Fans banned from match

WTAF?!

https://news.sky.com/story/maccabi-tel-aviv-fans-will-not-be-allowed-to-attend-aston-villa-match-amid-safety-concerns-13451240

Maccabi Tel Aviv fans banned due to safety concerns AGAINST them?

Since when is it ok to victim blame and penalise people who have done nothing wrong? Surely the right course of action would be either to ban ALL fans of both sides or better police the event?

So are Jews not welcome at sports games now? Because some people are racist bullies?

I genuinely can’t believe this has been allowed. Where does it end? Can Jews no longer safely access society? What if the risk is high elsewhere, will they be banned then?

What do you think? AIBU to think this is discriminatory and a slippery slope?

Maccabi Tel Aviv fans will not be allowed to attend Aston Villa match amid safety concerns

Police say the decision is based partly on what happened in Amsterdam last year, when Israeli fans attending a match against Ajax were targets of antisemitic attacks.

Did you miss there’s been a cease fire in place for the last four days, and a peace deal reached? Nothing for you to fight for on behalf of the Palestinians now. Normal service can now be resumed. The Palestinians can continue to live under the delightful Hamas regime, where I’m sure they’ll be treated with dignity and respect. People should now be able to go about their lives in London on a weekend without having anti semitic abuse shouted at them, or flags and inappropriate banners waved everywhere. And for that we should all be truly thankful….

Nothing to fight for eh ...

Except

An independent Palestinian state with no interference from Israel. No blockade, no control of their borders (except obviously the Israeli side for where they border), no bombing!
Withdrawal of the settlers from the West Bank
Extradition of Netenyahu and others to face trial before the IC
Release of all from administrative detention.
All Palestinians in Israeli custody who have been 'convicted' of an offence to have the opportunity if desired for a retrial before an independent and fair court.
An independent enquiry into abuse within Israeli prisons.

That sounds like a few idea to start with. A fragile ceasefire of less than a week, with no long term plan for a 2 state solution isn't peace. It's tentative steps.

JHound · 17/10/2025 01:08

But where are you getting “Jews” from? What does a ban on a football teams fans have to do with Jewish people?

Because 80% of the population of Israel are Jewish. Which obviously means that a great many of the football fans coming from Israel are also Jewish. Which is the whole point of the ban….

Alittlefeedbackwouldbenice · 17/10/2025 00:55

I don't care how genocide supporters feel, irrespective of their background.

Equally I have no issue with anyone that doesn't support genocide. Someone's religion and ethnicity is irrelevant to me.

If you really want to equate being a supporter of genocide with Judaism then you're the one that needs to look at yourself. Those things aren't linked and shouldn't be linked.

I’m not a genocide supporter and neither is the Jewish lady.
But you are trying to say she is because she even exists.
So what exactly are you trying to say because you certainly aren’t supporting the Jewish lady who is feeling alienated and is not responsible for whatever you claim.

Alittlefeedbackwouldbenice · 17/10/2025 01:16

IsEveryUserNameBloodyTaken · 17/10/2025 01:04

Now you really are talking out of your backside.
Myth…..to deny reality.
Done to death on this site. You mean posting of anti Semitic propaganda.

So if one Hamas official said it or must be true.

But somehow you deny the repeated and explicit genocidal rhetoric coming from the very top of the Israeli government.

On that note however, I am going to bed. I meant to a long time ago.

They said "The club are in continuous dialogue with Maccabi Tel Aviv and the local authorities throughout this ongoing process, with the safety of supporters attending the match and the safety of local residents at the forefront of any decision."

This is the reason given. The safety of all supporters and local residents. Surely that statement can include keeping any British Arabs who live locally safe from racists who chant for their deaths?

Like I said, the police would usually target and deal with the specific individuals doing that stuff. There's likely to be what, a few hundred Macabi fans at best. The British police are well used to escorting fans to and from rival stadiums, using spotters and snatch squads to quickly remove offenders from crowds etc etc

The issue here is the shear number of anti semites that they expect would want to attack the Macabi fans and their unwillingness to deal with that. Because anti semitism is fine by them.

No, I'm saying she is because I've seen her posts over the last 2 years. Presumably you haven't.

It's nothing about her being Jewish. There are many lovely posters on here who are Jewish and are very anti Israel's actions. There are many on here who are not Jewish and are pro Israel's actions. You are the one equating Jewish with pro Israeli policy. That's incredibly anti Semitic of you.

So people are fighting so hard for racists because they don't believe it's because they are racists that they are banned? Sorry I still don't understand why people care so much that crowds of racists won't be on the streets, it seems like a win to me.

Maybe because it’s also racists that are trying to dictate and control the ban. Can’t you see the irony?

ChessorBuckaroo · 17/10/2025 01:21

Settler colonialism, such as america or the Zionist project Israel, where ethnic cleansing, displacement, theft of homes, dehumanisation, massacres and apartheid/segregation takes place, is a heinous concept.

Any individual with a modicum of morality accepts this.

The great Jewish humanitarian Norman Finkelstein on the atrocities committed by the Zionist state and the disgusting weaponisation of the Holocaust (a crime against humanity where 6 million Jews were slughtered by THE GERMANS, ie. it had nothing to do with Palestinians) to deflect any criticism on the monstrous entity that is Israel:

Maccabi fans are far-right extremists. No matter the situation in the middle east it's better to not have these fans in town.

Other Israeli teams would be more welcome. Anyone sticking up for them does not follow football.

The latest ridiculous lie that the anti israel people believe without question is that Israel is paying people 7000$ per post to say positive things about them. Just another varient of those dastardly jews controlling everything lol

Oh pmsl, tell you what you have just cracked me up.
I keep seeing on social media elsewhere people saying to others 7000 dollars or pounds being mentioned and thinking what the hell are they talking about.
Ive heard some conspiracy theories in my time.
Not that I’m saying all conspiracy theories are out and out lies.
Lol wonder who dreamed that one up.

Why is that any of our concern? Netanyahu was protecting and defending his country, he has nothing to answer for. Do you think all the leaders of Hamas need to be hauled before a court? For not only kidnapping and torturing Israelis, but also for not protecting their own people, instead using them as human shields. And do you know how many prisons there are in the world which are run badly, if indeed Israeli prisons are. You can’t cherry pick Israel, but be completely okay with the way other prisons around the world are run. It’s not something we should or could fix.

Don’t macabi fans have a reputation for being vile and violent? Probably for the best to keep everyone safe.

How else would you interpret ‘and go where’? Maybe you’re deliberately interpreting it to read in a different way. But i think we all know what the poster is saying. Apart from one or two others on here. The mask slipped for a second there…

Yup mask slipped but let’s all gaslight away.

Source of that info please?

No reply on this now multiple people shared the source? (Amsterdam 2024)

The fans have shown a precedent of using provocative chants etc so I can see why the police are using caution.

ChessorBuckaroo · 17/10/2025 01:48

In 1928, Adolf Hitler praised america for "gunning down the millions of Redskins to a few hundred thousand, and now keep the modest remnant under observation in a cage".

america was THE template for what the Nazis did.

Like the Natives in the white settler entity america, the Palestinians have been ethnically cleansed, ie. forcibly removed from their homes in the hundreds of thousands. The few Natives that remain are in the prison camp, the reservations.

Meanwhile....

In 2010, David Cameron called the blockaded Gaza strip a "prison camp", where everything that went in and out was monitored by the settler state.

33% of MNetters are ok with and voted that this foul antisemitism is not unreasonable. 33%. Absolutely terrifying.

OonaStubbs · 17/10/2025 01:55

Football supporters aren't the Israeli government and don't deserve to be banned from attending a match.

If a Palestinian team was playing Aston Villa (which is very unlikely, I know), would their fans be banned??

Anyahyacinth · 17/10/2025 01:55

Livelovebehappy · 17/10/2025 00:27

Ah, so you’re saying Jews aren’t welcome anywhere? I think you’re over estimating sympathy for the Palestinians. The Jews in this country are peaceful, and go about their lives in a very dignified way, despite the marches that go on every Saturday in London attempting to intimidate them. Unlike some other communities who have settled here. Let’s be honest here, if Muslims were taken out of the equation, the marches would probably consist of a few hundred people. So I think we can safely say that support for the Palestinians isn’t big amongst most of us.

I think you are really wrong there, there are huge Jewish blocks on the marches and the hundreds being arrested for holding placards are midde class white British folk ..vicars etc..even in the US eyes are wide open to the genocide - a majority of the population opposes it now...the refuser network within Israel is growing too. I think you may be living in an echo chamber...the slaughter is all too visible now. Undeniable and inexcusable

I think you know fuck all about football.

All English clubs were banned from European competitons for five years in the 1980s. Look it up.
