Trump told a female reporter this. How come this behaviour is accepted but if it was former president Obama, people would have lost their mind. Obama had to practically be ‘perfect’. When Obama wore a tan suit, it was such a huge deal.

Racism is a sick illness.

JD Vance was pretty sensible 10 years ago when he wrote Hillbilly Elegy. In it he said people didn’t like Obama because he wasn’t like them but that wasn’t to do with race, it was because he was middle class, educated and articulate.

Basically, they like Trump because, despite being a billionaire who was born into considerable wealth, he talks and acts more like they do. He says the sort of things lots of working class folk say down the pub. Same for Farage.

I don't think that there has been a free and fair election in the US for a long time. Never mind Elon hacking the polling machines last year or whatever went on in Florida in 2000, the amount of gerrymandering and voter suppression is appalling.

I agree. I suppose I mean that we've seen the last one that presented - by and large - as being a democratic, free and fair election, with the results accepted by the AP and the rest of the world.

The next one is going to see that train hurtling off the rails. The groundwork is being laid for Trump's (or my wild card guess, Trump Junior) third term.I predict 'because of the safety of the country/some state of (self-made) emergency situation.'

American Democracy - as we know it, imperfections and all - will not survive Trump. He'll bring it all down with him.

Let's hope I'm wrong!

I genuinely don't know what Americans expect at this point. He has a criminal record. He did the whole "grab em by the pussy" schtick. He is in the Epstein report. He has been bankrupt and has corruption track records going back decades. He always tries to spark division and hate. He has presided over telling people autism is caused by paracetamol and doesn't believe in Climate Change. He banned abortions FGS.

They VOTED for him. It isn't a game, they chose this.

And what was the alternative they were offered? Someone rushed through at the last minute because the incompetent Democrats couldn't get their shit together…

Agree, although I think racism and Obama was a factor. I remember one interview with MAGA supporters in 2016, that basically amounted to 'he hates the same people/things we hate.'

The fact that Trump hates them as well is another thing.

It's not really similar at all. We have a government who are a bit useless. The US has a corrupt, perverted, grifting toddler wielding a wrecking ball.

‘A bit useless’. Come on….you're joking right? This government is beyond useless on every level. And we have a chancellor scarily out of her depth, who we’re depending on to turn the chaos round, who keeps u turning on everything because she is clueless, and who in less than a week is going to be delivering a budget that is probably going to bring us to our knees. ‘A lot useless’ would be closer to the truth.

As imperfect as Labour is right now, they are trying to turn around an economy that has been annihilated by 15 years of the Tories, Brexit and COVID.

They inherited a catastrophic, chaotic fiscal nightmare and anyone thinking that it would be sorted out by now is delusional.

Anyway. That's all within the realms of normal politics. Trump and his administration are not. The two are not remotely comparable, imo.

No, they were offered a highly competent and intelligent woman.

And she didn't stand a chance, because that kind of person is threatening to so many in the US.

Yeah. My cat would have been a better option and she’s brainless. There literally couldn’t have been a much worse option and pretending there was is simply an excuse made by people who voted Trump.

Even if the Democrats had fielded Mr Blobby as a candidate, he would still have done less damage to the country than Trump.

Dweetfidilove · 19/11/2025 14:22

Trump told you all he could shoot a man in the middle of NY and his people would still love him, so this barely registers.

Fasten your seatbelt for when he takes over the UK too. I can see him a Nigel sharing a twin chair in No. 10.

I would love for someone now to say that publicly to Melania. Just to see his reaction. Depressingly though, I think i can imagine.

Yeah, I’m guessing anywhere between $1b and $5b eh? 🙄

Yes, they're useless (and no, I didn't actually vote for them).

In the US meanwhile there are masked thugs abducting anyone with brown skin from the streets, regardless of whether they are a legal resident or not. The President has had the East Wing of the White House demolished in order to build a gilded ballroom (paid for with "donations" [i.e. bribes] from corporations who need a favour in return). Elon Musk was allowed to harvest vast amounts of confidential data about US citizens from government computers. They are blowing up Venezuelan fishermen for sport. They are trying to crash the global economy (just as they did in 1929). Serious criminals have been pardoned by the thousand. The red carpet was rolled out for Vladimir Putin.

Not similar at all.

It always amazes me how fat, ugly men like Trump still feel qualified to attack a woman’s physical appearance. Like they believe they, as men, are allowed to be unattractive but not women.

The hypocritical misogyny.

And he is the most unpresidential, unprofessional president the USA has ever had. I don’t see how he has fans here in the UK. He’s so crass.

A lot of people want crass. A lot of people have no respect for anything and love to see a leader in their own image. Sad but true.

I don't think Trump is acting.

I have watched a lot of his campaign rallies, speeches etc, and I think he is really just not too bright.

Nah, it's not. At some point, if a man has behaved like a stupid cunt his whole life you just have to accept that maybe he is just a stupid cunt.

Yeah. My cat would have been a better option and she’s brainless. There literally couldn’t have been a much worse option and pretending there was is simply an excuse made by people who voted Trump.

But you do get the point that Trump being voted in was largely down to the Democrats? I mean, they were so dumb that they really thought they could sell the idea to the voters that Biden was competent and healthy, when it became apparent pretty early on inthe run up to the election that he really wasn’t. Aren’t you a tiny bit pissed off that the Democrats acted with such stupidity? I’d be pretty sceptical myself about a party who tried to sell this to the masses, that they’d be any better than Trump. At least with Trump the Americans pretty much knew what they were getting. The poor democrat voters had no idea who they were getting….

But she wasn’t. She’d already been touted to the Americans previously and they made it clear they didn’t want her. But some clown decided to take the huge risk to push her out there again. Nearly 350million population and all they had on their pad was Biden and Harris….if I was an American I’d be massively pissed at the Democrats.
