To ask if you've ever seen a doppelganger?

I'm at a major rail station about 200miles from home and just seen DH who should be at home. Went over and it is the spitting image of him except a bit taller and DH has a mole on the side of his face.

Non-DH saw me staring so I explained why. I showed him a photo of DH and he was also totally shocked at the resemblance. He kindly let me take his photo which I sent to DH, his reaction was to ask when I'd taken it as he doesn't remember having that jacket!

It's freaked us all out bit! Non-DS is 2 years older so not a seperated twin but so so odd.

Anyone had similar?

Text from my daughter a few weeks ago asking why my photo was in the newspaper. It wasn't, it was my doppelganger who lives in USA.

Celebs

I was about to cross a one way street in town on my lunch break once, and saw what I thought was my former coworker trying to drive the wrong way down said street (but not getting anywhere since someone else was going the correct way and blocking her). I sent her a message on Facebook messenger asking if that had been her, but she said she hadn't been out of the house that day. Apparently other people have told her she has a doppelganger before that.

NorthernChinchilla · 31/10/2025 22:29

My husband has one. We live in a town 300 miles from our original area, and he's had numerous people come up to him with a "Hello Dave" (or whatever name)
He's 6 ft with long VERY curly blonde hair, so not a common look...

BetterWithPockets · 31/10/2025 22:33

Saw a picture of my (now) ex’s ex. Genuinely thought it was a photo of me until I realised it couldn’t be. Was really quite freaky…

Mermaidsarereal · 31/10/2025 22:35

Yes, I once saw my mums doppelganger when watching the show Once Upon a Time, there was a scene in a diner and it cut to an extra actress and I had to pause the TV immediately because it was like my mums face was on the screen!

Onlyinthrees · 31/10/2025 22:37

There was a dog I used to see out for walks that was the double of my dog. He was a mongrel and fairly distinctive so I always did a double take. I used to wonder if maybe they were siblings or something.

Crikeyalmighty · 31/10/2025 22:38

Ha ha - yearsago several totally different people told me they thought I was katexwinskets double including my mother - !! I can kind of see it , except can give her 3 stone and 10 years!!

birdseatworms · 31/10/2025 22:44

I saw mine once, sitting across from me on the bus. We both did a double take. She had the same color hair, facial structure and “cankles”. Neither of us said anything to the other but we’re definitely looking!

Mamadontpreach · 31/10/2025 22:44

I had a friend show me a book of photos of our local town from the early 1900s, as a woman on the front cover was my doppelganger. Really creeped me out seeing 'me' from 100+ years ago

CoolPlayer · 31/10/2025 22:50

I saw my husbands in a arcade once, didn’t manage to grab husband in time to show him, he really really looked like him! still think about it sometimes an wish I had shown him! 😅

MyspecialMug · 31/10/2025 22:56

Same, it was over 20 years ago. Checking into a city hotel, and the guy behind the desk was the spit of my partner. My cousin was with me she was, saying are you sure your not Peter..
We even checked the room for hidden cameras, though we were on a hidden camera tv show, this was over 20 years ago..
Still laugh about it now with my cousin.

BeanQuisine · 31/10/2025 22:58

Some friends of mine found someone they regarded as the spitting image of me, and posted me the picture.

I was sure they were playing a cruel joke. IMO this unfortunate lady looked nothing like me and was so ugly I felt sorry for her.

But no, my friends were being serious and genuinely thought I looked not just that tragic, but exactly that tragic.

LouLou789 · 31/10/2025 23:15

In Asda one evening looking at the card rack and on the other side of the fixture was the male version of me. We both stared at each other in horrified fascination. I was wondering whether to say anything but didn’t; I expect he was in the same situation.

Also, in my early forties I dated a much younger guy. One day I was at his house on my own (said I would cook a meal) and had a bit of a scout around (as you do) I knew he’d split up from his fiancée a year previously and there was her photo: me but 15 years younger.

Blappengrap · 31/10/2025 23:18

I came across one just this week. My mum's in hospital and her consultant is the exact double of a school mum except I live 100 miles from the hospital. I asked the school mum if she had a sister or other relative at the hospital, because they are so alike including in the way they speak, but she said not. It was very very strange.

Nellodee · 31/10/2025 23:19

My dad once told me he had a work meeting with a woman who was the spitting image of me…. except she was taller and thinner. Thank you, dad, and thank you for your short stocky genes, you git.

ThisZanyPinkSquid · 31/10/2025 23:21

I had a friend move to America. She messaged me to say she had to take her little one to the ER and there was a nurse there (I’m a nurse) that was literally my double with the same mannerisms but an American accent. She asked when I moved and even said to the nurse ‘ThisZanyPinkSquid’ to get her attention 😂😂

EilonwyWithRedGoldHair · 31/10/2025 23:22

When I used to get the train to work there was a woman I'd see at the station sometimes who from the back was just like someone I knew at work. Same hair cut, same hair colour (dyed), and exactly the same style of dress, except different colour way - they both had a colour scheme they stuck to.

Advicechange · 31/10/2025 23:25

When I lived abroad, multiple people kept asking how I’d got into various rooms so quickly adamant that they’d seen me on another floor, heading out with a suitcase, on the phone outside etc. My DH even asked how come I was at the train station when he went for lunch.
My doppelgänger worked in the same building as me, I bumped into her once and we were both stunned.

CrazyCricketLady · 31/10/2025 23:26

I had my own at my secondary school, a year older. I had friends whom I had been friends with since 3 run after them calling my name. I had other students and teacher ask if she was my sister. I'd regularly get called this other person's name... but me and my other NEVER met, not once!

kippersmum · 31/10/2025 23:39

Yes I have a doppelganger, so much so my uncle stopped to give me a lift and couldn't understand why I didn't recognise him.

covilha · 31/10/2025 23:40

Yes, years ago.
Was working in London and my Dad got on the Tube!
same height, coloring, clothes he would wear, everything
I went over to say Hi and he was a total stranger speaking Spanish

covilha · 31/10/2025 23:42

Oh, and another one, also from London. When I went back onto the ward after a few days off all the nurses and patients were very excited to tell me about my twin. A young lady had arrived (to be fair much slimmer and younger than me) who they thought was my absolute double. We were both from the same area so sounded the same, and had the same build, or our hair the same way and had identical glasses!
I met her a few days later and was very flattered

ErrolTheDragon · 31/10/2025 23:43

Yes, I couldn’t go to the christening of a nephew but after the event DB showed me a photo of ‘me’ there in a dress I didn’t have but would have liked. She was the girlfriend of one of his pals.

ProudCat · 31/10/2025 23:45

Yes, when I was at school. I met my classmate's doppelganger when I was on holiday. Really spooky. I suppose there's only so many faces to go round.
