Yes this is where I am regarding the issue. Clearly there was some sort of cultural misunderstanding that could have been averted if the stewards in charge of the asylum seekers at the hotel had educated these folks about the cultural expectations of women in the west.

This is on us. Of course crime must be punished but if people are ignorant of what they can and can’t do in this country, then isn’t that entrapment of some kind?

If you are a woman, your views are actually a threat to the safety of women in this country. It’s more than just ignorance on your part. It’s dangerous for other woman in this country. You might want to read up on something called the Roman Empire. They had 'a few' slaves around 300BC - 2000 years before the 1700's! And if you want to go REALLY far back there were slaves in Mesopotamia around 3500BC - over 3000 years before the Romans.

So, basically slavery had been around for well over 5000 years before 1700AD.
