To have done this to his clothes?

Bloke im seeing - first time he stayed at my house he had a shower and then left all his clothes (work uniform etc) folded (in a fashion) and piled up on the toilet. I went in to use the toilet, picked up his clothes and moved them into the bedroom.

Second time he stayed, he did the same thing so I went in to use the toilet, picked up his clothes and shouted of him to come and move them which he did.

3rd time - same thing - this time I didn’t pick them up, I just shouted of him to come and move them and asked him to stop doing this as I don’t want to be moving his clothes everytime I use the bathroom. He made a sarky “ooo ok boss” comment but moved them. I was pissed off and told him it’s a bit ridiculous that a grown man would leave his clothes like that for someone else to sort out! He said I was making a mountain out of a molehill.

So last night he stayed over again - same thing happened so this time I simply swiped the lot onto the floor, used the toilet and then got a shower myself. Accidentally on purpose stood on his clothes as I got out of the shower so they were wet.

An hour or so later he went to use the toilet and came back asking how his clothes got wet. I said they were on the floor. He said no they weren’t, they were on the toilet so I said yeah but then I needed to use the toilet so they ended up on the floor”.

He went in a full on mood about it saying it was petty and disrespectful and maybe he should treat my clothes the same way. I said he could - but he’d have to take them out of the drawer or wardrobe to do it which would be a bit weird.

so, who is BU, me or him?

Get rid. My ex used to drop his stuff on floor. I picked it up once then after that left it on the floor. He was sweet, kind ,considerate and unselfish in bed so I did not LTB😄

I can't believe so many people have voted YANBU?!?!

Also, you sound like you can't stand the man so not really sure why you're even dating him?

HappyNewTaxYear · 22/10/2025 14:59

Dockerty · 22/10/2025 14:16

No and no to both those questions. Very much the opposite on both

What’s wrong with you then? I just don’t understand. He’s a messy arse and not a good shag. Why the hell are you with him? Please explain.

user927464 · 22/10/2025 15:01

Honestly you sound really petty and immature and you're clearly not well matched so just end it.

Catpiece · 22/10/2025 15:09

MotherTuckinGenius · 22/10/2025 14:22

How gross that he thinks the bog is an appropriate place to leave his clothes 🤮

That’s what boggles my mind. I’ve never heard the like! What the actual fuck! Who the hell does that?!!!

Irritatedandsad · 22/10/2025 15:14

He left them folded on the toilet. Hardly a crime. You swiped them onto the floor then trampled over them whilst wet from the shower, which is really petty and spiteful.
Sometimes people just can't live together, it's one little thing and neither of you compromised or found a way to mutually and respectfully deal with the issue.
I can't see this boding well for the future.

Greggsit · 22/10/2025 15:27

He's being lazy, you're being childish. You're both being pathetic and this won't last anyway.

Hardly a crime, no. But we have 1 toilet in this house, am I meant to sort out his clothes for him everytime I need to use the toilet?

TastelessMiserySand · 22/10/2025 15:49

The fact that you asked him not to do it, and yet he went and did it again anyway (in YOUR home) would be enough for me to stop seeing him. It doesnt matter that the request was about where to put clothes, it's the principle. It's disrespectful and will probably ly be the tip of the iceberg if he gets any more comfortable in your space, or if you end up sharing a home. There are far nicer people out there x

thechampselysee · 22/10/2025 15:49

In this case, you are both being unreasonable. Why have him back when he disrespects your space like this? Also, like my mother said, two wrongs don't make a right.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 22/10/2025 15:51

He’s trying to train you to clear up after him. Dump him.

sorry but 😆😆😆
& I 😆 when I read he repeated his really weird storage idea? unbelievable, I wonder how long he’s been living alone…

LindorDoubleChoc · 22/10/2025 15:52

He sounds thick as two short planks. Very unsexy.

ohyesido · 22/10/2025 15:53

I’d be annoyed with you for deliberately soiling my clothes in order to make a point. Couldn’t you have chucked them outside the door and not stood on them to hammer the point home? X

MidlandsGal1 · 22/10/2025 15:53

You both sound immature.

Me either.

They're folded neatly, not strewn. Bloke probably doesn't know where to leave them if you're so sensitive.

You chucked them on the floor and used them as a shower mat.
Completely uncalled for.

YABU.

StrawberryJangle · 22/10/2025 15:56

I sense he left them there because your behaviour suggests he'd be wrong wherever he left them. I bet he was on eggshells.

I highly doubt it

It doesn’t need to be ‘the crime of the century’. It’s her loo, in her house, she asked him to stop and he did not.

I’d have dumped him for that, tbh. If he’s being this disrespectful this early on, he’ll be a nightmare in a few years.

ShesTheAlbatross · 22/10/2025 16:05

Ditch him. You’d asked him nicely - and really, what was he expecting leaving his clothes there? He was expecting you to tidy them up properly, be have obviously you’d have to move them to use the toilet. I’d have more sympathy with him if he’d not cared that they got wet, then at least it would show he was just messy, and wasn’t expecting you to tidy them away.

Presumably wherever she moved them to the first couple of times would be fine? It’s really not complicated.

She was more patient than I would be, no way I would have got to 3 times before asking him not to and definitely would be binning him given the 4th time! If he’s like this this early on in your home, how disrespectful will he be when not trying to impress.

Im sure he could have figured it out or... actually asked, given she'd asked him to move them twice already?

ShodAndShadySenators · 22/10/2025 16:10

Well, I'd be done. You shouldn't have to tell a grown man that on the toilet lid is not an ideal place to leave clothes, folded or not. And since you did have to tell him and then repeat it, there's no cure for him and you're going to have to return him to store (especially since you're not compatable in other ways). Have done!

Noshadelamp · 22/10/2025 16:14

Cruel, disrespectful, mean 😂 this is hilarious!
Get some self respect ffs.

So many women are prepared to pander to men, op you're obviously not one of them.

He's the one who's being disrespectful, who does he think you are, his servant?? In your house as well.

Don't let him (or weird mumsnetters) gaslight you.

Do you want to spend any more time moving clothes off the loo seat? Nah, throw him back (to his mother).
