by saying that I do like Stacey, SYLO is a brilliant show.
However. Her instagram has become completely extraordinary recently - it’s constant selling for Amazon. One day it’s random Christmas decs, the next day it’s Oura rings. She was trying to flog a jetwash earlier this week!
She used to do crafty bits and easy recipes and show us lots of pics of her ducks and nice kitchen. But now it’s just incessant flogging of crap!

Each thing she shills seems to follow a certain pattern:

  1. here’s a thing she’s doing using an item while chatting. Item is front and centre but never mentioned.
  2. shortly after comes an update ‘so many of you are asking….here’s the amazon link
  3. she then tells us to keep it in our baskets for reasons, I don’t know.

Last night she was wittering on about making an Amazon storefront to load all her tat onto, whatever that is.

The formula is incessant. She can’t be short of money so why the change in direction and obsession with Amazon, I wonder? Aibu that it never used to be this blatantly sales-y?

All the bloggers do it, one week it's this cream works wonders, next week it a different cream. What i do if i want to buy the item, I come off the bloggers site and buy from from the website directly so they don't make anything from the sale.

Coffeeishot · 22/11/2025 18:53

Thanks for the posters explaining the cookies thing, i definitely didn't understand how it worked, although I would never go through links anyway.

She’s become a shopping channel. Each to their own I suppose .

I knew about the 24 hour period after clicking on the link that logs all sales only because Five Minute Mum mentioned it (she provides her content for free by using affiliate links which I don’t mind) - I’ve never seen anyone else that I follow mention what actually happens when you click on the link. I either buy the product recommended from the link (if I like the person talking about it 😁) and nothing else for 24 hours or find it myself without clicking on the link.

I thought your post was going to be about how sad Stacy seems at the moment - I hope she is ok.

FlipFlopVibe · 22/11/2025 22:53

I don’t really care if someone was to receive money from a recommendation if it’s from someone who was very knowledgeable in that area, then you know it’s a genuine recommendation. It’s the random stuff they promote which they clearly know nothing about, like it was just shoved in their hand 2 minutes before recording and told to smile. That’s the shitty bit.

I’ve been on the fence with SS, I did like her and she seemed down to earth but the bit that tipped me over was a few years ago when the cost of living crisis hit hard and energy bills were extortionate. She said she had really thought long and hard about posting photos from her recent holidays (despite posting a sneak peek every day telling us she couldn’t wait to share where she’s been) then got home and posted 50 photos of their £30k trip to ‘a home away from home’ in Turkey, along with the name of the resort of course. That everyone immediately searched and suddenly felt their upcoming self catering trip to a 3* in Fuengirola wasn’t quite going to cut it.
It just feels like she is saying she is absolutely one of us, but really, really isn’t. She might worry about her kids like us or hate working away each week and misses them but when it comes to scraping by week to week or living in a small home with no help, she’s living in a different world.

But why though? If you saw the cream on the bloggers website in the first place, therefore found it because of them, why shouldn’t they earn some commission from it? It’s not costing you any extra, and the way you’ve written this makes you come across as mean and a little bit petty, in my opinion.

Ten years ago, you might have seen the cream in a magazine advertisement or advertorial. So you go off and buy a pot online or in a shop. Yay, nobody got commission on your purchase, right? Hold on a second: the magazine's already been paid for the advert! I see no good reason to be happier about this than about bloggers getting paid after your purchase.

Actually, I do, but my objection's professional rather than getting my knickers in a twist about salespeople being paid to make sales. There's the added quirk that, if you bought your cream at the beauty counter of a shop, your sales assistant got commission - so you've now paid for two advertising channels on the same purchase. And if the assistant got you to buy a few extra bits as well, she got commission on those too.

You pay the same price, however the product was promoted. That price includes a contribution to the cost of promotion, which covers payments for the creative work. True of everything you buy - I'm surprised people seem surprised by this!

Agree with this, celebrities are walking talking adverts, even when you don't realsie they're being paid for stuff.

If you want to get something, just get it.

Yes I noticed that she and her sister had gone on some free trip to the US with Amazon- for selling us plastic nonsense we don’t need and are getting into debt to buy. You’re right OP about the SYLO irony!

I presume she is trying to work from home more - ie less travelling to film stuff and being away from her little ones (very understandable) . But trying to replace those earnings by making us buy useless stuff when the rest of it don’t have outhouses on site to put it all
in: very unethical.

She's not making people buy anything! If someone is that easily influenced into buying a useless item they don't need by a random on Instagram then they need to get off the Internet for their own good. If it's something they do need then 🤷‍♀️, they've got what they wanted.

On her stories

Ah okay

LoudBee · 23/11/2025 22:04

I could be completely off but Stacey Solomon always seems to post and make a fuss of all of her children apart from her youngest Belle?

Yeah that’s just not true. Weird how people make up such random stuff about influencers. What are you even trying to imply?

I’m not trying to imply, and did say I could be completely off track, it’s only something I noticed, and again I would say I could be wrong, I just wondered if anyone else may have noticed the same as me?

I’m sure someone on this grim Stacey hating thread will agree with you just for the sake of it. I just had a Quick Look and belle is actually the only kid that features on her stories today. Her teens hardly ever feature on there, odd you’ve not noticed that (obviously her teens just don’t want to feature on her social media all the time really).

Yes your right, she is on there today, and yes I’m sure the older boys would rather not be shown all the time, I wasn’t trying to be horrible, it was just something I felt I’d noticed

StillCreatingAName · 23/11/2025 23:01

Thepeopleversuswork · 22/11/2025 09:08

The naivety on this thread is breathtaking. How do people not understand that influencers get paid by, um, “influencing” other people to buy shit?

This isn’t a new thing it’s been going on for decades, albeit in different kinds of media.

SS may be “relatable”: that just makes her even more useful to marketers. She’s not doing this for fun.

Some of you need to educate yourselves about how advertising/marketing/social media works.

Including when you move down this thread it’s full of MN affiliate links 🤣

WildFlowerBees · 25/11/2025 08:39

I don’t think it’s so much the affiliate it’s the lack of transparency. We know a supermarket wants to sell things, they don’t pretend to be ‘one of you’ we are all aware of their motives. Influencers pretend to be something/someone to make money off others.

The mass manipulation of people in general I find quite shocking, from tv ads to social media. All of us are trying to be manipulated all of the time.

WhatIsGoingOn2025 · 28/11/2025 15:54

I used to really like Stacey I always thought she was genuine but I can see straight through her scheming with this and It’s so sad!

She has now bought some Amazon vouchers on the pretence of wanting to “give back” to her followers when really all it is is she knows that times are hard and hundreds of thousands of her followers (who maybe wouldn’t have been interested in the products she was advertising so weren’t clicking through) will be desperate to “win” the voucher that they will click the Amazon link, thus securing her commission! It’s insulting because she clearly thinks everyone is desperate and is profiting off that, but is making it LOOK like she’s doing a NICE thing - that’s pure manipulation in my books and I’m so sad she’s done that and that this must be who she really is :(

Yes it’s blatent dishonesty at this point. I do think one day the press will “expose” her tactics and naive people/followers will be very upset with her. She’s sailing close to the wind but maybe she knows that and that’s why she’s making the most of it while she can.

Why do you think they will ‘expose’ her specifically? A lot of influencers do this

TidyCyan · 28/11/2025 16:53

Nobody is going to "expose" her. The very first influencers on Youtube in approx 2008 would buy a designer bag and do a giveaway - all you had to do was subscribe. It's morally grey but it's neither illegal nor unusual.

Mrs Hinch and Stacey are managed by YMU, a talent agency.

www.ymugroup.com/talent/stacey-solomon/

All the influencers are on their websites with little biographies and follower counts as advertising for hire.

Yeh but it’s kinda the point that they are advertising her as “one of the warmest and most authentic people in the entertainment industry” - when these tactics are far from authentic. I guess the point is I’ve expected it from others, but thought Stacey really was one of the genuine ones

What is so inauthentic about it? She’s an influencer and has clearly talked about affiliate links and how she earns money from it. She’s been open and honest. We all know influencing is a big part of her job, she can be a nice warm person and still do her job.
