You literally couldn’t make this shit up.

This country is broken.

Reform should send David Lamey a big thankyou note for this gift.

Christina Patterson (previously at The Independent) on sky papers review just now:

"I would invite him in for a cup of tea. This is a really unfortunate case of cultural misunderstanding... Obviously it's terrible for that girl, but I don't believe he's dangerous and he's obviously just in need of some compassion".

Gillian Joseph has just had to reiterate that this is Not official advice.

The shit just gets more and more surreal. These people have lost the plot.

Hence why illegal immigrants. Get it?

This should help you.

Because these crimes would not have happened if the UK asylum system was working. Those little girls and women would not have been raped or killed if these men were not in the country.

Some nationalities commit some crimes at disproportionate rates to the native British, that should not be ignored or swept under the rug. It helps no one.

I'm far from a reform supporter as an immigrant myself, but this is just stupid. Unvetted criminal men should not be given an opportunity to be freely roaming the UK committing crime.

True!

Yes this is where I am regarding the issue. Clearly there was some sort of cultural misunderstanding that could have been averted if the stewards in charge of the asylum seekers at the hotel had educated these folks about the cultural expectations of women in the west.

This is on us. Of course crime must be punished but if people are ignorant of what they can and can’t do in this country, then isn’t that entrapment of some kind?

If you are a woman, your views are actually a threat to the safety of women in this country. It’s more than just ignorance on your part. It’s dangerous for other woman in this country. And that should worry women greatly, that people with these dangerous views exist among us putting us all in danger.

I'm fairly sure randomly feeling up teenage girls and attacking other ones who try to intervene is also frowned upon by women in Ethiopia, but that might be my western colonial preconceptions? Does that mean Ethiopian women don't mind that sort of thing?

Please just give it a rest with the fear-mongering, this country is more diverse than ever and it has never been safer to be a woman here. The men from these countries that are apparently so misogynistic are some of the nicest people you will ever meet, far more respectful than white British men. The lived reality just doesn’t track with what you say and people can see right through it. So please stop. Go outside and live your life. Meet an Afghani man and strike up a conversation, widen your horizons. I think it will do you good.

Maybe she can let us know how that goes?

Beggars belief 🤦‍♀️
Would a chat and a cup of tea prevented the other AS stabbing a young mother 23 times with a screwdriver - he was found guilty yesterday thanks to forensic evidence, he denied if all of course.

Just like the other poor chap had no way of knowing that stabbing a woman in the head repeatedly until she died, wasn’t the done thing in the UK. If only someone had told him…

Thistlewoman · 26/10/2025 00:19

AmyDudley · 24/10/2025 18:23

They were men who committed crimes, the BBC doesn't actually have to say they are asylum seekers. Far more men who are not asylum seekers commit crimes against women every day. They aren't reported as 'man who a born and bred in UK commits crime'. why not ?

And David Lammy is hardly personally responsible for a mistale by a prison ( a prison system the tories had more than enough time to reform but did nothing about.)

Tell us there are no asylum seekers housed in Hotels/HMOs in your leafy/affluent suburb without saying the words 'there are no asylum seekers housed in hotels/hmos in my leafy/affluent suburb' ....🙄

I’m sorry, did you just use a slavery argument to try and disprove my point? Are you aware that Britain (and therefore British men) practically invented slavery in the 1700’s?

You know, the Transatlantic slave trade? Did you even bother to learn in school?

No offence, but you seem a bit slower than your username would imply. 🤣

Did you know that there are currently more than 3x the number of slaves in the world today than were trafficked over the entire 300-400 years of the transatlantic slave trade? And not a single western country is in the top ten worst offenders.

And the British invented slavery in the 1700s? Please just stop. 🤣🤣🤣

You might want to read up on something called the Roman Empire. They had 'a few' slaves around 300BC - 2000 years before the 1700's! And if you want to go REALLY far back there were slaves in Mesopotamia around 3500BC - over 3000 years before the Romans.

So, basically slavery had been around for well over 5000 years before 1700AD.

It’s all about getting in the last word with you isn’t it? Well whatever, you seem to think your arguments are so persuasive and if that’s the case, then perhaps I am right to have such little faith in the people of this country.

I will be alright though. When Reform get in, I will just relocate to Ireland as a dual national. Perhaps I will go there anyway, they don’t seem to be suffering the same scapegoating of asylum seekers and their endorsement of the State of Palestine from the start has always been admirable.

They’ve just been rioting about illegal immigrants in Ireland as a girl was assaulted by one living in a nearby hotel.
Sincerely hope Ireland grants you asylum from our terrible country, bye bye.
