DSis is skimping on Christmas because she’s obsessed with her Skye trip?

DSis has announced on the family chat that she’s doing a smaller Christmas this year so she and BIL can save for their big Isle of Skye holiday next summer.
Fine in theory, except last year she happily accepted the tasteful and expensive pile of gifts I bought for them both, and now I am apparently only getting a little token.

DM has already chimed in with something about memories meaning more than materialistic things which pissed me off.

AIBU to think she can save for her holiday without cheaping out on me and the rest of the family?????

Tasteful & expensive pile of gifts.
You need to stop doing that, IMO.

Good grief OP. You’re a grown adult - why on earth do you need a big pile of gifts for Christmas? I agree with your DSis - experiences are much more valuable than meaningless tat bought for the sake of it. If you feel so strongly about it then don’t get her anything. I really don’t think she’d care. My siblings and I certainly don’t go fussing over each other - nobody takes offence as we’re grown adults with our own expenses and lives. Christmas is about memories and quality time spent with loved ones, not gifts.

Yeah. Proper present. I can make jam in my sleep.

As long as your family are all on board it’s not an issue.

Yes that's true. If everyone is the same about it, it doesnt matter.

Yeah. Proper present. I can make jam in my sleep.

A proper present is something somebody gives me, thereby showing they spent time and/or money in thinking of me.

People can get far too carried away with Christmas! Maybe she just doesn't want to have to spend loads at Christmas in general? I spend 20-30 on adults, nieces/nephews, maybe 50ish on my mum. Me and DH aren't even doing gifts for each other this year because there's nothing we want/need!

You obviously only give to receive, and receive to the same amount.
You seem very greedy.
