To wonder if people prefer the last government to this one?

The amount of people who are saying they hate this government and would vote reform.
So let me get this straight: many would rather vote for someone who was a member of the facist party at university than labour? Er...ok then. It seems to me that most people are fairly racist and blame others for the state of the economy; immigrants, the disabled, sinle parents, working class etc.

The last government gave us Brexit which was a nightmare and landed us in the shit economically.
At least the roads are getting repaired under labour which is a tangible use of my taxes....and yet people moan about paying more taxes.

Im not saying Labour are amazing...tjey are not but are they worse than the tories?

It is because they were happy to let poor people suffer via tax cuts but now it might affect them..oh no. 😳

hattie43 · 12/11/2025 07:02

The last government gave us brevit following a democratic vote . The public voted for Brexit . It didn’t give us what was promised . Rather like this Labour Government.

unsync · 12/11/2025 07:05

@malificent7 There was a referendum on whether the UK should leave the EU. The electorate decided, not the Tory government. Local roads are dealt with by local not centralised government. Its great you are engaging in politics, but you seem to lack understanding of how the system actually works at national, regional and local level.

Cel77 · 12/11/2025 07:06

I like them They're sensible, addressing the big issues of the country, decent, not trying to grab headlines with unverified dramatic claims. They're pragmatic and looking at long term solutions.
They know what they're doing, work hard and don't spend their time pandering to the tabloids.

I hope we never see Reform up there because it will be an absolute sh*t show with all of them running like headless chickens, infighting, blaming everyone for their shortcomings, not getting anything done properly

The Tories ? Nah...

This one is fine. It feels like the country is run by sensible grown-ups . It hasn't been for years.

youalright · 12/11/2025 07:08

I think they're all as bad as each other

HRTQueen · 12/11/2025 07:08

Have no regrets over voting Labour the previous 14 years have been so damaging to the country and we are in a place that will take years to recover. Brexit was promised by the Tories as an election pledge (but all MP’s that supported having a referendum are to hold the blame ffs what were they thinking) and the cuts to public services was shameful while the rich have been allowed to get richer

But people’s memories can be short when it comes to politics, the Tories will certainly win back support though I would rather they gained if Reform loses support and the majority of people have little interest in politics until elections and that’s when leadership and a good campaign can make such a difference

Labour have to improve their connection to the public to stay in power not just improve the economic performance

tinytemper66 · 12/11/2025 07:10

No.

LilySad91 · 12/11/2025 07:16

This government is exactly the same as the last government, just slightly more incompetent

BettysRoasties · 12/11/2025 07:16

Well so far it doesn’t see any better.

I can’t say Brexit is a Tory thing really we the people were simply offered a vote on it. Those who voted triggered it.

Would I vote for Labour at the next election not a chance in hell.

Though it’s all just pigs wearing a different colour rosette these days.

MyLimeGuide · 12/11/2025 07:27

Yes previous government were better Rishi should have had a chance.

Updde · 12/11/2025 07:29

Mumdiva99 · 12/11/2025 06:26

The tories gave us Boris - who made us lock down and lied to us as he didn't follow it, nor did he ensure those who worked for him followed it. I will never forgive or forget that. Even when it all came out the Tories still supported him. I can never trust a party that supports lies.

Yep. I will never understand how easily people overlook and forget this. I will never forget the absolute immorality with which the Tories acted during COVID - they showed extremely clearly how they viewed the general public, with utter contempt and they wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire. People died alone and terrified, while they did whatever they liked and laughed all the way to the bank. How anyone can vote for them is astounding.

Glowingup · 12/11/2025 07:29

Sorry, who exactly was a member of the fascist party at university? Universities don’t tend to allow fascist parties (and conservatism is not fascism).

MyLimeGuide · 12/11/2025 07:30

BBB - bring boris back!

Freysimo · 12/11/2025 07:31

BBC news is headlining Starmer's job under threat. I fear whoever comes next will be worse.

Carolynpig · 12/11/2025 07:32

I wish they were more left wing and I don’t agree with some of the things they do but I’ve seen my local town get money spent on it, I now have an nhs dentist and I’m on a four month waiting list for a joint replacement with the nhs. We live in an area which is one of the most deprived in the U.K. so things are definitely going in the right direction l

AmusedMaker · 12/11/2025 07:32

Feels like this Labour government have been in power for about 20 years, can’t believe the election was just over a year ago.
I hope to god they don’t get in again. Extremely disappointed.

You cant trust BBC though....

bozzabollix · 12/11/2025 07:35

Absolutely prefer this government to the last. We were a joke under the Tories, they mismanaged and they were thoroughly corrupt.

SlothMama14 · 12/11/2025 07:36

God no. Labour have been shit so far but the Tories were evil. So many of our current problems - need for tax rises, child poverty and teacher retainment crisis to name just a few - are the direct result of Tory policy.

Thoroughly corrupt …. Remind me how many Labour government ministers have gone since election ? They are all as bad as each other

Are you actually serious? How on earth do you conclude basically anything that has happened in the last year or so 'sensible' or 'grown-up'?
I am naturally a Tory, although I didn't vote for them this time (nor Reform) but I do try to be fair and not think along party lines.
But I do think it is amazing that Labour supporters are still cutting them so much slack for disaster after disaster and defending policies and cock-ups in a way they never would if they were Tory policies or cock-ups.
Also that the fact that the last Government had to deal with the unprecedented pandemic is brushed aside.
'The Tories Would Be Worse' is repeated over and over again but that's a pretty low bar to support a Goverment.
It's OK Labour incessantly banging on about the problems they were left, but the question is, what are they doing to make it better?
Not much as far as I can see.
Grown-ups indeed.

Slothlydoesit · 12/11/2025 08:02

I voted for labour for some hope, particularly on NHS and for more fairness and a better life for those who work hard.

I massively regret it. It feels like a race to the bottom, constant negativity, tax rises and increasing government handouts to those who don’t contribute.

I feel like this labour govt prioritise those who do nothing and contribute nothing over those who do and are struggling to make a better life for themselves and their kids.

Covid and a few unexpected global problems left us I the shit too.
Labour gave us tax credits in the 90's allowing working families to work 16 hours and be topped up by hundreds of pounds of tax payer money for nothing. They created pension credit making those who hadn't paid in a couple of pounds worse off than those who paid in for 40/50 years.
All unaffordable.
UC had to have conditions attached to it to make people get a job and the child allowances capped at 2 children to stop people having kids for a payrise and an excuse not to work.
Labour have always been the party that came to power with a surplus - they would then spend it all and the tories would have to step in and sort the mess.
This time there was already no money and Labour can't work out what to do.
Labour are the party of the shirker.
I've never been better off under a Labour government and I earn no where near even the median wage for UK.
As a worker getting no state help I expect to be worse off again on Nov 26 - however the benefits brigade will be fine.
And if they are targeted no doubt they will scream unfair! and some out of touch back benchers will come along and save their payments.

Starzinsky · 12/11/2025 08:05

We had our roads repaired under tories so I can't give labour credit for that one.

I don't think labour understand economics and I know many people who are working less or avoiding work as the tax / benefit arrangements don't incentivise working, which is crazy.

The nhs is actually now in a worse state in term of disorganisation and productivity.

Vaninees · 12/11/2025 08:08

The amount of hatred and contempt toward Starmer that I hear everywhere.. it’s universal. People genuinely loathe him. It is a new level of low. There is zero trust in him. Incredible really.
