Asda are the worst supermarket

AsdaAreTheWorst · 04/11/2025 22:33

The service from Asda is getting worse and worse.

My recent order didn't arrive even though it says delivered. Customer service are terrible - saying they can't get hold of the store and to call back later. Next attempt they put me on hold and then the call just ended.

Think I'm going to delete my account and never shop there again.

AIBU to think they are the worst supermarket in the UK?

I've never had a problem with Asda deliverys. So no, I don't think they are the worst.

Gerranium · 04/11/2025 22:36

Yes, they’ve always been my least favourite, but I think that’s because I don’t like their colour scheme.

mumofoneAloneandwell · 04/11/2025 22:37

I kind of think so tbh

Gone very downhill

Their rewards programme is stupid. Their prices are insane.

Theyre supposed to be a budget supermarket, but honestly, theres not much difference in price from sainsburys

AsdaAreTheWorst · 04/11/2025 22:39

rewards programme is stupid yes definitely. Started off fine and now there is nothing on it - completely pointless

I find Asda far cheaper!

Gottocopebymyself · 04/11/2025 22:43

I haven't shopped in Asda for years. I don't like the quality and I find their stores depressing.
If I'd just had your experience OP I would definitely think they were the worst supermarket. That's absolutely horrendous.

NConthe · 04/11/2025 22:44

It’s gone downhill. I’ve cancelled my delivery pass and switched to Sainsburys

Gettoachiro · 04/11/2025 22:44

The rewards program has pretty much been shelved in all but name as the new chap in charge prefers the rollback prices rather than 'gimmicks'.

Customer services has always been crud but it's got worse. They don't know what's happening at store level. There is no point in ringing them, at least for an answer to what has happened (truthfully) to your delivery.

Too much has been taken out and not enough put in since the buy out and the huge saddling of debt.

ilovesooty · 04/11/2025 22:47

Never had any problems with customer service or my deliveries. However availability has got worse over the past year.

SpicedPumpkins · 04/11/2025 22:48

Omg YES I have had exactly the same experience! Order says delivered even though it never showed up, spent ages on the phone trying to get through to customer service then they tried to imply like I was in the wrong (“the order wasn’t returned to the store so you must have received it”)!
Worst part is this exact thing had now happened twice!
I had bought an annual delivery pass so I guess I will continue using until that expired but then I will definitely shop elsewhere!

sorry for all the exclamation marks I got quite het up there 😂

Elsbethandduckfriends · 04/11/2025 22:49

i am a assistance dog handler and was in Asda today

was just putting my boy in a ‘sit’ and getting my bag ready to do the self service till (had 5 or 6 items) and the checkout lady came over to see if I wanted her to do it for me.

Said ‘ no thank you - I’m ok’ as I can manage - but was so grateful for her kindness…

Local Asda always so nice to me when I shop with my dog - always a positive experience there…

So personally I love Asda!

PauliesWalnuts · 04/11/2025 22:51

Availability really poor at my local store. Wanted to make a Manhattan clam chowder last week and half the ingredients were out of stock - cockles, bacon lardons, smoked paprika and even celery!

JipJup · 04/11/2025 22:54

I stopped using Asda about 8 years ago due to the amount of substitutions we were getting.

One week our shopping had 7 subs and the following week there were 11!

I totally lost my shit and defected to Morrisons 🤣🤣

AmyDuPlantier · 04/11/2025 22:56

Asda food is 🤢

AutumnAllTheWay · 04/11/2025 23:01

After a lifetime of tescos, we've just moved ti in store shopping at Asda and found it much cheaper for the same quality.

Can't comment on delivery

usedtobeaylis · 04/11/2025 23:01

I'm with you. I stopped using them a whole ago and slowly went back for convenience but I'm done now. I rarely do deliveries but unexpectedly couldn't get shopping today as planned so done an express shopping to have food delivered before dinner time. An hour and a half late, no notifications or explanations. I phoned them after an hour and asked for the express delivery fee to be refunded, they couldn't do it despite the fact it was very clearly way past the selected and paid for window. They only subbed one item they didn't have, I don't believe for a second they had no cucumbers or peppers to sub in. Their rewards app hasn't logged a single shop in the last month despite going twice a week. And they didn't deliver an order at the beginning of covid to my elderly dad of about £60 and I was never able to resolve it. An absolutely shite supermarket.

Oh and my local one has closed down their little cafe that had offers for pensioners and children, replaced by a Costa.

Nah, done.

Edit: and you can't get them via twitter any more, or email, or through the website. I always feel like there should be better rules about contacting these snide, greedy corporate fucks.

reversingdumptruckwithnotyreson · 04/11/2025 23:09

I never had an issue with their online deliveries but I went to ours in person recently after their refurbishment and wanted to leave after 2 minutes, whoever decided to rearrange it like that needs booting.

My main issue with it is that their rewards system makes 0 sense to me and I don’t really find it that affordable anymore? I guess everywhere is expensive these days.

PleaseStopEatingMyStuff · 04/11/2025 23:19

Yep. Totally down hill. Subs most weeks. The websites shocking, frequently glitches out when trying to order, often doesn't let you ammend your order the day before or deletes things you've added throughout the week. Customer service are totally shit and rude when I've had to call them.
Sadly I have a delivery pass but i'll be switching to sainsburys when it runs out.

Whyjustwhy83 · 04/11/2025 23:30

Never bother with them for deliveries I've always found the staff friendly and helpful in-store though. My other main shop where I live is Morrisons and Asda is definitely cheaper for most things . I used Asda mostly for the rewards app as I have a blue lights card and had a lot of cashback. Now it's shit and the only thing scanning it gets you is them tracking your shopping habit's. Even Morrisons is better and after a year+ shopping there I might get a fiver lol.

LlamaNoDrama · 05/11/2025 00:05

I moved away from Asda as we were always getting subs and unavailables. It's rare I get either with Tesco.

They've rearranged ours as well and nothing is actually signed. It's like a wee adventure to find the rice. And those stupid fridge doors that reflect everything on the outside so you can't see the inside. It's like nobody in charge of making decisions has ever actually been in a shop before.

Sainsbury’s are dicks. I will never shop there again.

Mum2twoandacockapoo · 05/11/2025 01:25

The amount of posts that come up on my fb newsfeed now about Asda and their rewards app … they must be struggling coz no way can one company lose this many customers and not notice . The amount of shoppers complaining about the lack of rewards and how compared to last year most people have had nothing for their cash pot and they are vowing to shop elsewhere , Asda seems to be doomed !!!
so many people are turning to Tesco out of principle . I think Asda needs to do something before it has no customers left .

Did you get a refund for the missing order?
