To be annoyed that DS has "gifted us" over 1000 toilet rolls

They arrived by lorry today. We did not know they were coming. Now our spare bedroom is full of them and there are loads in the kitchen and living room as well. He said he got them as "a good deal from work" and he thought we would want them. But he forgot to tell us about it.

At least they don't make Izal any more!

Urgh! A family friend had this ‘medicated’ toilet paper. I always prayed not to need the loo when visiting as it was like wiping with sandpaper.

JacknDiane · 29/10/2025 13:57

Oh well

Shit happens

SprayWhiteDung · 29/10/2025 17:24

This stuff might be a bit kinder than the old Izal or Bronco.

My perfect gift…..IBD warrior here 💜

SemiRetiredLoveGoddeess · 29/10/2025 17:47

Put them on eBay.

Did they fall off the back of a lorry

Maybe.rent a storage unit?

Still baffled by the word gifted?

Another loan word from the Yanks.

Does it mean anything you are given or given was a gift/present?

BelatrixLestrange · 28/10/2025 19:05

😂 There are worse things to be gifted op

I'll have 50 if your looking to shift em

Same, saw loo roll for £11 the other day. Almost passed out! 😂

MamainWonderland · 29/10/2025 17:54

Pop them in the loft. You'll be able to use them as insulation for the winter as well - double the benefits 😂.

winter8090 · 29/10/2025 17:56

🤣
How much did that set him back?
I’d also like a photo ….

I'm single and that's ten years of product for me!

lostfather666 · 29/10/2025 18:02

Saves during next covid

Badabingyabadabadoo · 29/10/2025 18:04

I could never be mad at someone giving me toilet rolls! We're forever running out in this house

noodlebugz · 29/10/2025 18:06

I did chuckle aswell. But my burning question is what brand? Are they worth having?

Edited to add - they’re not a bargain because they’re a random colour or pattern or some such thing?

scalt · 29/10/2025 18:06

Legacy of the late Prunella Scales? She appeared on Tesco ads years ago as a customer who decided to stock up on an epic scale, the advert ending with a lorry driver arriving.

Aluna · 29/10/2025 18:10

I’m sure someone’s mentioned Freecyle. That’s by far the most convenient as you don’t have to transport them or package them.

People will pick them up as job lots. If you’re lucky you might get someone to take the whole lot.

CatFinderGeneral · 29/10/2025 18:10

Probably the funniest - and most bizarre - post Ive ever read on MN.

GasPanic · 29/10/2025 18:11

It's not that much. Image a cube, 10 toilet rolls by 10 toilet rolls by 10 toilet rolls.

That would be 1000 and would take up maybe approx an m3 if they are normal sized rolls.

I wouldn't want that many stored in my house for obvious reasons.

tartyflette · 29/10/2025 18:11

I see your IZal and I raise you….
Bronco!
(Which is what we had at our all-girls school. The real Wet Leg. And wet knickers. )

AdoraBell · 29/10/2025 18:14

I would share some with a food bank but not tell anyone because you because you will be bombarded with demands when the zombie apocalypse starts.

Muldersmum · 29/10/2025 18:19

I'd be delighted, I love a bargain . I'd find space for them.

Noodles1234 · 29/10/2025 18:21

I’d find this hilarious!

takensome round to neighbours, turn up to friends houses with a park - what a conversation starter! Donate some to food banks etc. a good laugh for a long time !

PickASize · 29/10/2025 18:22

I'd love this but we have the storage for it, otherwise it's a batshit idea. 😂
We go through a 16 pack every 1-2 weeks as both my dh and ds have ibd, so they go through a toilet roll a day! I'd be happy to have some.

Whyamiherenow · 29/10/2025 18:24

This made me smile. This is exactly the sort of thing my brother or I would do with all the best intentions and forget to tell anyone about. Brilliant. I’m sure you will sort it and a lot of people will be grateful - or they would have been in covid times.

The next pandemic is coming!!!

You’ll be fine.

@OonaStubbs can buy herself a mansion in Mayfair* by selling her 1300 toilet rolls when the next pandemic hits 😆🧻🧻🧻🧻🧻🧻

*I've been watching Bridgerton

RavenhairedRachel · 29/10/2025 18:25

Save them until the next pandemic. You'll make a killing

AnnaQuayInTheUk · 29/10/2025 18:29

1300 rolls is a huge amount to store anywhere. We buy our loo rolls in packs of 48 from WGAC. It's only DH and I so a box lasts us about 6 months. We've got a decent sized house but even so, when the box arrives, we struggle to make space for it.

I think the food bank is a good idea BUT will they have the space or be able to split the packets? Some food banks won't open up packets to split them down, and many people using a food bank won't be able to transport or store a pack of 36 loo rolls.
