I guess for much the same reason the Democrats didn't field a candidate with mental capacity until 2 months before the election when it was too late. It's unbelievable that out of 150milluon population that Biden, Harris and Trump are supposedly the best candidates they had at their disposal.

Whereas the Republicans haven't fielded a candidate with mental capacity since the 2012 election.

Even in Biden's least competent moments, he was surrounded by sensible people who could keep the country running. The people who kept Trump in check last time around have all been purged, he is now surrounded by various alcoholics and media 'personalities' with no clue how to run a government. Meanwhile Peter Thiel and Steve Miller lurk in the shadows.
