It's a real thing according to medicine. Is there any particular reason why you think medicine is wrong about it? After all, drugs have been developed to treat ADHD, so doesn't it seem unlikely that a drug would have been created for something which isn't real? Also, doesn't it seem unlikely that all doctors and researchers haven't sussed out that it's not real, if that's the case? I'm not criticising, I'm just curious how you've arrived at your conclusion given that doctors don't question its existence.

There’s a woman in my community who has “written a book” about the wild adventures (organised trips) she is going on during her retirement. Of course everyone gushes about it, but really I find it pathetic. Cannot admit this to anyone in real life as she’s the local treasure.

Wishimaywishimight · 16/10/2025 13:33

I very much doubt anyone will agree with me here (especially since I am posting on MUMSnet!) however I find the notion of giving birth to be absolutely horrific. For context I am (happily) childfree and not for this reason - if I had wanted children I would have put myself through the ordeal however the whole concept / biology of it - a human being emerging from between a woman's legs. The pain, the gore (which I only know about 2nd hand of course!), the indignity of having strangers peer up your fanny while you lie spread-eagled awaiting the emergence of a head. Delicate bits tearing or being cut. Aaaaargh, just all sounds grim. If I had ever wanted a child I would have gone private and paid for a c-section! Yes, I know that's major surgery but anyone I know who went that route was very much in favour of it for future pregnancies.

I'm not looking for anyone to tell me I'm a freak or need psychological help and no, I have no hang-ups about sex / intimacy or the human body in general!

SmallDogsAreScary · 16/10/2025 13:35

Same here @Wishimaywishimight . I physically couldn't have done it.

@SmallDogsAreScaryAh so there are 2 of us 😁

I don’t want to bring my “whole self” to work, and I wish nobody else would. Bring your work self, that’s what you are getting paid for!

Chocolateismylovelife · 16/10/2025 14:13

I was a prolific bulimic from age 15-38. It continued through my pregnancies though it was less severe at these times as I believe it caused 2 earlier miscarriages.

Then one day I just stopped, I no longer felt the compulsion.

Apart from a midwife who referred me to specialist services, no ones knows not even my husband.

ForeverDelayedEpiphany · 16/10/2025 14:14

Very occasionally, I wish that the doctor who prescribed the off label antipsychotic that injured me permanently with a movement disorder could experience the movement disorder... even if it was just for 24 hours.

I don't ever wish ill upon anyone truly, but I'd like her to see just how horrifying and traumatic some of the involuntary movements are, and it may make her reconsider her unwise prescribing of powerful brain altering medication, which IMHO should only really reasonably be prescribed by a psychiatrist not a GP.

Because I believe it’s a symptom of our current lifestyles. More fresh air, exercise and better diets would cure about 75% of people I bet.

NoNamesGeirgie · 16/10/2025 14:21

A few things
I dislike my DS (now adult and happily married) he twice bought used knickers of eBay. The 2 bf I found them I wipes them on the rim of the loo and spayed flea killer in them. I love him but this has tarnished how I see him. He was 18 or so at the time now he’s 30

I used to self harm after watching porn, I was so disgusted by myself

People think I’m happy, I’m ok but I think about suicide a lot and take high dosage of AD meds

if I had my life iver again I would not have DCs.

My 19 year old autistic sons huge belly pisses me off

Katemax82 · 16/10/2025 14:34

Also my daughter's voice sometimes gives me the rage

secretrocker · 16/10/2025 14:37

I wish all the people I know who have been diagnosed with autism/ADHD later in life (over 40s) and revel in how "neurospicy" they are, could see how much my autistic child struggles with even basic tasks and self care, and will likely never have a job or partner and probably die early due to self neglect.
But they can all have a good chuckle about their condition one-upmanship, while all leading normal lifes with jobs and partners.

I’m so sorry you are suffering like this. I had horrible side effects from antipsychotics but thankfully they stopped when I came off them.
Have you considered making a complaint against that GP if she wasn’t qualified to prescribe antipsychotics? Some doctors do seem to have a casual disregard for their patients.

I have psoriasis in my arse crack. Went to a dermatologist who diagnosed it as such and prescribed a cream with limited success, then she prescribed injections which haven't worked either. Never told anyone else, not my mum my sister or even my husband. I use the loo at work multiple times a day to scratch it. It flares up and down, but it's always there. I've been nearly suicidal over it as I cannot function with a permanently itchy arse crack. Going for a poo is an ordeal. Sometimes the itch has become consuming while driving and I'm legitimacy worried I will cause an accident.

Oh i feel your pain, i have that, it always happens when your driving doesn't it ? Its mortifying
After years of trying differnt stuff, i have a new Continental and she prescribed this for me,
Lotriderm 0.05% w/w /1.0% w/w Cream
Only using it two weeks but a huge difference all ready - It might help

I’m stuck in the wrong career and don’t know how to reinvent myself, it’s given me such bad anxiety that I nearly had a breakdown yesterday

That some people are really thick.

That people who think Neurodivergence is made-up are thick and lucky to be able to hold their luxury belief.

uniqueme · 16/10/2025 15:14

I do wish people would not go overboard at Christmas. Food, presents etc. People should not be made skint due to buying presents that people don't want or need.

Then comes the food shopping on 23/24 Dec. Worked at a supermarket for a few years and customers were buying 12 loaves of bread and 24 pints of milk. Then overheard one of the couple with the above in the trolley, saying "ooh we could do with another bottle of milk, just in case". In case of what?

I do wonder how much of this extra bread and milk actually gets used. My family consume less bread and milk over Christmas as don't have cereals and sandwiches/beans on toast for lunch.

Then customers moaned that the bread was only dated 28/29 Dec and said why aren't there longer dates. I said to them, if you went shopping on any other month on 23rd, the bread will have 28/29 on it. Food factories always have the same number of days between production and best before/use by throughout the year.

I would love for fireworks to be banned. Great for the environment in many ways, great for all the people and animals they terrify, less people ending up in A and E, a weapon taken out of the hands of thugs, less Fire services call outs. I do say this in real life

Fireworks are banned in Ireland - illegal - still doesn't stop people getting them and letting them off, there will be videos of estates on Halloween night and look like Russia has dropped bombs on Ukraine it will be so bad. All ready have bangers going off driving mydogs mad. Guards etc dont do anything

uniqueme · 16/10/2025 15:19

When working in retail, I wish I could say to customers "plan your life better" when they come in on Oct 31st to see if we had pumpkins left. No we sold out a couple of days ago. Same with advent calendars on Dec 3rd. One year, I had a customer asking me about advent calendars on Dec 16th. I remember the date as it was my friend's birthday.

uniqueme · 16/10/2025 15:24

Customers
What do you want to achieve from being rude, nasty, aggressive and abusive to retail workers and front line workers?

Answer
There is nothing positive to achieve from acting like this.

Everyone who has never worked in retail or customer services should work for a month at the busiest time of the year based on the industry. Retail, Christmas. If this doesn't change their attitudes towards staff, then nothing will.

I think a lot of people rely on “neurodivergence” to disengage from parts of life they don’t like
