To date a man with four kids by two women?

I’ve met someone I really like, but he has four kids by two women. Both were long term relationships. Would you go there?

OP posts:
WearyAuldWumman · 01/11/2025 14:41

Put it this way - my late husband had two adult children when we got married and that was challenging enough.

AgentPidge · 01/11/2025 14:41

No. I'd expect, if he's a decent guy, him to put his kids first, and wouldn't want to be left behind. "(Really sorry about our weekend away, but Claire can't look after them that weekend so I'll have to cancel our trip.")

cottonwoolie · 01/11/2025 14:42

No, too much baggage & potential drama. How old is he?

Badbadbunny · 01/11/2025 14:43

No. Would definitely not go there.

I wouldn't fuck him with a borrowed vagina, and you couldn't waterboard me into dating him.

🤣🤣🤣
(I 100% agree. There are not enough barge poles in the world )

GAJLY · 01/11/2025 14:45

I know someone who has 10 children between 2 women. I think women would be bat shit crazy to get involved with him the 3rd time around.

New thread on MN seven years from now, from a different, younger woman:

”I’ve just met a man who I like. He has six children by three women. Is that a red flag?”

Exactly what I was thinking.

Gymbunny2025 · 01/11/2025 14:47

It depends. If I already had children myself and I didn’t want any more then yes I don’t see why not. If I was looking to start a family with him then no.

shhblackbag · 01/11/2025 13:57

I was just thinking that!

Me too

Thisismetooaswell · 01/11/2025 14:49

Nope

Gruffporcupine · 01/11/2025 14:51

Nooooooooooooooooo way in hell

Bananalanacake · 01/11/2025 14:51

Ok for a bit of casual fun but not to set up home with. Put your foot down early on, tell him there will be no talk of living together until his youngest is 18 and you definitely don't want to meet any of them for at least another 2 years. If he's looking for a nanny with a fanny he will drop you to look for the next candidate.

WolfieMuma · 01/11/2025 14:51

Absolutely not. Not even if they were with the same woman

Jadebear · 01/11/2025 14:52

Well this is the most unanimous set of responses I’ve ever seen to a post!

And I am not going to buck that trend.
Absolutely no way, op.
Assuming he’s a half-decent Dad then I’d be expecting him to be seeing those 4 kids on a regular basis, and contributing significantly financially.
If he isn’t doing the above, then I’d judge him. And wouldn’t want to date him anyway.

But if he is, then he isn’t really going to have time, or maybe not as much time as you’d like, for a relationship. And you can’t really complain about that, cos the kids obviously should come first.

Then what if you also want kids. How on earth does that even begin to play out.

So I’m adding my agreement to the others. It’s too bloody complicated. There will be other men out there with easier personal lives.

Oh this is why need the 😂 back!

Tiddlywinkly · 01/11/2025 14:54

Absolutely not

DoYouReally · 01/11/2025 14:54

Smart women don't even have to ask!

Recipe for disaster.

If he was a decent man, surely one of them would have wanted to keep him!

YogaLite · 01/11/2025 14:54

He must be an absolute charmer looking for the next nanny with a fanny...

loseuss · 01/11/2025 14:55

I was about to link the exact same thread 😂

loseuss · 01/11/2025 14:58

Run, don’t walk away. And no - don’t have “casual fun” with him as some people have said.

That’s exactly how it starts, then a
woman gets hooked emotionally and/or falls pregnant accidentally and ends up feeling trapped.

Sad but true lol

marshmallowmix · 01/11/2025 14:59

Nope not a chance!

MooDengOfThailand · 01/11/2025 14:59

..... there are a lot of desperate women out there.

loseuss · 01/11/2025 14:59

WonderlandWasAllAHoax · 01/11/2025 14:22

I wouldn't date a man with one child, let alone four 😂

Same 😂

AnareticDegree · 01/11/2025 14:59

Run away. How can it possibly end well??
