Are rumoured to follow Denmark's, which include the seizure of valuables from people arriving here to pay their accommodation costs.

Is anyone else disgusted by this?! How will it work, they can take people's jewellery, phones etc., and leave them with nothing? What sort of message does that send?

Tbf what is offered is better than elsewhere, it’s not a very unsafe tent city, it’s potentially work if the pp says there’s changes on that.

Something about assets won’t change that. How can they take anything?

Exactly! However, cash in hand jobs and mini mart shops are also an incentive. Also, a criminal haven zone for the ones coming to rob and create chaos.

The culture of the UK is immigration and diversity. We have always been a wonderfully diverse country so nothing is changing at all. Don’t buy in to the right wing narrative.

Bit like Germany I guess..

‘The Germany-wide statistics on sexual violence were also sobering. An internal study by the German federal law enforcement agency, leaked to a Zurich newspaper, revealed that asylum-seekers have committed some 7,000 sexual assaults (ranging from groping to gang-rape ) between 2015 and 2023. Although they make up only 2.5 per cent of the population, asylum-seekers made up 13.1 per cent of all sexual-assault suspects in 2021.
In 2023, there were 761 gang-rapes registered in Germany — almost two per day; 47.5 per cent of the suspects were foreigners. The frequency of such crimes — which were rare in Germany as late as the 1990s — has hovered between 600 and 800 per year for the past 7 years. The statistics go on for page after mind-numbing (or mind-boggling) page. Berlin’s police chief delivered the upshot: “Bluntly stated, our numbers show that violence in Berlin is young, male, and has a non-German background.” What is straining German law enforcement (and society) is the sheer number of young male asylum-seekers. Germany famously relaxed its border controls in 2015-2016, permitting an influx of some 1.3 million people from countries such as Syria, Afghanistan, Iran, and Turkey. Then as now, about 70 per cent of asylum-seekers were male and most are under 35 years old.Current numbers are off this peak but still high: in 2023, 351,000 asylum-seekers entered Germany, more than the population of Germany’s former capital Bonn. Most of these men have no German skills, little education (a 2016 study revealed only 34 per cent could read the Latin alphabet), no experience with alcohol, and no experience interacting with women not related to them.’

No idea why you keep linking statistics to Germany, they are not relevant to the UK at all and I don’t even know the veracity of those claims, I just don’t believe them at all.

Of course you don’t. Look at the evidence in the link.

Why Germany? Thanks for asking. Because it’s very similar to the uk. Except Germany has (now) been allowed to collect and publish data on foreign / immigrant crime including sex offences. Its horrific. We are not allowed to see such data in the uk.

As the article says - acknowledging the unspeakable.

That's not true at all. We've been fairly homogeneous until the late 90s. There's been more immigration in the last 20 years or so than the last 1000 years. Its massive and unprecedented. And we can all see it (assuming we can see).

There is no point to this type of data other than to sow division and hate. If there are discrepancies between ethnic crime rates then they are usually explained by oppression by the majority group but that’s never factored into the statistics. And then you end up with the grooming fiasco like in this country, where people now associate grooming gangs with Pakistani Brits when is actually a white British thing.

So you don’t understand proportionality either. Dearie me.

No that’s not the case at all. Black people were actually the very first Britons, they likely built Stonehenge and even many skeletons have been found of black Anglo Saxons. Also look at Cheddarman who is one of our oldest ancestors, he wouldn’t look out of place in modern sub Saharan Africa. We owe our very existence as a nation to diversity.

Well actually its mainly a Pakistani Muslim thing carried out mainly by members of particular Pakistani tribes against non Muslim children. Fact, unfortunately.

Swiftasthewind · 17/11/2025 12:38

And also the BBC did a wonderful series recently that showed a realistic depiction of the actual demographics of 11th century England. Clue, it’s very diverse actually.

I think if I was an asylum seeker fleeing a war torn country I would give anything to escape. Nothing is for free for anyone

Ok so?

Hmmm..topical....the BBC dont have an agenda at all do they...

Most of what they put out is lies especially children's programmes on "diversity in history".

We can't all have what we deserve. That's life.

Nice. Let's hope they don't forget to harvest any gold teeth too. Maybe we could insist they all donate a kidney?

Indeed.

There's a huge problem with second generation immigrants and radicalisation, for all the left trot out the "see, British!" as some sort of attempted gotcha.
Eg. the Bataclan killers were French and Belgian-born. The Manchester attacker was born in Britain. Etc.

Embarrasing for them really.

Oh stop it. You're talking utter rubbish. Britain has not always been a diverse country. Where were all the people who were actually from here and who were of course most of the population? In the last 1000 years the main period of immigration was this century.

There's nothing wrong with us being a mainly white country until very recently. Its simple fact. No need to make up stuff to pretend we were multi cultural. Look at any photo taken in this country in the last 100 years. We were never "diverse" until recently.

Being born here does not automatically presume you are born with British values unfortunately.

Actually most of this has been disproved.

cobrakaieaglefang · 17/11/2025 13:04

Simple answer is settlement loans and requirements for insurance to pay for health and education. No entitlement to state services. A loan to pay for accommodation privately.

We have the ability, students have loans that are repayable.

Im amazed at how many can afford to flee war torn countries, pay traffickers. If disaster struck here, I could probably afford to get as far as Dover and no further.

So you explain the disproportionate number of serious crimes committed by some of these groups as a consequence of the oppression they experience?
seriously?
the population has changed out of all recognition in the past few decades. And whilst many people have added to and contribute to this county, it’s clear many haven’t and anger is growing.
