Prices are going up and I can’t get everything I need… AIBU?

Stop shopping there and go somewhere else then. Confused

VoodooQualities · 05/11/2025 22:51

What on earth are you doing wasting your time at Aldi when there'll be a perfectly good Lidl just down the road.

FaitesVosJeux · 05/11/2025 22:53

Prices are going up everywhere. Aldi/Lidl have never kept ranges as comprehensive as the big 4.
Shelves in our Asda are frequently bare.

Have you only just noticed that everything everywhere is shit?

Terrytheweasel · 05/11/2025 22:55

Went to Asda tonight and a basket of shopping was 40 quid and a lot of the shelves were bare. I normally shop at Aldi.

Pinepeak2434 · 05/11/2025 22:57

Yes, there’s endless videos on various platforms about this, and most of the comments are from people saying they’ve stopped shopping there. I’ve also noticed that their own-brand “dupe” products are often almost the same price as the branded items. On top of that, Sainsbury’s price-match policy doesn’t help, all Aldi ends up doing is raising their prices.

CosySeason · 05/11/2025 22:57

I’d never liked Aldi. They are no cheaper than better quality shops.

unicorntail · 05/11/2025 22:57

And their cheddar cheese is hard and crumbly

fishtank12345 · 05/11/2025 22:59

We shop mainly in tesco as enjoy club card. We buy meat from m &s , we do bready things at aldi as kids like the pain au chocolate , bread, pancakes, chocolate, crisps , treats and middle aisles lol

Im iffy about buying their dairy now after that cow food addictive thing. Can't remember name. The fresh fish always stinks too and I hate the vacuum sealed mince.

berlinbaby2025 · 05/11/2025 23:02

It’s not cheap anymore and hasn’t been for a long time. I just can’t understand the obsession on MN with this supermarket - it’s only a bit cheaper than other supermarkets, the quality of their own suffer is poor and shopping there is invariably a slightly grim experience,

Now ASDA is a good example of a store going downhill. Top prices, but average products. It needs consigning to the history books.

Tryingatleast · 05/11/2025 23:10

Still love it for juices, yoghurts, water and some fruit and veg

MeouwKing · 05/11/2025 23:15

Wasn't it always down hill?

Wasn't it always down hill?

I don’t think so.
It’s not a pleasant experience like going to Waitrose but for value for money, you can’t beat it. Limited products of course - that’s how they keep prices down but some are excellent quality
I always find myself shopping there over anywhere else because my money goes so much further.

Well they have at least 5 different types of cheddar, so they can’t all be like that!

BIWI · 05/11/2025 23:27

Actually my local Aldi is a great place to shop. Clean, well maintained by staff and easy to shop. Good ranges. And the staff are always really helpful.

I suspect we have anti-Aldi trolls/bots on here.

dementedpixie · 05/11/2025 23:33

They had lovely Scottish strawberries yesterday and today. I needed them for my cake and chocolate dipped strawberries. Ds likes their fibre bars and their brioche burger buns are good too

CranfordScones · 05/11/2025 23:48

I've noticed a few things take longer to be restocked but it's probably because their supply chain is more cost-effective. I think it's still a very good place to shop. They seem to treat their staff well, which counts for something in my estimation.

TeaRoseTallulah · 05/11/2025 23:51

I loved Aldi and my shopping was 40 quid a week cheaper than Tescos. It's not now, there's barely any difference, only a few things like dried fruit and curry sauce I get from Aldi now. Plus tescos delivers which has been a God send recently.

FightingFish · 06/11/2025 00:01

I think it is a bit cheaper than others, I tend to alternate between supermarkets and go there about once every two months. Now that they have diy tills the experience is a lot better, not having to cope with items being put through the till at 100 mph.

MrsSkylerWhite · 06/11/2025 00:15

Love Aldi 🤷‍♀️

DrPrunesqualer · 06/11/2025 00:21

We only shop in Aldi and Lidl. Aldi more as it’s nearer
We love it and has everything we need

DrPrunesqualer · 06/11/2025 00:22

Their cheese is great. Especially the mature

I prefer the experience
No crap music
No waiting to be served
Everything you need but you’re not bombarded with a trillion different types of the same product
Smaller so you get around quicker
win win

Same. Mine is immaculate, well stocked and always has the special buys. They even gave me flowers after I helped at a car accident
my dads local is so bad he drives to mine under the “I’ll pop in for a coffee… oh shall we go to Aldi”

i have a cheese in the fridge that is so good from them and it’s crunchy with salt crystals. Genuinely can’t think of anything I have tried and actively disliked
