I'm not sure where you got the idea that the US is a low-wage economy. It is simply not true. US salaries are much, much higher than UK ones. Nurses earn $90-140k. My high-school teacher friend earns $110k a year teaching PE at high school. The national average wage in the US is $63,795. The national average wage in the UK is 37,430 pounds, which is $50,257. Our taxes are lower and property costs much less.
The things you mention apply to the poor unfortunates who don't have any education and are in low-wage jobs. Those at the bottom of the scale have no job security, medical benefits, and not much holiday time. But that does not describe the vast majority of workers. I know hairdressers who make well into six figures, and estate agents can take home a fortune.
There is a national federal minimum wage of $7.25, but each state can set its own, which is often better. The MW in my state is $15.00, about the same as Britain's. New York's $15.50 in the sticks and $16.50 in NYC. California's is $16.50. Washington's is $16.66.
It's misleading when the foreign media says there is no this or that in the states. What they mean is, it's not federally mandated. They don't report that each state provides these things. In my state, I got 80 percent of my full wage when I went off work to care for my parents, and you can get that for three months on a calendar year. Same if you have a baby - but a good company will give you better maternity benefits than that.
We may not have great FEDERAL benefits, but state benefits and employer benefits often combine to give you much better than you'd get in the UK.
America has some of the top universities in the world, and the education is longer. There's an emphasis on a well-rounded education, so they don't specialise as early as we do in the British system.
Lastly, 31% of children in Britain live in poverty, significantly more than the child poverty rate in America, which is 12.4% as of 2022, up for 5.2%.
I live in a blue state and I hate Trump. What's happened to women's rights in the southern states is appalling, although it's worth noting that even Ruth Bader Ginsburg thought that control of abortion should be handed back to the states.
Of course America isn't perfect. Far from it. But really, don't believe everything you read. Millions of people have a good life with much opportunity in the States, and they don't get shot, either!
