Ironically, this is somewhat of a rant.

Is everyone too scared to stand up to the constant hate filled rants for fear of being called "woke"?

Is the constant inference that VAWG is only perpetrated by brown men not worth standing up to?

Is the rhetoric that all of our problems are caused only by small boats and not legal migration or billionaires not problematic? For the record, I believe it is a problem, but not the only problem and not even the biggest problem. I believe the system is the problem.

The increasingly hostile movement against anyone that is non white is making people fearful of going about their every day lives and people seem to just want to sit on the sidelines and refuse to call it out.

Where is everyone?

I feel like this post might turn into a gaslighting shit show, but fuck it, I've had enough.

People are constantly shut down on MN, Reddit and various other sites. And any discussion of real problems is always met with “But white British men do it too” No shit Sherlock. It was/is the same when women objected to having men in their bathrooms/hospital wards and other spaces “But you have a toilet at home that’s uni sex” “You’re more likely to be harmed by a cis man”, “You’re transphobic” etc. It’s a struggle to get any real nuanced discussion where both sides are listening though at least MN is somewhat of an improvement on Reddit in that respect.

You are shut down because you don’t have a right to say whatever you feel like on a public forum. That is how society works. If you have a problem with immigration then you keep it to yourself. This country does not belong to you, you don’t have the right to decide who does or does not belong here. Just keep your mouth shut, pay your taxes and stay out of trouble with the law. That is what is expected of you as a citizen. Your life will not get any worse because your new neighbours are from Afghanistan, in fact you might get invited to their house to enjoy some food that’s actually delicious and well seasoned.

But if I have sat down with someone and they tell me that if their kids were gay they would kick them out it's not a negative generalisation is it? It's cold hard fact. And it's cold hard fact that this is the majority view in some countries. (Nigeria in this case)

Why should gay people in the UK have their lives made harder by us welcoming hundreds of thousands of people from anti gay countries and cultures?

Why should women have their lives made harder/less free by welcoming hundreds of thousands of people that think western dress is justifucation for sexual assault?

Edit to say this is not just views held by asylum seekers but people working and on visas.

Where is the data that show this is a majority view in Nigeria?

I’m fed up of pile-ons whenever I comment from a leftist viewpoint.

Yes i really see this.
I am politically quite central ( mostly eye roll at left and right) but there's mounting vitriol on here. I understand much of the criticism of Labour but I find it incredulous that the previous failures of the Conservatives are forgotten and people think moving further to the right would help the average UK citizen

I think also there is constant movement in the balance point in societies between left and right.

When things are going well, people tend to be more socially minded, more willing to be taxed harder and have their money spent on things for the "collective" and also help out people poorer than themselves.

When things are going badly, the economy goes tits up, taxes are high, services bad they tend to want to keep more of their own resources and look to their own wants and needs rather than consider helping other people.

I think the balance point between left and right politics with probably the right dominating at the moment is a reflection on how the majority feel.

There is probably some technical name for this.

I really like the point you’re making here!!

This is interesting - just out today - YouGov poll:

I listened to a podcast recently about shifts to the left and right. Apparently for males the split is consistent across age groups but apparently for females a significant % of younger voters are moving left

Is your comment some kind of ironic joke in keeping with the original poster?

you think it’s a better idea if only one side (yours) can share their opinion, and the other side should be threatened with violence from your side if they share theirs? And that makes them the bigot and not you?!?

make it make sense.

If Nigeria is so safe for gay people we won't need to give asylum to any people claiming their being gay is causing them to flee will we?

Or would you like to have it both ways?
Nigerian people are generally accepting of gay people and can claim asylum from Nigeria for being gay?

Now there is a surprise.

This is how it is in most developed countries including the likes of Germany, USA and South Korea. I won’t lie, it makes as good a case as any for banning men from voting!

Conservative Men (at least in the USA) are making that same argument about women!

Yes it’s instinctive survival technique as the world’s precious resources are hoarded by a tiny fraction of people who are getting richer and richer.

Then, I worked in a working class community and saw for them that the impact of migration was very different than it was for me.

This is the crux of the matter for me. I worked for the NHS for years, the NHS makes the UN look like it's lacking in diversity, I had many amazing colleagues from all over the world. It's only in recent years I've come to appreciate how privileged that made me. Not everyone's experience of immigration is the same or always positive. Whateve ideology it is that's masquerading as left wing politics these days usually loves "lived experience" until it's inconvenient and then they just want the "chavs" to shut up. It's so arrogant and disrespectful.

Its also arrogant and disrespectful to wheel out the WC experience to strengthen the conservative arguments of the privileged. Most of whom couldn't give a damn about WC people unless their enhanced victim status can be harnessed for a cause.
A good example being the anti DEI threads, when suddenly everyone cares about the poor WC boys from sink estates they'd normally cross the road to avoid, just because they can be used as an example of white people missing out.
Whenever something is inconvenient, risky, unpleasant or undesirable, WC people will be first in line to take the flak. That goes without saying. Anyone who really cares about this needs to be addressing the root cause, rather than manipulating disadvantaged people into thinking if we just get rid of this or that scapegoat all will be well.
Because it won't. Remove every last immigrant from the UK and the improvement to the lives of low income WC people will be negligible. Because its not asylum seekers who are keeping them poor and ill housed and leaving their neighbourhoods ill policed and neglected.

You haven’t seen the pile one on recent threads? I didn’t participate in one the other day but the only argument I kept seeing was “White British men commit crime too” over and over again. Any evidence that there are some real problems with immigration as it stands and not the racist hysteria you often get on FB, is greeted by the same kneejerk statements which never actually address the issues.

I can’t bear Farage and co either btw. He doesn’t really care about the people of this country and is just using it to gain power and heaven help us when he does but I feel politically homeless now because the Left seem mostly interested in appeasing/cosseting their self appointed best friends of the week than dealing with real issues and abusing/cancelling anyone who disagrees with them. For them women saying no to men is a bigger problem deserving of more action and derision than violent men threatening to rape, harm and kill women who say no to women’s spaces.

I live in a very multicultural city - some not well integrated.
I don't see any fearful non whites - haven't seen any white racists either. A few non white ones.
The press are doing a great job of whipping this up tho....

I live in a city where white supremacy is now being voiced and non-white adults, teens and kids are fearful at school and at home. My own kids are choosing to not going out when they know the protests are on. These kids can trace their history back four generations in this city but necessary their skin is brown they are experiencing abuse in their home town.

Cinnamon77 · 28/10/2025 19:30

I don't care about this disproportionate argument - white men rape as well and there are more of them in this country, so that's why we need to be more wary of a white man following us than any other skin colour, which in itself racist

I thought that it wouldn’t take long for you to pop up. You tried on another thread, to claim that there’s no evidence that Egypt is worse for women than the UK even though there’s a plethora of evidence out there that can be found within a few seconds of Googling so forgive me if I refuse to take you seriously on this thread also and have minimal interactions with you. Not to mention your comment about “so called grooming gangs”. I don’t know if you’re a troll or genuinely that deluded but you have absolutely no interest in anything besides your own agenda and you completely ignored any actual evidence posted on that thread.

Also I can and do prepare my own well seasoned food thank you very much. There are plenty of spices in my spice trolley(Too many for a rack)
