To be annoyed that DS has "gifted us" over 1000 toilet rolls

They arrived by lorry today. We did not know they were coming. Now our spare bedroom is full of them and there are loads in the kitchen and living room as well. He said he got them as "a good deal from work" and he thought we would want them. But he forgot to tell us about it.

Still anticipating a picture OP. For the laughs lol

Dontlikeveg · 29/10/2025 20:17

That's only about 40 big packs though.

Aussiegold · 29/10/2025 20:20

During lockdown I (very sadly) worked out how many rolls me and dh got thru and it averaged 2.5 per week, so on that basis 1000 would give us 7.5 years worth of supply!

Sparkysmum · 29/10/2025 20:29

I am having such a larrfff.x

FairFuming · 29/10/2025 20:40

Give them out to trick or treaters and advise then which if your neighbours you'd like TP'd?

1300 rolls is a huge amount to store anywhere. We buy our loo rolls in packs of 48 from WGAC. It's only DH and I so a box lasts us about 6 months. We've got a decent sized house but even so, when the box arrives, we struggle to make space for it.

I think the food bank is a good idea BUT will they have the space or be able to split the packets? Some food banks won't open up packets to split them down, and many people using a food bank won't be able to transport or store a pack of 36 loo rolls.

Interesting the women's refuge i supported with cleaning supplies and loo roll would split. It was one large house to be fair, but several bathrooms, not sure about kitchens.

I’m trying to visualise 1000 loo rolls and how that looks…

Same! Pictures or it didn't happen...😂

TheTecknician · 29/10/2025 20:48

Bogroll is always useful but that much is a fire hazard. I suggest a diet rich in vegetables, curries, chillies and granary bread for a few weeks in order to make the most of this Bounty for Botties.

2ply or 3 ply? Quilted or non quilted? Scented? We need to know the details 😄

Yes! OMG imagine getting gifted 1000 rolls of cheap crappy toilet paper that hurts your bum! 😭

Brilliant. Just in time to dress up as a mummy for Halloween.

Blanknotebook · 29/10/2025 21:00

You could take some to your local food bank as toiletries and household items are always useful as well.

pimplebum · 29/10/2025 21:05

I order some shite late at night when I am pissed but this takes the buscuit

Why would you even let them be delivered to your house, you could have said no or not given permission for the delivery to be delivered. I don’t understand the thought process of letting this be delivered as it would surely take dozens of trips up and down the stairs and an extended period of time for the delivery to complete, you had ample time to think something isn’t right here. The time to act, has gone.

I imagine storing 100 loo rolls would be an issue let alone 1000. I don’t think cash and carries have that much loo roll in stock, it’s unnecessary. If no one has room in their house, you can look into storage units?

Exactly. Why on earth accept the delivery (which possibly was on a pallet)?!
I'd have refused it.

FunCrab · 29/10/2025 21:22

Ready for diarr horrors.

So if you ordered something your OH didnt want/approve of, you'd be happy if he sent the delivery away would you?

peachie82 · 29/10/2025 22:00

I’d be buzzing with this, my family gets through an insane amount of toilet roll

WonderingWanda · 29/10/2025 22:03

Wrap some up and give them back to him for Christmas.

Don't be annoyed. He was trying to do a good useful thing for you. You'll get rid of them eventually. I expect, in the future, you'll laugh about it.

If a pallet of toilet roll arrived on a lorry at your house, wouldn't you think it was a mistake with the address? Especially if neither you or your partner has actually ordered it.
I've had some weird and wonderful things delivered over the years, including 20 huge bags of compost (wrong kg ordered!) but never on that sort of scale.
I'm wondering how much this poor bloke paid for that amount of toilet roll - has to be a cancelled order for them to be offloading that much to employees!

Bolliocks · 29/10/2025 22:43

I’m also just here for the photo!

Well presumably the husbands name was on the delivery name?

Who knows anyway, its a rum do and I would be getting rid of them. Cant stand clutter and I overbuy stuff from time to time myself but not to that extent!
