You literally couldn’t make this shit up.

This country is broken.

Reform should send David Lamey a big thankyou note for this gift.

They don’t have to ‘pay’. We should have a better system completely. The one we have is not good for women and girls.

Totally agree. The system we have now isn't working for anyone.

EsmaCannonball · 24/10/2025 22:32

JudgeJ · 24/10/2025 21:32

It's not the right who are encouraging the world and his wife to come here for an easy life nor is it the right who are desperate for them to stay. Unfortunately as has already been noted, the left are the biggest recruiters for Reform and then they complain.

I don't know so much. Immigration under the Tories was off the scale and those people love cheap labour and their friends' companies turning everywhere into HMOs and migrant hotels.

CorneliaCupp · 24/10/2025 22:27

Most asylum seekers are good. The vast majority.

At least you admit that you don't care.

More men in this country don’t commit crime than do. I know plenty of lovely men. I don’t get offended though on their behalf when people point out that of the 98% sexual and violent crimes that do occur, they are committed by men. They are the more problematic sex class. Add into this the added potential problem of those from cultures with vastly different values and attitudes towards women.

Why does this bother you to point this out and why are you offended on their behalf. Because you know a few nice ones?

Mamalasira · 24/10/2025 22:34

Kendodd · 24/10/2025 22:31

I think we should stop taking male asylum seekers and take as many women as we can, get them safe away from the awful men in their countries.
We took tens of thousands of women and children from Ukraine, any of them rape anyone?

I agree, I'd take every girl and woman from Afghanistan, if it was possible.

sunshinestar1986 · 24/10/2025 22:34

Fluffyholeysocks · 24/10/2025 18:52

I dont think anyone is pretending women and girls would be safe if all male asylum seekers disappeared tomorrow. But Rhiannon Whyte would still be alive.

Edited

If you weren't blaming asylum seekers for your woes
You'd probably be blaming northeners, Scots, the Irish etc
In the 50s it was the Blacks and Irish (and the dogs of course)
So yeah u gotta 'other' people and you always need to feel like if it weren't for that and that life would've been just dandy.
What a miserable lot

EasternStandard · 24/10/2025 22:35

OnlyMabelInTheBuilding · 24/10/2025 22:30

Not one single asylum seeker (man, woman or child) is worth what happened to Rhiannon. Not one.

The system isn’t worth it. There’s no point in ‘deporting’ after a horrendous crime. It doesn’t bring Rhiannon back.

Close it down and if totally necessary vet properly if people really want a small amount of asylum seekers here. I don’t mind if we do or don’t. I know this current system isn’t working.

It doesn't bother me at all when people point out that this man was an asylum seekers, that's a fact.
It bothers me when people try to extrapolate this to suggest that all asylum seekers are a risk - they aren't.
I disagree with those that say because of this horrendous crime, the UK should refuse all those claiming asylum.
That's all.

I blame an asylum seeker for Rhiannon"s murder. Am I wrong??

Livelovebehappy · 24/10/2025 22:36

CorneliaCupp · 24/10/2025 22:21

This man was a criminal, the vast majority of refugees and asylum seekers are not.

I beg to differ. Where do you get that information? The government don’t want the crimes committed by these lone men to be reported in the media. They want us to shut up and put up. The ones reported are just the tip of the iceberg. Labour don’t want to stem the tide, it’s not who they are. The majority of the back benchers are very much in favour of allowing them in, which shows in the wishy washy way Starmer is trying to sort out the situation - ie the rushed through, but not thought through, process of one in one out. And they criticised the Rwanda scheme - but Labour’s attempt at resolution is total BS. A small token attempt to pacify the masses.

HRTQueen · 24/10/2025 22:37

ninjahamster · 24/10/2025 18:33

The fact he was an asylum seeker is irrelevant.
The issue here is that a prisoner was released incorrectly.

It isn’t irrelevant

the issue with so many men entering the UK as asylum seekers we have no idea of their background, who is a sex offender, who has a criminal

How can you check who will commit a horrendous crime like the one Rhiannon suffered?

Currently you can’t.

fatcat2007 · 24/10/2025 22:38

Wasn’t he sentenced to a year in September? So I don’t understand why we would even be deporting a dangerous sexual predator who hasn’t even served his sentence? Should he be free to commit this type of crime, just somewhere else? Do those women and girls not matter? He should serve his time and only be sent overseas if it’s to complete his sentence. The whole point of prison is to protect the public.

It’s a safeguarding issue. It’s like how not all men are a risk to women but single sex provisions exist. Unchecked males from cultures with values that don’t align when it comes to women, flags massive safeguarding issues. It’s naive (understatement) to think it doesn’t.

the reason for Rhiannon’s family’s woes is an asylum seeker, and the reason for the girl in Epping’s woes is an asylum seeker (who this whole thread is about)

Have you listened to Rhiannon’s case and how her five year old was told? Nothing to that?

I mean you could, they just don’t want to because this way made more money. Let people apply from overseas, come in, vetted, by a safe route, cleared and permitted to work and pay their way. So much safer, more humane and dignified, and better for the taxpayer. Less good for those who would like to make a profit from the taxpayer, or are getting political capital out of it though.

Look, we don’t misunderstand your belief. We just don’t agree with you. Even if one is bad and 99.99999999% are good… it’s not worth the 0.0000001%!

The fact most are good is irrelevant. The fact that it’s possible one or most is not good, is enough to say no to them all.

That's not the argument I made though.
There is no evidence that refugees and asylum seekers commit more crime than anyone else, therefore I don't think that we should refuse to accept all asylum seekers because of this crime.

Im far more likely to be killed by my husband than an asylum seeker in the street.

Some nationalities are convicted of some crimes at a disproportionate rate. You cannot extrapolate they are more likely to commit the crime without looking at everything that happens up to that point. You first need to take into account the institutional racism of the police

With all due respect. Bollocks.

Perhaps you don't understand, as someone who had to flee a country where women have no value, let me enlighten you.

Unaccompanied women and children are there to be raped. If their men don't look after their possessions then they are considered a worthless whore. If a woman is raped and admits it she will most likely be killed, if she survived the attack in the first place. If her husband and family are very kind she will just be shunned and outcast. Women have no rights. Children are disposable.

My father fled with us because he didn't want that life for his wife and daughters. I am beyond grateful to have been able to grow up safely here and given opportunities I would never have been. My elderly mother in increasingly worried that our homelands problems are being imported wholesale to the UK.

If you genuinely believe that men come from countries where women are seen as nothing, and suddenly start acting like women are equal, you are incredibly naive, and stupid.

@sunshinestar1986 before you dismiss @PreciousTatas post, please do read this previous post of hers, and consider that she might actually have a perspective that you could learn from.

matresense · 24/10/2025 22:46

@CorneliaCupp

So if we could prove that asylum seekers committed more crime and in particular more violent crime, then you’d be happy to agree that we should vet more carefully or perhaps not accept at all?
