Asda are the worst supermarket

AsdaAreTheWorst · 04/11/2025 22:33

The service from Asda is getting worse and worse.

My recent order didn't arrive even though it says delivered. Customer service are terrible - saying they can't get hold of the store and to call back later. Next attempt they put me on hold and then the call just ended.

Think I'm going to delete my account and never shop there again.

AIBU to think they are the worst supermarket in the UK?

Omg YES I have had exactly the same experience! Order says delivered even though it never showed up, spent ages on the phone trying to get through to customer service then they tried to imply like I was in the wrong (“the order wasn’t returned to the store so you must have received it”)!
Worst part is this exact thing had now happened twice!
I had bought an annual delivery pass so I guess I will continue using until that expired but then I will definitely shop elsewhere!

sorry for all the exclamation marks I got quite het up there 😂

Did you manage to get refund easily?

If I can't get customer service to refund me today I will do a chargeback on credit card and close my asda account

The app is dire, it's gotten so bad. It constantly glitches, it clears the item you're searching for so you end up typing it in 3 or 4 times. It doesn't always update amendments and I'm certain that when you add items to your order some just dissappear. When I add my favourites it'll randomly double up the items so I have to go back and manually change the amounts.

Trying to place an order online is an ordeal.

rewards programme is stupid yes definitely. Started off fine and now there is nothing on it - completely pointless

We have an enormous ASDA just down the road I really want to like it. There's an opticians there and huge clothing homeware departments last year the reward scheme was fantastic really liked it this year it is absolutely pants.

CeeJay81 · 05/11/2025 07:12

Haven't Asda since the pandemic. We haven't got a local store but they delivery out here. The amount of subs was ridiculous and they weren't even good ones. Tesco is by far the best for delivery. Never more than 2 subs and always a decent ones when they do. Always on time and plenty of good offers too.

Myfridgeiscool · 05/11/2025 07:22

Yep. Closest Asda to me feels grotty. Never go in it now. Last time I went the self scanning tills were terrible to use; it was the final nail in the coffin for me.

WaltzingWaters · 05/11/2025 07:28

Yes, it used to be a budget one, now it’s so expensive and their rewards system is awful. I used to use it exclusively when they offered 10% off for blue light card members, then the rewards decreased and it was cheaper to shop elsewhere, now their BLC rewards are zero and their general rewards program sucks, so I’ve just stopped shopping there altogether.

EleanorReally · 05/11/2025 07:28

agree asda rewards are a waste of time now the blue light card isnt linked

jonnybriggswasgreat · 05/11/2025 07:29

I top up there as it’s a five minute walk from my house and It’s the best value of the supermarkets but what a shame the rewards scheme is crap these days. The company has been struggling so I can see why they changed it to make it less attractive to the consumers (especially Blue Light members like me) but I think they’ve gone too far with it. If they hadn’t changed the app I would never have switched to getting most of my food via deliveries from Sainsbury’s.

MN favourites Aldi and Lidl are the worst - most of their own stuff isn’t good quality and shopping in both places is a depressing experience.

I did get a refund eventually, I had to explain it repeatedly to customer service and keep waiting on hold etc.
I had actually paid some of the cost with an evoucher (that I got from my last order being soooo late) which they didn’t refund (despite telling me on the phone that they would) but by the time I realised I was so fed up and had wasted so much time on this nonsense that I didn’t bother chasing it up.
Shame on you Asda!

editing to add: heads up for anyone who doesn’t know, if your delivery is late and arrives after the timeslot you can phone customer support (if you feel brave enough to wait on hold forever ha) and ask for a £5 evoucher

butterpuffed · 05/11/2025 08:02

My order wasn't delivered so I rang Customer Services who said they had several drivers off sick, she re-ordered it for the following day after reassuring me there would be more drivers.

It wasn't delivered - a note said they tried to deliver but I actually saw the driver go past my building.

I gave up with them . As for their Rewards system, what a waste of time.

user2848502016 · 05/11/2025 08:03

Yeah I agree tbh, their own brand stuff isn’t as good as Tesco/Sainsbury’s and they’re more expensive than Aldi/lidl. Also can’t be bothered with their reward system

Whatshesaid96 · 05/11/2025 08:12

Their app and website are atrocious to use. I don't get many subs and they do 99% turn up on time. We are semi rural so don't get Sainsbury or Morrisons deliveries otherwise I'd try them. Tescos and Ocado I refuse to use which are our only other options here. The next town to us literally has one supermarket (ASDA) or a tiny Co-op local and a tiny Tesco express. The Asda has been crammed into an old Georgian building and its like dicing with your life if you ever go in there as the aisles are so close together. Thankfully Aldi are now finally building there so I'll use that when it's eventually finished, they will do a roaring trade.

Shopaholic100 · 05/11/2025 08:20

Asda customer service told me off for returning an item I bought which was mouldy because I returned it at 8.30pm instead of 8pm. Note to Asda, do quality control checks and don’t sell mouldy food then!!! The queues are huge in my store and they have a very limited car parking time and fine if you go over, so you can’t really do a big shop without a lot of stress. Staff really seem unhappy in the store. The local Aldi store is brilliant, staff are happy and will come and help without even being asked. Sainsbury’s staff generally ok but they don’t have enough staff on the self checkouts, so they have to cover like 3 sections.

AsdaAreTheWorst · 05/11/2025 06:45

Did you get a refund for the missing order?

Nope. I persevered for way over a year, only ever managed to get through on the phone once. Tried multiple other ways - twitter, emails - even the emails ended up bouncing back. Tried Resolver and didn't get a single response.

redlightsintherear · 05/11/2025 08:44

I stopped shopping there about 12 months ago as their Rewards app just went down the plug hole. It used to be brilliant.

In addition (and this is completely unreasonable!!) in my local store there’s a squad of female staff who fancy themselves as singers. They’re frequently singing in the entranceway (to backing tracks) raising money for different charities. None of them can sing a note in tune so it’s more like tuneless squawking. I couldn’t bear it any longer so I switched.

I hate the self scan, it gets off to a bad start every time I have to follow someone around for five minutes to get a flipping bag.

'Driver shortage' is apparently why my order was late last night. If they've got a driver shortage they shouldn't be offering the express delivery and charging for it!

pterodactylpinky · 05/11/2025 08:50

If you are suggesting they are the worst supermarket based on this one situation YABU.

Update: I messaged on Instagram and got this reply:
Hi [my name], Hope you're doing well. I'm really sorry to hear that you didn't receive your order. Upon checking, I can confirm that your order was already delivered to your location yesterday. I kindly request you to please check with your neighbors or look in a safe place. Thanks

What? Has delivery driver stolen it?
Do I ring the store and talk to manager or do a chargeback on credit card?

Go back and say it’s not your job to look for it. You paid for it to be delivered to you, at your home address and they have not done that. They are responsible here.

WinterBerry40 · 05/11/2025 11:34

Don't know much about Asda , but in my area Morrisons, has gone downhill . Don't know if that's countrywide , but the one in my home town is now dark and dingy and never has much in stock .
A larger store which is about 25/30 miles away doesn't fair much better . We don't shop in Morrison's anymore .

Surely they know which driver was delivering , they should just ask him !

MsSmartShoes · 05/11/2025 11:38

I lost my patience with them when they changed the store my deliveries came from.
A bottle of gin had the security tag on it - I had to go to the store twice and still didn’t get a refund.
Also, my deliveries were increasingly short of what I’d ordered.

LeopardsANeutral · 05/11/2025 11:47

I'm so disappointed with their rewards app! Last year I did my big Christmas food shop there, as I'd accumulated £60ish worth of points throughout the year. This year, I'd say I'd done the same amount of shopping there (never my full food shop, but I often buy bits and bobs, a big thing of cans of diet cokes, kids clothes, books and toys etc), and I only have £11 of points from the whole year - the past 3 times I've been, I haven't had anything on the rewards app at all! So I won't be doing my food shop there at Christmas at all this year. It's a shame as I do like their kids clothes, but the last time I went in, I noticed they'd gone up in price too!
