To date a 28yo?

Last week I went on a night out with some work colleagues. I got a bit tipsy and ended up flirting with one of my colleagues who is 28! We ended up kissing. The next day I just put it down to an embarrassing event and pretended like it never happened.

We were in a meeting together today and later this afternoon he text me and asked if I wanted to go for a drink. I didn't respond and a bit later he messaged me saying he meant like on a date.

I shouldn't should I? He's just so young.

We're both single, I'm not looking for a serious relationship and I suspect he isn't either (he was previously in a very long term relationship with 2 kids).

There's no concern about dating someone I work with, my issue is purely the age gap.

How old are you?

shellyleppard · 20/10/2025 22:42

Depends on how big the age gap is??

Thatstheheatingon · 20/10/2025 22:42

Missing vital bit of info?

Ohthatsabitshit · 20/10/2025 22:42

If you’re under 35 and over 25 I’d say go for it.

Dartmoorcheffy · 20/10/2025 22:43

If your over 21 and under 55 then go for it

FOJN · 20/10/2025 22:44

What is the age gap? How could you forget to mention your age in a thread about an age gap relationship with a 28 year old?

Zov · 20/10/2025 22:44

How old are you ? @Cougarintown

Thatstheheatingon · 20/10/2025 22:44

For more clicks?

CalmShaker · 20/10/2025 22:45

Well how big is the bloody gap?
If it's more then a 60 year difference I'm voting unreasonable

Pleatherandlace · 20/10/2025 22:45

If you’re 29 I’d say it’s ok but if you’re 59, probably not

didntlikeanyofthesuggestions · 20/10/2025 22:45

Let's all guess OP's age. I'll go first.

Pleatherandlace · 20/10/2025 22:47

Good guess!

Stichintime · 20/10/2025 22:47

No.

therewasafishinthepercolator · 20/10/2025 22:48

Go for it. It's only a date and 28 isn't eww young territory. Just young territory. See how it goes.

Nailed it. Your prize is in the post

Beedeeoh · 20/10/2025 22:49

That's fine, he's a grown up. Go for it!

Cougarintown · 20/10/2025 22:50

I do sort of want to. He's hot and I'm flattered. But I'd be so embarrassed if anyone knew!

OP posts:
Pleatherandlace · 20/10/2025 22:50

I wouldn’t bother, not because of the age gap but because you work together. It’s not worth the potential fall out especially as you don’t want a relationship .

Poppyseeds79 · 20/10/2025 22:51

Are you in a senior position at work to him?
Do you think there would be potential fall out if it went tits up?
Can you handle the workplace gossip if it gets out?
Do you have kids near his age?

If none of the above apply then sure why not?

Pleatherandlace · 20/10/2025 22:51

However, if you hate your job and plan to leave anyway then go for it.

What is it only a bit of fun if neither of ye looking for a relationship 🤷🏻‍♀️..
Once it doesn’t make work awkward, only you know that OP , if it doesn’t have fun 🙌 😊
