🙄 oh my god.

OP if you want your lips done. Do it. If it doesn’t interest you then don’t.

The weird judgment on this forum is off the scale.

I don’t want them done.

I think it is a misconception that people don’t want it to be noticeable. Lots of people are happy for people to know they have had work done. It’s a bit like no one thinks wearing red lipstick won’t be noticed.

Really don't understand the point of threads like this.

"Do you have lip fillers?"

Some posters: Yes.
All other posters: No.

"Why do you have lip fillers?"

All posters: Because I wanted bigger lips.

Thanks for replying though even though you don’t see the point😜

No, not interested enough in my appearance to spend loads of money on it althoughI have thin lips. I have far bigger things in my life to worry about.

I do wonder why people worry so much about lips. I have never looked at someone and thought "wow, their lips are so thin". When people overdo the filler their lips become obvious and artificial looking then I'm far more likely to notice it. I have a very big nose which I'm sure is far more obvious than anybody's thin lips but I still wouldn't spend money changing it.

Lbet · 19/10/2025 10:23

I do think sometimes women do have them really over done and I can’t lie they look scary to look at. I guess that is why really wanted to know the reasoning behind them.

OP posts:
themerchentofvenus · 19/10/2025 10:27

No. They look awful.

I think it's sad people feel the need to deform their body and then delude themselves it looks good.

Be happy with what you have and get rid of awful people on your life that would make you feel otherwise.

PlaydohClub · 19/10/2025 10:27

Telephon · 19/10/2025 09:33

The issue with lip fillers is the really good, subtle fillers aren’t noticed because they look natural, and the really dreadful ones are really painfully obviously and look awful. Ergo, everyone thinks lip fillers look awful.

Agree.

I’m a pretty observant person but when my sister had a tiny amount of lip filler (think she said 0.5ml) I didn’t notice. It was only after she told me, I said ‘oh yes, they do look a little bit plumper’ but it looked very natural. There was no shelf and they didn’t stick out. I’ll be honest, I was quite surprised. I’m used to seeing the ‘obvious’ lip fillers where you can tell straight away. I suspect lots of people have little tweaks that look very natural, but we can’t tell because they are well done and minimal.

I suppose they're not having them done for you.

I have s lip blush, so not a filler as such but a semi permanent lip liner & lipstick

I love it, gives my face a bit of colour & still going strong after 2.5 years

Edited

Is it possible to see a pic of this please?

Thingyfanding1 · 19/10/2025 10:35

hereismydog · 19/10/2025 10:05

A ‘lip flip’ is Botox, not filler. It just exposes more of the natural lip tissue, so you actually couldn’t tell if someone had had a lip flip if you had never met them before. HTH

That’s right. I have the lip flip with Botox. I’ve never had filler as my lips are naturally quite big - just a little flat and curl under when I smile, so it stops that from happening as much.

Yes, I've had this. Two people noticed, no one else.

Nescafeneeded · 19/10/2025 10:37

No, you can always tell. With naturally big lips, the edge of the lip sits flush against the skin around it. With fillers they curl upwards leaving raised skin around the lips and a moustache-like shadow.

Berlinlover · 19/10/2025 10:41

No I don’t and I judge those that do.

Titasaducksarse · 19/10/2025 10:42

I think very thin lips are unattractive so a little bit of filler can really help. I hated my lips when I was younger and 100% would have had filler. Somehow they've naturally got a little bit fuller over the years so I've not succumbed.

SmearedLippie · 19/10/2025 10:43

No. I have full lips naturally (although not as full in middle age as they once were).

Sadly, people sometimes assume I DO as it’s so common these days and how else would I have such full lips?

notatinydancer · 19/10/2025 10:46

No. I’ve never seen any that don’t look ridiculous.

Didimum · 19/10/2025 10:47

I wish threads like these could look past superficial ‘judgement’. There is a social responsibility in understanding why a rapidly increasing number of people, especially young people, are not happy with what is a completely typical human face.

Just as there is a social responsibility to understanding many behaviours which begin to tip the balance.

Houseoftrouser25 · 19/10/2025 10:48

Someone I worked with had a lip flip
The wet inner part of the lip showed and she spat all the time .
Grim

Huntrix · 19/10/2025 10:57

I don't because I have pretty large lips anyway and I'm generally not interested in lip size. If you want filler then go for it. I'm sure some of the school mums in our school have it and it's so natural I can't even tell. Then there are the obvious ones which in my opinion look a little odd, but it's their face so they can do it if they want to.

I'm not against cosmetic procedures and have considered something for the lines I have on each side of my mouth, but admittedly only after my mum pointed them out. 🤨

DiscoNights · 19/10/2025 10:57

No. I’m not judgemental about it though. I find the way that some women judge other women to be really sad. There is so much judgement on MN about women who have procedures or who care about their appearance. Those who don’t care seem to think they’re superior.

PixellatedPixie · 19/10/2025 10:59

It’s massively determined by who does the procedure and how subtle they are. I have friends who have had mini procedures done and you cannot notice anything at all! Now that I do it myself I notice that they has fewer lines than other people their age but that is it.

Botox done by a doctor - who themselves do not have anything noticeable done to their faces - is the best option. You will then still have movement - not a frozen forehead or puffed out lips. The practitioner can also keep you in check if you start wanting more and more filler or Botox that will look unnatural. Tretonoin cream is prescription only but also keeps the wrinkles at bay.

Londontown12 · 19/10/2025 11:00

Nope never will !
This reason why people do it is because social media pushes beauty standards which are now very off base !
like u can’t age u should be looking 20 at 50 !
And this will never happen if your 50 your 50 except it as part of the ageing process !
It rarely looks great no matter who has it done if the individual feels better in themselves fair dos but if the social norm was to enjoy and embrace the ageing process no one would be feeling insecure ! We would all be embracing a time in our lives that we have aged and accomplished things it’s not all about looks and this is something that is all consuming atm !!! X

Griegecurtains · 19/10/2025 11:02

I've had 0.5 twice in the last 3 years, and the difference it made to me is huge. I had no top lip but a normal bottom lip so it's just evened it out somewhat but it's by no means obvious. Definitely not overfilled or a duck pout, and I've been assured by very honest and straight talking friends and family that unless you know, you wouldn't know.

I completely agree with a previous poster, the subtle, well done lips look natural but the overfilled ones are what people think all lip fillers look like

napody · 19/10/2025 11:03

teacupzs · 19/10/2025 09:42

I agree with the pp about going to a doctor or dentist or someone who really understands the face.

I have never had them done as don't need it but tbh I don't see why thin lips are necessarily bad. Kate middleton has a tiny top lip but it suits her. Sometimes I think filler ever done well disrupts the harmony of the face and makes a nose look different etc but each to their own.

Totally agree. Each to their own but I think it just stems from people not valuing their own loveliness! Lauren Laverne and winona ryder and lots of others have thinner lips and such pretty faces. Chances are you already have what suits you best.

The point is you want to stir up shit and make people feel bad for your own twisted gratification.
