“Shut up, piggy”.

Trump told a female reporter this. How come this behaviour is accepted but if it was former president Obama, people would have lost their mind. Obama had to practically be ‘perfect’. When Obama wore a tan suit, it was such a huge deal.

Racism is a sick illness.

What is actually worse is that he is defending Prince Mohammed bin Salman in the White House this evening - defending him over the horrific murder of Jamal Khashoggi in 2018.

The UK has handed the Prince control of our boxing, we can't criticise Trump for that one. The Prince was profusely thanked during Saturday's night of boxing. It's only Tyson Fury who doesn't kiss his arse.

No Way Smh GIF

NEVER!

SilenceInside · 18/11/2025 20:37

I listen to the radio all day and read news sites and I had not picked up on this story, it’s not on the front page of the BBC or the Guardian, for example. There’s the Epstein files stuff being reported and the Saudi Prince story but this is really not at the top of the page.

Switcher · 18/11/2025 20:38

It's currently the front page on the telegraph. Which tells you it's a pretty big deal. He's disgusting but not sure why you're trying to make it about racism.

menopausalfart · 18/11/2025 20:40

Nothing he does surprises me. He could shoot a baby and say it was self-defence, and some would believe him.

Nothing to do with boxing.... Trump is trying to make out that Mohammed bin Salman knew nothing about the murder of Jamal Khashoggi, despite the US having already stated a number of years back that his murder was approved by the self-same Prince of Saudi Arabia. It's truly sickening. Just thinking about it makes me run cold thinking about his fiancée waiting outside the consulate in Istanbul.

As with everything with trump, it’s so outrageous normal people struggle to place WTF is going on and what they could do about it

This!
Plus he has form for punishing anyone who goes against him. Who is going to stand up to a person who can and absolutely will destroy your life to take revenge for the smallest slight.
He can post something on his social media site which will result in you receiving death threats & having to go into hiding

YorkshireGoldDrinker · 18/11/2025 20:40

Thinking rationally here; he said "Quiet, piggy!". Not the same as saying "Shut up!". He's not a fan of Bloomberg which she is a reporter for. The outlet is probably a heavily-biased news outlet favoured by Democrats. He was probably thinking a lot worse but was tame in his words given he was on camera. 'Piggy' is hardly insulting and if you find that it is, then, well, no advice for you from me. It's all tabloid fodder designed to rile people up, and it's worked.

Greggsit · 18/11/2025 20:41

it’s not on the front page of the BBC

I just opened their news site and it's currently number 1 on their most watched videos.

KimTheresPeopleThatAreDying · 18/11/2025 20:41

The man could murder a child with his bare hands on live tv and he wouldn’t face any consequences. He’s a monster but still has huge backing. It’s chilling.

ShenandoahRiver · 18/11/2025 20:42

@MO0N
Exactly. Marjorie Taylor Green has said she has received death threats after he called her a traitor. And she has been one of his staunchest defenders for years. But Epstein was a step too far for her.

It is insulting. Not a single other US president in living memory would have said such a thing in public. It's a mystery how Trump gets away with everything he says and does.

luckylavender · 18/11/2025 20:44

Greggsit · 18/11/2025 20:33

Don't be ridiculous. It's a story on every single news service. I've just listened to a radio discussion about it. Plenty of people have now posted links, but here's another one

https://news.sky.com/video/quiet-piggy-president-trump-snaps-at-reporter-over-epstein-question-13472409

Compared to anyone else saying that it doesn’t touch the sides. I watch a lot of news and it’s really not got the coverage it should have.

Apologies, that was inaccurate. I should have said on the iOS BBC News app.

Well that's all right then. Everyone should just do the same then. Let's forget bothering to behave well to anyone. Say what you want. To who you want. When you want. 🙄

Racism isn’t a “sick illness.” That wording almost excuses it. It’s not a condition, it’s plain evil.

Piggy is not insulting?

Is this from the same mindset that says gammon is not an insult

Its an insult. What are you not getting about that?

cardibach · 18/11/2025 20:49

soupyspoon · 18/11/2025 20:22

This!!
Who is accepting it?

Lots of people liked Obama, lots of people criticised him.

Thats politics. Politicians and world leaders are hated, despised, loved and worshipped in equal measure.

Who? Republicans. Why aren’t they demanding an apology or a resignation?

Waitingfordoggo · 18/11/2025 20:50

@YorkshireGoldDrinker Of course it’s insulting! But the fact it’s insulting almost takes a back seat to how utterly fucking weird it is. It’s the sort of thing a small child might say to another small child.

But this is an old man saying it. An old man who happens to be POTUS. I think this would have been unimaginable just a decade ago.

So it’s ok because it was meant to rile people, and it has, so Trump is a very successful and admirable man to be able to affect people in this way? You think it’s great that he can say these things and get the reaction that you think he wants? And it’s a great thing to insult people that you disagree with or even feel are biased? That’s an effective way of changing people’s minds and showing that the organisation is biased?

Is that the rational analysis of this?

If you were having a disagreement with a teacher, a colleague or a police officer, how would you react if they said “quiet, piggy” to you?

Well, yes. Do you have authority over what anyone says? No. You might think you do, but you don't. Especially if the conversation has absolutely nothing to do with you. Get angry all you like, but you have no control over that person. If something someone said really upsets you, like makes you incandescent with rage, you have the power to tune out and/or walk away. It costs nothing and doesn't inconvenience you.

Trump has a history of saying some weird things, but I don't have the energy to get angry over it. Life's too short.
