Someone who’s passionate, young and willing to break the rules in politics, all while caring about his city and the people in it. I wish we had someone like that here.

Zach goldsmith of the greens is very much our UK Mamdani - he seems to be trying hard break the mould.

Isn't he the Tory MP who ran a racist mayoral campaign against Sadiq Khan?

HerNeighbourTotoro · 04/11/2025 11:22

My friend's parents were born in Uganda and are Indian, and were removed by the regime of Idi Amin for being Indian.

Still doesn't make him an Indian national.

Haha I remember that, he claimed to love Bollywood films and then could not name a single one...

He is a USA national, can be Indian (or Indian/American) by heritage, I thought things like these are pretty easy to understand? The two things are not mutually exclusive.

nomas · 04/11/2025 11:25

Friendlyfart · 04/11/2025 10:17

No, he’s an antisemite. He can fuck off.

Anti-semite will lose all meaning if you keep this up.

State your evidence or apologise.

As if London isn't shitty enough with Sadiq.

He has Indian heritage, but he isn't Indian, like the pp said.

Personally I'm loving all the clean air in London. Why don't you move to LA if you love smog.

Whats Sadiq got to do with New York?

HerNeighbourTotoro · 04/11/2025 11:19

Is this the same Zach Goldsmith that was a Conservative and run for the mator of London a few years back?

I apologised for being an utter tool on page 4. I was very tired 🤣🤣🤣 the other Zac!

I mean oyu can be both, I dont know why it's so hard to get.

it's like, I was born in country X and then moved to country Y when I was 15, I am a national of Y now, but still speak with an accent. I am X despite my parrport as the moment I open my mouth people ask where I am from.
Nationality/identity is a lot more complex that many people seem to understand,

I have friends of Indian heritage in Kenya, they consider themselves Kenyan first and foremost.

Mamdani himself says he identifies as “an American who was born in Africa”.

I've lived in London all my life and it's no cleaner under Sadiq than it was before. It's more expensive, more crime-ridden - especially so-called petty crime, more weed fumes and more top-down misanthropic.

It's speaks to the title of the thread. We don't need Sadiq on steroids, the incumbent is bad enough.

Should we just overlook his blatant antisemitism?!😬

Lots of the NY Jewish community are supporting him.

I have a Jewish parent and I would vote for him if I could. He is not anti-semitic.

He ran a racist campaign against Sadiq Khan.

During his 2016 London mayoral campaign, Zac Goldsmith sent leaflets to voters in the British Indian and Tamil communities claiming that a Labour mayor, Sadiq Khan, would support a "wealth tax" on family jewellery. It was a load of divisive and racist bollocks.

How do you know what people are thinking in real life.
So you don’t think pro Israel/Jewish people should have an opinion, and really they are just bots or government operatives posting anyway.
It does sound like you are trying to silence certain communities.

Nevereatcardboard · 04/11/2025 12:44

He thinks it’s ok for people to call for globalising the intifada and won’t condemn anyone who says it. Personally, I think that makes him completely unfit for public office but I seem to be in a minority.

I've lived here all my life and it is definitely cleaner. Studies agree with me, not you

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2025/mar/07/london-air-pollution-down-since-ulez-expansion-study

People in London have been breathing significantly cleaner air since the expansion of the ultra low emission zone (Ulez), a study has found.
Levels of deadly pollutants that are linked to a wide range of health problems – from cancer to impaired lung development, heart attacks to premature births – have dropped, with some of the biggest improvements coming in the capital’s most deprived areas.

Probably restrict posting to only views they have. There’s other dedicated political sites surely for what they’re after.

Quite.
It does appear that’s what some posters are after.
I think we are thinking along the same lines.
