Boyfriend sent me a video

sillyme1234 · 31/10/2025 00:02

I've started to date a new guy (he's not my boyfriend) and he sent me a video which was supposed to be taken at 6am in the morning (he sent it late afternoon).

It was taken when he was in bed (no not sexual) and what caught my eye is that it was light outaide. The light was shining on the TV screen in his room. He has those office type blinds vertical style.

The video was black and white in style, so it wasn't bright in the room, I just find it bizarre the winwod were so bright.

He stated his son woke him up at 6am and he took a video of him singing. I just found it weird the windows looked so bright.

Is it really bright at 6am? I thought it wasn't bright until 7ish.

(He is staying he's tired from being up early etc and can't meet, which is fine but it looks so bright outside that I instantly thought the video wasnt taken at night. I've just got a feeling it's not quite right)

Anyone up at 6am and van confirm on the room brightness

No.

Not your concern

Stop trying to make an issue when non exists

You're the one saying there were other issues! Just curious to know what they were

I can see this thread taking the same turn as the one about the man lying about his height with many people focusing on the issue (or 'non issue') rather than the key element of someone lying.

Is it a non-issue if she's just mistaken a street lamp for dayligth though? Video was in monochrome so wont be able to tell if it's lamp glow or sunshine.

The bloke probably isn't lying at all and it's just an exaggeration of what time it was because an exact to the minute timing usually doesn't matter enough to care about.

Some man hating people on mumsnet just jump straight to the conclusion he's lying and deceitful because they have a pre-existing bias.

It is a non issue though. Seems like it was lighthearted joke about how early his kid wakes up. The exact time hardly matters.

This thread is nuts.

The OP said this man is her boyfriend and then said he's not her boyfriend?

Then said she'd blocked and deleted his number, now says she hasn't done that?

She said he's done other things bar the light issue in the video but won't reveal what they are?

He put UHT milk on her cereal.

I'd dump him too.

Ever considered there’s a street light outside

Why would you not have black out curtains and have office blinds

SergeantWrinkles · 31/10/2025 11:06

Op your postings aren’t making sense. You say there are other issues? You have blocked him? You haven’t blocked him? It’s all a bit confusing!

Just like me, maybe because he can't afford them or doesn't know how to fit them? If you already have blinds, entirely replacing them isn't necessarily at the top of the list of thing to do.

Jammington · 31/10/2025 11:09

I could never date again if DH and I broke up.

It sounds utterly exhausting.

Agreed. If I’m gonna find someone who analyses my curtains and checks daylight, I’m out.

My ex husband is “not allowed” to communicate with me about our house sale, because his partner checks his WhatsApp. He’s 40.

I repeat.. couldn’t be arsed.

Blueblell · 31/10/2025 11:12

If it was taken on Sunday he may have thought it was 6 but it was in fact 7 as the clocks changed overnight.

oops nope wrong way round!

People across the road from us never even had curtains
not everyone is bothered by light coming in

I'm kinda sure it was Monday morning. But yes. But don't clocks on phones change automatically.

I wouldn’t care about the video so much. He probably took it the day before and made a small white lie saying his son woke him up at 5 am. At 6 am it’s not even light outside.

However, He said he was too tired to meet up with you because his son had him up early. That is Just an excuse as all mums/dads get woken up multiple times by their kids every night and still manage to function and go to work/socialise. What was the other things you were suspicious about?

It does to OP. If he is untruthful about something as insignificant as the time, what else does he lie about?

If he recreated the scenario (most likely) then he should have said.

Yeah it's not just the one thing now.

I don't want to give too much into to the vultures but lately he's been hot and cold with messages.

Sense lots over a few days and than blacks for a few days. Just not normal.

Potentially. OP says she can't tell.
He said he was tired from waking up early, so has cancelled meeting up.

In this instance it's possible to give him the benefit of the doubt, but I do understand people not being happy when they think they're being spun an untruth at an early stage.

MajorMerrick · 31/10/2025 11:25

He was woken up at 6, took the video after laying in bed for an hour. I don’t see the issue tbh.

OP is also upset about him having blinds. So I'm not sure she's a reasonable judge.
But perhaps the mysterious "other stuff" puts it into context. Who knows.

No he said he was up at 5, video at 6. You wouldn't be in bed for 2 hours with a toddler in your face

He randomly sent me the video. Not really in relation to anything and I don't really want videos of his kid either.

You might.

My son woke us up at 1:06am and 5:15am this morning. Nobody actually got out of bed properly until 7:35.

Do you have children? Sometimes we get them to do things in their own room for as long as is humanly possible so their day doesn’t start with a bang at 5am.

Alicethruthemirror · 31/10/2025 11:34
