To be annoyed that DS has "gifted us" over 1000 toilet rolls

They arrived by lorry today. We did not know they were coming. Now our spare bedroom is full of them and there are loads in the kitchen and living room as well. He said he got them as "a good deal from work" and he thought we would want them. But he forgot to tell us about it.

ItWasOnAStarrrryNight · 28/10/2025 19:03

Well…at least if there is another lockdown, that’s one less thing to worry about…

Needmorelego · 28/10/2025 19:03

Donate most of them to your nearest food/hygiene bank.

MidnightPatrol · 28/10/2025 19:03

I’m sure the food bank will take them!

WarriorN · 28/10/2025 19:03

Make an Igloo?

Brightbluesomething · 28/10/2025 19:03

That’s you sorted for the next pandemic then!

Nomorecoconutboosts · 28/10/2025 19:04

I’m trying to visualise 1000 loo rolls and how that looks…

Arlanymor · 28/10/2025 19:04

Oh! On first reading your post sounds very comical, but looking around my flat I wouldn't be too keen on having it overtaken by toilet roll. If storage is an issue could you maybe donate some locally? Foodbanks and pantries will gladly take them off your hands, same as community groups such as drop-in centres.

Itsallabouttea · 28/10/2025 19:04

I'm sorry what? 🤣

Coffeeishot · 28/10/2025 19:05

ConcordeSkyHigh · 28/10/2025 19:05

I'm trying to imagine the scale of this.

It's a bit loo-dicrous. But, there's a big economic saving here, if you can loo-k on the bright side.

MiddleAgedDread · 28/10/2025 19:05

we need a photo!!!

ConcordeSkyHigh · 28/10/2025 19:06

We need an estimate of how long you think they will last.

DoYouReally · 28/10/2025 19:07

For 2 people, that's about 10 years worth!

There are worse gifts 😀

LaBarucci · 28/10/2025 19:12

@OonaStubbs If you can transport the loo rolls, definitely donate them to the food bank. I remember bringing a box of donations from colleagues at work to a Trussell Trust foodbank in the poorest area of town, and the supervisor in charge pounced on the one packet of toilet paper in the collection. When I asked her why, she said, "Well, we don't get much, so we have to ration them out. If you know what I mean". Can you imagine doling out just one loo roll per household .. the mind boggles. Most likely (and foodbank demand has rocketed up since then) they will be very welcome anywhere near you.
