Ironically, this is somewhat of a rant.

Is everyone too scared to stand up to the constant hate filled rants for fear of being called "woke"?

Is the constant inference that VAWG is only perpetrated by brown men not worth standing up to?

Is the rhetoric that all of our problems are caused only by small boats and not legal migration or billionaires not problematic? For the record, I believe it is a problem, but not the only problem and not even the biggest problem. I believe the system is the problem.

The increasingly hostile movement against anyone that is non white is making people fearful of going about their every day lives and people seem to just want to sit on the sidelines and refuse to call it out.

Where is everyone?

I feel like this post might turn into a gaslighting shit show, but fuck it, I've had enough.

So nowhere that they would kick them out then?

Oh hold on the Sage link?

There is zero referencing, zero info on the survery, technique, numbers polled. Nothing?

But at least I have your “source”. Thanks.

I thought this was going to be about how the "left" have become more interested in Judith Butler than Marx and Engels

Winter2020 · 28/10/2025 20:06

I think there is an ongoing disagreement over whether men (I think particularly men) from some countries commit more crime on average.

People that are pro-immigration often argue that they don't.

I think the time is long over due for the government to keep and publish crime statistics by country of origin/time in the country and immigration status. This could obviously then be looked at per 1000 citizens and compared to other groups.

Then pro and anti immigration views can argue with facts rather than their own anecdotal evidence.

If the people arriving in vast numbers are safe and no more likely to commit crime/violent crime or sexual crime than Joe Bloggs from the midlands then that information will be powerful for the people wanted to offer asylum to many to have. If some people coming into the country are more likely to be involved in certain types of crime then we deserve to have that information to hand when discussions are had and decisions are made.

And no "black" categories. Someone who came to Britain in 1950 from the Caribbean has nothing in common with someone who came last year from Afganistan or Syria and they should not be a group for statistical purposes.

If you are interested Google "Nigeria gay survey attitudes" and see many pages of information.
But I suspect you may not be sincerely interested.

Abhannmor · 28/10/2025 20:12

I'm a leftist. We only have one job. To improve the material conditions of the less well off. We failed since 1979. So our leaders embarked on various displacement activities. Social housing? Sorry. You know how it is. Have a pretty lanyard. Oh and take a pronoun with it. Hell, take 7 . They're free ...

Jamaican culture is openly anti gay as well, Jamaicans have been living here for decades and this hasn't made UK gay peoples' lives harder nor stopped them from expressing their homosexuality, so why would having Nigerians here be any different?

Gosh! So you’d rather lock people up than let them have free speech.

You’re happy to casually use a racist slur against white people

and support threats of violence to silence people.

And people wonder they support for the left is evaporating.

So to go full circle and answer my original question you are happy for hundreds of thousands of people that hold anti gay views to move to the UK. Their views are no barrier to them being allowed to come.

I actually will go and see if the increase in Nigerians in the UK has had any impact on the lives of Gay people in the aggregate. I mean Nigerians have been here decades (intensifying maybe since 2000) but it seems to have had zero impact on Britain and our commitment to gay rights.

And as you point out Windrush Generation has been here over 3/4 a century with once again no discernible impact to gay rights?

You’re making an assumption on what views an individual holds and how they express those views.

My source is being told face to face by a person from Nigeria, about their views and about life in Nigeria.

You only have my word for that but a simple Google can tell you plenty about attitudes to gay people in Nigeria if you are interested. Which I suspect you are not.

JHound · 28/10/2025 20:37

The reality is that Martin Luther King was right when he said we should be judged on the content of our character not the colour of our skin

Ok but you know that anecdote and data are not the same right? An individual sharing their personal experience is not empirical evidence for how a majority think?

But as I said before I was only interested in a source for your claim. When anybody says “that’s how a majority of XX” think I am curious to know how they know that.

Type in "Nigerians hate gay people".Sources that immediately appear include your beloved Guardian and BBC. There are dozens and dozens of easily acessible sources.

Stop being belligerently stupid.

Nigeria is not safe for gay people.

You questioned that. I gave you proof.

It's definitely not ok to be a homophobe or to defend homophobes.

Winter2020 · 28/10/2025 20:42

I bet the Swedes wish they had made an assumption that men from Syria would not fit into their society and align with their values before they ended up with bombs being used hundreds of times in gang violence.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/feb/11/sweden-freedom-of-information-laws-deadly-bombings

Should the Swedes continue to treat each Syrian as an individual while their country is ravaged by their violence?

Nope I did not question that. I questioned a specific comment made by a PP.

You should read the quote threads properly.

Batmanisaplaceinturkey · 28/10/2025 20:54

Lots of pinkwashing going on here. Meanwhile bet these posters don't give a damn about the lives of gay people.
"What about the women!"
"What about gay people!"
"What about..." and so on
As if these Nigel Farage fans really care about the lives of women/gay people etc.

We see you. Its bullshit.

Swiftasthewind · 28/10/2025 19:22

This is how it is in most developed countries including the likes of Germany, USA and South Korea. I won’t lie, it makes as good a case as any for banning men from voting!

So you’re not a fan of free speech OR democracy. Par for the course I guess.

So your Bingo Card is filled up by people making perfectly reasonable statements that align with reality.

Well done.

No need to laugh at and mock the late Martin Luther King's irrefutable wisdom then.
