To date a 28yo?

Last week I went on a night out with some work colleagues. I got a bit tipsy and ended up flirting with one of my colleagues who is 28! We ended up kissing. The next day I just put it down to an embarrassing event and pretended like it never happened.

We were in a meeting together today and later this afternoon he text me and asked if I wanted to go for a drink. I didn't respond and a bit later he messaged me saying he meant like on a date.

I shouldn't should I? He's just so young.

We're both single, I'm not looking for a serious relationship and I suspect he isn't either (he was previously in a very long term relationship with 2 kids).

There's no concern about dating someone I work with, my issue is purely the age gap.

Shit, sorry. I'm 42.

It’s not wrong as such but it’s not exactly a green flag, what are you going to have in common with a 27yr old your on completely different pages in life.

What was the old sickening adage? Half your age plus 7?

I wouldn’t due to working together. But when you’ve left, if you find him attractive and aren’t just flattered or whatever then go for it!

Ahhhhh fuck it, go on the date. Life's too short and what's the worst that can happen? You have an enjoyable evening, have some fun and a nice time. If neither of you are looking for anything serious then just go and have a nice date.

Don't over think it, go out and have a nice time.

So I went on the date and had a great time. We've got another one on Sunday.

Your a bit to old for him op!

ChewbaccasMrs · 24/10/2025 13:46

Go for it,as long as it won't cause any problems at work.

My DH is 7 years younger than me and we've been together for nearly 20 years now and we have an amazing relationship.
