Fans banned from match

WTAF?!

https://news.sky.com/story/maccabi-tel-aviv-fans-will-not-be-allowed-to-attend-aston-villa-match-amid-safety-concerns-13451240

Maccabi Tel Aviv fans banned due to safety concerns AGAINST them?

Since when is it ok to victim blame and penalise people who have done nothing wrong? Surely the right course of action would be either to ban ALL fans of both sides or better police the event?

So are Jews not welcome at sports games now? Because some people are racist bullies?

I genuinely can’t believe this has been allowed. Where does it end? Can Jews no longer safely access society? What if the risk is high elsewhere, will they be banned then?

What do you think? AIBU to think this is discriminatory and a slippery slope?

Maccabi Tel Aviv fans will not be allowed to attend Aston Villa match amid safety concerns

Police say the decision is based partly on what happened in Amsterdam last year, when Israeli fans attending a match against Ajax were targets of antisemitic attacks.

@Lindos1 exactly. This wasn’t about MTA or specific events in football, that was a poorly veiled disguise many of us saw through.

This is about antisemitism. Why are we allowing people with those views into our political sphere?!

Unfortunately the left (those in positions of authority and MP’s and many others) have pushed for this,
People(voters) didn’t before now realise the extent of the damage done by the left and to ordinary people’s lives in this country when a bias is shown in favour of certain groups and against others that are innocent and not of those select groups.
When a country goes so far left that it affects more and more people in a negative manner, then the only way is a push back by leaning to the right.
That is why Reform is so popular and becoming more popular by the day (except on MN but that’s just a dwindling left echo chamber).
The multi cultural experiment has failed.Diversity is not our strength any more.

2024 Barcelona fans banned from Belgrade due to racism at a PSG game.

2025 Napoli fans banned from Frankfurt

2025 Ajax fans banned from Marseille

Games you have attended may not have resulted in future bans, but doesn’t mean it hasn’t happened else where.

Barcelona fans were banned by UEFA and Ajax fans were banned by the French government so not really comparable examples.

Doesn’t matter ‘who’ banned them.

The original comment tried to make out that the Maccabi fans are the only ones this has ever happened to.

Happens regularly in Europe when fans/hooligans can’t/don’t behave.

Bringemout · 17/10/2025 14:26

The violence was preplanned in amsterdam. They literally planned a Jews hunt, it came out in court, taxi drivers were driving muslim thugs to Israeli football fans. I believe there were something like 600 people in these groups.

https://europeanconservative.com/articles/news/media-silent-as-court-hears-shocking-details-of-amsterdam-jew-hunt/

I’m sorry but we need to stop bending our necks to violent regressive thugs in our society. We need to stop buttressing their hatred. We have literally just started handing out free passes to people because they are Muslim to be frank. I never thought I would say that but it’s getting stupid now.

Media Silent as Court Hears Shocking Details of Amsterdam “Jew Hunt”

New evidence reveals the attack was meticulously planned in chat groups, with suspects inciting violence and sharing brutal anti-Jewish rhetoric.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/sep/09/the-gaza-family-torn-apart-by-idf-snipers-from-chicago-and-munich

"Five-month investigation reveals how four members of one family were shot and killed in a single day and highlights a pattern in which Israeli troops target unarmed civilians.

Daniel Raab shows no hesitation as he watches footage of 19-year-old Salem Doghmosh crumpling to the ground beside his brother in a street in northern Gaza.

“That was my first elimination,” he says. The video, shot by a drone, lasts just a few seconds. The Palestinian teenager appears to be unarmed when he is shot in the head.

Raab, a former varsity basketball player from a Chicago suburb who became an Israeli sniper, concedes he knew that. He says he shot Salem simply because he tried to retrieve the body of his beloved older brother Mohammed.

“It’s hard for me to understand why he [did that] and it also doesn’t really interest me,” Raab says in a video interview posted on X. “I mean, what was so important about that corpse?”

As an aside, I wonder if the Doghmosh family* in your report have close links with the Doghmosh clan^ currently clashing with Hamas?

(NB Various spellings of the clan's name: Doghmosh, Doghmush, Dughmush)

Of course it matters who banned them - the Barcelona fans were banned by UEFA and the club was fined - completely different to a local decision.

Football fans being banned or curtailed because of their behaviour isn't comparable with these Macabee fans being curtailed because of their previous provocative and violent behaviour? Okey...

Firealarm1414 · 17/10/2025 14:50

Why are people trying to rewrite history about the incident in Amsterdam? It was a preplanned event to hunt "cancer jews", there was a WhatsApp group with hundreds of members, people came from all over the country to participate, and when some of these jews were spotted the location was shared with the group. Arrests were made over this. It wasn't a riot by maccabi fans as some are trying to paint it

MindfulSis · 17/10/2025 14:56

Usually in football, fans get banned if there is a history of violence. It happens quite regularly in European football, Napoli fans were banned from an away game only recently.
This wasn't originally about politics, it was about violent behaviour from fans.

No one cares when Warsaw fans were banned from Aston Villa last year when there was violence in their last match with Aston Villa.

The BBC reported last year that none of the main party leaders campaigned for the general election in Birmingham - for fear of pro-Palestinian protests and threats. I blame Keir Starmer's provocative and violent behaviour.

Nolletimiere · 17/10/2025 14:59

The Home Office was told last week that Israeli fans could be banned from Villa Park, police have said.

On Thursday, supporters of Maccabi Tel Aviv were informed that they would be barred from attending their team’s Europa League match at Aston Villa on Nov 6.

Sir Keir Starmer led criticism of the ban, saying: “We will not tolerate anti-Semitism on our streets.”

But it has now emerged that the Home Office knew about the plans a week ago.
In a highly unusual move, the UK Football Policing Unit (UKFPU) spoke out, saying it had briefed the Government about “potential issues”, including that “restrictions on visiting fans” was an option.

The ban followed a recommendation from West Midlands Police, which is said to have concerns about its ability to deal with potential protests outside the Villa Park stadium.

On Friday, the Prime Minister was facing serious questions amid growing outrage over the decision by Birmingham city council’s safety advisory group, which issues safety certificates for football matches.

Coolasfeck · 17/10/2025 15:01

So the government will ignore a professional police assessment and the media will stoke another culture war. This is at the expense of the people of Birmingham in favour of the rights of foreign football hooligans.

If the decision is overturned and one innocent Birmingham resident is harmed or property damaged, Starmer’s must resign.

It really doesn’t. What matters is the ‘why’.

Their behaviour at previous games has been appalling and them being in Birmingham will just create huge tensions. The, already, stretched police force will then have to keep locals and those fans from potentially clashing with each other.

Leadonmacduffs · 17/10/2025 15:50

In NI - part of the UK - contentious events are deemed okay to go ahead or not on the likelihood of unrest, disorder, public safety.
Plenty of Orangemen moan about not being able to march in certain Catholic areas for example - they claim religious bias, the Parades Commission say not.
This really isn’t that different TBH.
Lot dog people coming out of the woodwork to claim bigotry because football hooligans can’t attend a football match.

Leadonmacduffs · 17/10/2025 15:51

Yup. I can just about stomach the cost of police to police the all those far right marchers in London a few weeks ago - despite being opposed to them and their ‘values’- because we do have the right to free speech and peaceful protest.
But to police a bunch of football hooligans from overseas, so they don’t cause trouble, violence and provoke other hooligans?? Not so much.

Will Ajax fans be allowed at the Chelsea game next week?

And what about the Imam who said they will show ‘no mercy to the Israeli fans’ coming to Birmingham?

Thats ok is it? Nothing to see here.

Mimph · 17/10/2025 17:31

I am glad that this issue is being revisited, I understand the police concerns for safety.

When those in support of Palestine march, those who want to have a counter march are advised not to, however it is never seems to be the same the other way round. I fully understand the police concern. My view is that there is huge antisemitism whilst people are friightend of upsetting the muslim faith. Both sides need to be treated the same which is not the case and that in my view is why the issue is so important and threatens our democracy

Bringemout · 17/10/2025 15:18

I knew life under Starmer would be grim, but the UK banning Jews from watching sport, because the police would be unable to keep them safe from potentially violent protesters wasn't on my bingo card.

Maybe the government could work with local community leaders in Birmingham and organise some kind concentrated zone where Jews can be kept safe away from the locals. Maybe use some barbed wire, guard towers, perhaps provide some onsite accommodation, give the Jewish fans a little symbol to wear so the police know who to "keep safe".

Teachers forced into hiding, autistic kids bullied, women banned from participating in a fun run, Jews banned from watching football. I wonder who is next to be sacrificed to appease hard-line islamist fuckwits.

SunnySideDeepDown · 17/10/2025 17:48

NoOneToTextWhenThePlaneLands · 17/10/2025 08:35

Because it is? Why are you pretending the MTA fans are peaceful, and that there’s no precedent for banning violent fans?

If it’s about thuggish football hooliganism, why are you referring to the same thing happening to Russia?

What is it?! A response to hooliganism or a punishment for the war? Stick with one at least.
