You literally couldn’t make this shit up.

This country is broken.

Reform should send David Lamey a big thankyou note for this gift.

...and did you see Mariella Frostrup on Question Time saying that we are "dehumanising immigrants"?

Typical elite luvvie, living in her privileged bubble, spouting virtues without any acknowledgement of reality. Thats why these people are laughed at by the general public.

And how do you know that exactly? For all you and I know, there are many people who feel too intimidated to come on and voice their dissent against the hive mind that seems to be attracted to threads like this but agree with me wholeheartedly.

It’s not exactly a safe opinion these days to be pro immigrant and pro multiculturalism.

Edited

I think you’ll find that most people are pro immigration, though.

It’s allowing the hoards of men, who we know nothing about, names, ages, place of origin, medical backgrounds, criminal backgrounds etc into the country. You don’t see how this poses a danger, especially to women and children? Or you don’t care?

Yes I think it still is 0.5 of the sentence for sex offenders, so six months. He was arrested in July so shouldn’t have been released for deportation till end of January earliest?

There are sometimes agreements in place for them to continue their sentences in their own country. If that wasn’t the case then heads need to roll.

They were men who committed crimes, the BBC doesn't actually have to say they are asylum seekers. Far more men who are not asylum seekers commit crimes against women every day. They aren't reported as 'man who a born and bred in UK commits crime'. why not ?

And David Lammy is hardly personally responsible for a mistale by a prison ( a prison system the tories had more than enough time to reform but did nothing about.)

He was supposed to be in prison!

And that’s not me making any particular judgement on any culture by the way, I don’t believe that any culture is inherently better or worse than another. It is purely just making a point on how different some cultures see things, it’s part of what makes diversity so amazing in many respects.

Nothing amazing about this situation

Look, I know you don’t like to admit the obvious, but for those who can read, they’ll read the replies and see how many people you have managed to convince with your well known and celebrated influential style.

If anything, you have provided comedic value with some real gems that have attracted nothing but laughter. On such a serious subject.

It’s all about getting in the last word with you isn’t it? Well whatever, you seem to think your arguments are so persuasive and if that’s the case, then perhaps I am right to have such little faith in the people of this country.

I will be alright though. When Reform get in, I will just relocate to Ireland as a dual national. Perhaps I will go there anyway, they don’t seem to be suffering the same scapegoating of asylum seekers and their endorsement of the State of Palestine from the start has always been admirable.

Dublin.

You may want to take a look at what's happening in Dublin with regards to asylum seekers....

But I thought all people were the same, and if foreign-born men were raping women here it must be something in British society making them do it?

And, just to be absolutely clear - you don't think a culture that gouges the clitoris out of a young girl, whilst she is fully conscious, is inferior to one that doesn't? You don't think a culture that punishes rapists by ordering the rapist's sister to be publicly gang-raped is inferior to one that punishes rapists by sending them to prison? That a culture that throws gay men off buildings, or drags them to their death tied to the back of a fast-moving vehicle, is inferior to one that allows consenting adults to build relationships however they see fit? Or that a culture that flogs, imprisons or even stones to death women for being raped is maybe worse than our own? How about beating the devil out of small children, or torturing and murdering the disabled? You think all these - very real, and current - cultures are equal, and you think having a nation comprising a diverse mix of people who wholeheartedly embrace all these values would be "amazing"?

If you leaving for Ireland is anything like your earlier announcement to leave this thread, then I think we all know how that’s going to go.

But yeah, you should be preparing for a Reform government. The constant gaslighting about migration was only ever going to lead that outcome.

Alright so I took what you said in good faith and googled news in Dublin and I’m confused. An incident is alleged to have occurred (yes alleged) and a small group of working class people decided to indulge in their favourite pastime of setting off fireworks and intimidating law enforcement. How does that change how the Irish view immigration on the whole?

Or are you going to revert to type and say my lived experience is a lie?

And yes slashing the welfare budget can’t come soon enough. It’s out of control. If Reform don’t do it, the IMF will. You’re finally starting to accept it.

No I will do no such thing. Maybe you are being truthful about your experience or maybe your real name is Ivan and you are playing us all for fools, how would I ultimately know?

But if you are being truthful, what county do you happen to reside in? I only ask so I know where NOT to settle when I escape the UK.

Yeh. Revert to type when youre losing the argument. 🥳

If your moral compass is evidenced by your earlier promise to leave then im afraid youve already shown that you can't stick to your convictions.

So thankfully us Irish are fairly safe from your infiltrating our beautiful emerald Isle 😅

Swiftasthewind · 25/10/2025 21:31

If you have any man in the sphere of your daily life you run the risk of something terrible happening, that’s just a fact of life. At least this man can be potentially educated, I have seen that some people struggled with the ideas of consent laws in western countries and with better knowledge perhaps a lot of this can be avoided. It’s worth a try over some of the other suggested solutions is it not?

I have seen that some people struggled with the ideas of consent laws in western countries

You do know that there are laws on consent (ie rape is illegal) in pretty much all countries including ‘non western countries’? Are you seriously suggesting that certain countries are so backward they don’t even have laws against rape?

The trouble is the lack of enforcement and a misogynistic culture. Coincidentally, we also have a lack of enforcement so bringing in a whole load of hard to identify men who think it’s ok to rape just increases rapes. You clearly don’t feel like you are at risk - your luxury beliefs mean you have no empathy for women actually harmed by this.

Just make sure one those "principled and intelligent people' you surround yourself with communicate what you can and can't do as a new arrival. Otherwise there's obviously a problem that needs to be addressed in Ireland too.

Mariella clearly suffers from a serious dose of luxury beliefs - she could hardly contain herself with her ridiculous accusations.

She was on such a righteous trip that she couldn’t comprehend what Nadine Dorries was saying about Jess Phillips lying in Parliament and started demanding an explanation that Nadine had already supplied. It was a bit odd.

Asylum seekers do you mean? You are not an illegal immigrant until your application to live here is rejected surely?

If they're not arriving by the legal route they are illegal immigrants.

Lalgarh · 25/10/2025 23:17

Christina Patterson (previously at The Independent) on sky papers review just now:

"I would invite him in for a cup of tea. This is a really unfortunate case of cultural misunderstanding... Obviously it's terrible for that girl, but I don't believe he's dangerous and he's obviously just in need of some compassion".

Gillian Joseph has just had to reiterate that this is Not official advice.
