You literally couldn’t make this shit up.

This country is broken.

Reform should send David Lamey a big thankyou note for this gift.

I agree with this.

People are pushing this “anti vawg” rhetoric but it’s actually hiding a deep seated xenophobia imo

Stop deflecting. You might not care but many do.

It makes you think that if this has happened in such a high profile case how often does it happen with all the others?

i don’t actually care whether he’s an asylum seeker or a home grown sex offender but ffs!

It does make a difference. If you believe we have a problem with ‘homegrown’ sex offenders, why would you allow immigration from the countries where such behaviour is rife, and make a bad problem worse?

Anyway, perhaps Labour and Tories both imagine they’ll be able to make a comeback a few years down the road, with clean hands, all the difficult problems sorted out in unpalatable ways and smugly say "wasn't it awful what the evil far right Reform party did? At least we never sacrificed our Labour/Conservative/Liberal values." They don’t have answers for the enormous problems facing us now, and they know it.

Your ignorance is shining, tbh. It’s well known that the Epping protests have been massively driven by women each week. They are still ongoing, btw.

Sorry if this doesn’t fit your worldly, liberal viewpoint.

Yeah, her post made no sense. It has everything to do with women. Most of us on MN who are angry are women. We're angry on behalf of not only ourselves but other women and girls.

Reading the details of what was done to the young mother has made me cry this evening. An ordinary woman, just working a minimum wage job to pay the rent and bills, having to use public transport to get home from her shift late at night. Stabbed in the head over twenty times with a screwdriver. Five year old left behind.

And getting upset about unvetted young men being put up in communities with no oversight is apparently racist. So many concerns about the rights of these men, zero concern about the safety of women and girls. It makes me despair. You just know that this won't change anything.

Yes.

It is high time the Labour party stopped pretending they give even a minimal shiny shit about the women and girls of this country.

And I rarely swear on here.

Is there any prison staff that can explain prisoner discharge and what can lead to this happening?
Obviously it's a monumental fuck up and what can be done to stop it happening.

How has this happened? Does it often happen?

It’s actually ten times worse when a woman, tells other women that they shouldn’t be worried, about a massive threat to women. It’s traitorous.

They were men who committed crimes, the BBC doesn't actually have to say they are asylum seekers. Far more men who are not asylum seekers commit crimes against women every day. They aren't reported as 'man who a born and bred in UK commits crime'. why not ?

And David Lammy is hardly personally responsible for a mistale by a prison ( a prison system the tories had more than enough time to reform but did nothing about.)

But the system attracts criminals. If you were a wanted criminal in a foreign country and you could leave and start a new life in another country without any documentation, why wouldn't you?

2 women a week in the UK alone are murdered by men they know.

Are you up in arms about that?

Women will get murdered and raped daily whether illegal immigrants are here or not.

I agree that immigration is a massive issue, but let's not pretend women and girls would be safe if all male asylum seekers disappeared tomorrow.

We're not pretending that, we're saying we have a big enough home grown problem of male sex offenders as it is, let's not import anymore. Why would you want to make a problem bigger?

I see they are going to sentence the Sudanese murderer “ when they have determined his real age”. So another one of his achievements was pretending to be a minor to advance his asylum case.

Some men much more so than others, as we know, so we could do something about it if anyone had the gumption.

Nothing new though, many of these women have been shouting "bigot" at TERFs for years. Inexplicably.

You're right, it does feel traitorous coming from another woman. How can they not see whats happening?

All men are a potential threat to women.

But especially ones who, in their own countries, are accustomed to believe women can be sexually abused and raped, right? Like the guy who came over, raped a child and said he didn't know it was illegal?

PeonyPatch · 24/10/2025 20:32

I am statistically more likely to be murdered by my husband or a male family member or friend known to me.

Does that mean I won’t get likely be targeted by a male asylum seeker? No, it does not.

The man who escaped that prison or was freed is a paedophile. You might be living next door to a UK paedophile.

I am NOT using the asylum seeker problem (which we do have in this country) as fuel against the violence against women and young girls epidemic we have. It is another risk, but it is a separate risk and it is a PART of the asylum seeker issue we are facing. It is not the only part of the issue or the reason to be anti asylum seekers.

matresense · 24/10/2025 20:33

@BoredZelda

look, I’m really not saying anything very controversial. There’s no need to be so rude. It’s called a refugee convention, not a migration from poor countries convention . I don’t think anyone would have expected it to be used guys who were mechanics in Ethiopia and, to be honest, any argument that it did is likely to result in people wanting to exit the whole thing, which would be terrible for more deserving refugees.
