Was listening to some music today and after my playlist was finished Spotify went off on its own little algorithm-y journey, and I suddenly found myself listening to a song so beautiful I had it on repeat for about an hour. That sort of thing happens to me very rarely, so I thought I’d see if anyone else could recommend songs that have struck them in a similar way.

con te partiro by andrea bocelli, used it on my kid's graduation video, very poignant.

Most current for me is Invisible thread by The Divine Comedy. Have cried every time I've heard it, including live at their concert a couple of weeks ago!! (My Mom had no one to go with, she's been a massive fan for about 30 years!) Ardal O'Hanlon is in the music video, which brings them "full circle" for me as the first of their songs I heard was the theme tune for Father Ted! (They also wrote the Father Ted Eurovision entry My Lovely Horse!)

Tori Amos - Precious Things. It began my absolute obsession with her music.

I'm still waiting - Diana Ross. I was very young and played my cassette tape on repeat whilst crying.

Once again alone, like a child without her playmate 💔

KermitTheToad · 29/10/2025 20:04

The only song that has actually ever 'stopped me in my tracks' is Blinded By Your Grace by Stormzy. I am not religious but it somehow moved me to tears as I really listened to the lyrics.

Lovehascomeandgone · 29/10/2025 20:06

In my life by the Beatles……
