Teen sexy halloween costume for girls only

AIBU to think the whole sexy halloween costume for girls only is getting worse each year.

I am not a prude honestly and there are bigger problems in the world I know but….

So many youngish (year 10-12) teens posting on social media dressed in push up basques, micro minis, micro shorts bare legs and pouting at the camera and worse. Then the boys all dressed in jeans t-shirts and normal costumes not a pout in sight.

Don’t get me wrong women should wear what they want but it seems social media is dictating that girls should be more and more provocative and boys can just be boys.

AIBU to think in 2025 this is pretty sad.

I agree with uniform but it’s the uniform itself is the problem. Blazers and hideous skirt that gets hitched up. Much preferred the days they coukd wear pe kit smart unsexualised black tracksuit. They should just all go with that everyday.

Needmorelego · 04/11/2025 12:04

Yes. That was my point. Teenage girls are sexualized daily because the current popular style of school uniform that most schools use is the one that has become practically fetishist and the "sexy schoolgirl" cliché.
I hate it.

I'm sure there's no school regulation that states pupils should wear a shirt two sizes too small or a skirt that's too short though. The children are bastardising the uniform, no-one is forcing them to wear it in that way.

It's the style.
Those ruddy pleated kilts - type "sexy schoolgirl" into Google and that's what you get 🤢
The shirt thing is often because if a teenage girl happens to have big breasts then a formal school shirt simply doesn't fit. She can't buy a shirt that actually does fit because they don't exist in the school uniform section.

Was up in London the other week when Comicon (or similar!) was on at the Excel. The costumes were BRILLIANT!

But all of my teen’s friends are massively into Halloween and had a huge Halloween party last weekend. The event of the year.

Yep that was Comic-con. It was fab.

shellyleppard · 05/11/2025 06:59

My teenage son and his friend's went trick or treating as characters from a cartoon series so I don't think all boys are the same....

I love it when all those in their costumes are getting on the DLR.
So funny watching someone dressed as something ridiculous like a vending machine having to be shoved on by their mates who are dressed as Godzilla or something.
Must look most bizarre on CCTV.

She said yr 10 (14/15) to yr 12 (16/17) that isn't sexualising children. It is young girls experimenting with their nascent sexual attractivness. Perfectly normal and nothing new. Look at footage of a Beatles concert.

I read that as 10 - 12 year olds.
I don' t understand why anyone refers to children in school years.

14/ 15 year olds are still children and it's still down to their parents that they are allowing them to sexualise themselves.

And that 16 / 17 year olds have learnt that their role in life is to display their bodies for male approval is just wrong.

Really ? I absolutely loved getting tarted up at 16- 19 or so, young women dressing in a way which adverstises their sexually maturity and fertility is as old as human society. But would agree that it is inappropriate for primary school children absolutely.

5128gap · 05/11/2025 08:16

Girls presenting themselves as mini versions of what is considered desirable for adult women isn't really new. This used to be 'demure and pretty' and has now evolved into 'sexy' alongside the evolution of how adult women present to be seen as 'attractive'. We will never stop girls looking at women as role models and copying their styles and behaviour. It's part of the journey to being an adult woman. So really, the problem here is with what has become the trend for adult women. But its very difficult to be critical of that without falling foul of the Lib Fem women's choice arguments.

I agree with you but 17yos aren't really mini anything. In our society they are considered children but physiologically they are close to their peak fertility.

I really don't know to be honest.

Well it’s not just boys that do their hair is it? So boys aren’t doing other things

There is a difference between getting dressed up and presenting yourself purely as a sex object.

Wearing a basque and pouting at the camera is all about a child or a teenage girl thinking her only worth is that of a sex object.

I mean your previous posts refers to Beatles concerts. I don't know what footage you are watching but I don't think you will find any young girls or teenagers wearing basques or overtly sexualised clothing the young girls and women of today are wearing. The point about the girls at those concerts was about their screaming and their obvious sexual desire for the members of the band. So they were actively experiencing awakening sexual feelings themselves. They were not presenting their bodies for men to sexually lust over.

TheaBrandt1 · 05/11/2025 08:47

Some of dds friends mums are from other cultures and they think very differently to English mums. The Spanish / Brazilian / US mums view is if you’ve got it flaunt it! This thread is very Anglo Saxon!

That generation literally invented the mini skirt.

Neurodiversitydoctor · 05/11/2025 08:55

How old do you reckon Twiggy is here ? and how old do you think she looks ? I'd say late teens.

What I was meaning (I think) was it's all about attracting a mate essentially.
Females feel they have to dress in skimpy clothes, show off their boobs, wear make up etc.
Males feel they need to look nice (the fancy hair), smell nice , have desirable clothes and shoes.
Is it society that's made it that way?
Probably.

I don't many teenagers that dress up for Halloween.
It's not really a thing 🤔

Do you know any teens???!! Halloween parties wear they dress up are very common.

TheaBrandt1 · 05/11/2025 08:59

Halloween one of the biggest nights of the year for every teen I know.

I have said on this thread several times that I now know I was wrong about that.
I accept I was wrong.
It's simply not something in my 17 year old daughters world and circle of friends.
Also she attends school in an area where the demographic is unlikely to celebrate Halloween that much (religious reasons).
🎃

So I haven't been a school girl for a LONG time. But everyone in my school year deliberately pushed the boundaries of what we could get away with. The white shirts from the school outfitters were plain, so we all went to new look and bought those tight stretchy ones (made from that horrible material that made you sweat). Ditto the skirts. The school outfitters were plain and grey and almost knee length so everyone constantly tried to get away with mini alternatives. Wearing anything that actually complied with the uniform policy was deeeeeeeeply uncool

HairyToity · 05/11/2025 09:11

My DD asked for a corset for trick or treating, she is year 9. I said no way. A few of her friends were wearing bunny girl outfits and corsets.

Needmorelego · 05/11/2025 09:14

@HangingOver that's kind of my point.
Teenage girls will always try to adapt their school uniforms but schools don't help themselves by making it easy to do that.
A pleated kilt is easy to roll up and be stupidly short.
Shirts can deliberately be too tight.
If the uniform was trousers or culottes and a polo shirt with a hoodie then it's going away from that stereotype of "sexy schoolgirl".

It's mothers who are insecure and desperate for "acceptance" for their kids facilitating this shit. And those who find parenting very hard and want for their kids grown up.

9 isn't a teenager nor is 12. Its little kids she's talking about.
