What are Hamas playing at?

It’s deeply worrying that Hamas haven’t returned all the dead hostages as agreed. I’ve seen comments saying it’s an impossible task given how Gaza has been reduced to rubble. But if that’s the case, they would have known they had lost the bodies. So why did they agree to return them if they knew they weren’t able to do so?

You'd think with conditions in Israeli prisons apparently being that bad, Hamas would be so desperate to get their people out that they wouldn't need to be threatened with aid stopping in order to make them hand over remains they clearly already had.

Israel rounds up large numbers of people and holds them without trial, for times like this. They call it administrative detention. There is no trial, much less a conviction. People have been held for over a decade. Even children are held.

Their conditions are terrible, they get no proper medical attention, are routinely subject to sleep deprivation, beatings and sundry humiliations.

The Guardian interviewed one man who went in at 93 Kg and is now 60 Kg. This is deliberate starvation, without excuse.

All Palestinian women in Israeli captivity are raped. They are unable to tell their families, for fear of "honour" killing. Such women who have manged to come to the West have spoken about it, in interviews.

The whole, Hamas bad, Israel good shtick is baloney. Each are as evil as the other.

I think you're meant to be more subtle when you're knowingly spreading false Hamas propaganda.

Maybe because of the intense pressure that was on them from all sides.

so not being honest was the way forward?

Bumblebee72 · 15/10/2025 12:04

ForeverPombear · 15/10/2025 12:02

But there have been interviews? Why are we believing Israelis and not Palestinans.

I don't know why people just will not admit that both sides are wrong. Look at the claims about what Russian soldiers have done - women/children have been abused in most if not all wars.

I think the poster was suggesting that they can't all have been raped. Implying that as only as only some of them have been raped that is ok.

Growlybear83 · 15/10/2025 12:06

AngelinaFibres · 15/10/2025 11:58

Because it means they got all their prisoners out.

That haven’t got all their prisoners out. Many still remain in israeli prisons.

HorrorAndHaagenDazs · 15/10/2025 12:11

AmIthatSpringy · 15/10/2025 12:01

Palestinian hostages?

you mean the prisoners? All innocent of course

Indeed, all those poor murderers terrorists and bombers. 😓

EmilySouth · 15/10/2025 12:12

It’s heartbreaking. Maybe they agreed under pressure, but things are such chaos there they can’t find everyone. Still, the families deserve honesty.

Statesider · 15/10/2025 12:12

I think it’s quite the trip when Israeli is mad that Hamas hasn’t given them all their dead hostages if they’re trapped under the rubble that ISRAEL created. What a joke. It doesn’t matter how hard Trump tries, this will never end because it simply boils down to a bunch of bad guys fighting another bunch of bad guys.

Jujujudo · 15/10/2025 12:15

elprup · 15/10/2025 08:21

Then why bother agreeing to the deal in the first place I wonder? Just to buy a few days of time?

By returning the living hostages they achieved two things: they received hundreds of imprisoned convicted terrorists from prison, and they showed that they were willing to comply in order to continue garnering sympathy from their western supporters. They are a murderous, terrorist group of sub-humans who don’t give a crap about anything other than destroying Israel and taking the land. If they ever achieve that, they’ll turn it into yet another Islamic ethno-fascist country full of fighting clans, suppressed women, child soldiers and poverty. But they won’t be able to blame the Jews anymore because they won’t be there.

They clearly aren't all trapped under the rubble though, since Hamas were suddenly able to produce 3 more on the same day they were threatened with aid being withheld if they didn't. They've also said 4 more will be given back later today.

An accurate, but tragic summary of the situation.

There haven’t been interviews with every woman in Israeli captivity saying yes we were all raped every single woman.

Rickrolypoly · 15/10/2025 08:48

They always said that they may not be able to locate all the bodies and that was acknowledged in the ceasefire deal. There was no alternative to not going along with trump's tremendous peace plan considering the alternative was that he would reign down hell on Gaza if they didn't.
Bibi is only delighted anyway as it's gives him as reason to continue starving innocent children and shooting dead civilians. I hope there's a special place in hell for him and all his supporters and enablers.

Agree

Netanyahu has already reduced aid going in

Vaxtable · 15/10/2025 12:29

They are terrorists, nothing more to be said

Jujujudo · 15/10/2025 12:33

willowtree99 · 15/10/2025 09:29

Im more concerned about the 9000 hostages who are still alive, including over 300 children that are still being held, especially with the signs of torture that many of the released hostages showed when they were released.

I hope the remains of deceased hostages who were bombed in Gaza can be found amongst the rubble and returned, but the priority should be the living.

I wonder why they weren’t released in exchange for the Israeli hostages.. I wonder why they stayed while convicted murdering terrorists were released. Maybe it’s because they don’t exist except in propaganda. Seriously, stop defending terrorists.

Moonmelodies · 15/10/2025 12:33

If Hamas don't disarm, the American president says they will disarm them. That's going to spice things up.

Jujujudo · 15/10/2025 12:35

Hoppinggreen · 15/10/2025 09:33

I very much doubt Hamas carfeully stored the bodies of the hostages and even if they kept them there has been so much bombing that it may be hard to access/find them.

Why do you doubt that? Of course they stored them!!! They use them as bargaining chips! They know exactly where they are, just like they knew where the living ones were!! Why are you defending terrorists?

Ontheedgeofit · 15/10/2025 12:39

I dont think the poster is defending terrorists. I think she is stating the impracticalities of storing or preserving dead bodies in any sort of orderly fashion for identification later in a war of this kind. We keep getting told about sophisticated tunnels but the thought of bodies being stored in the heat underground sounds absolutely grim.

DrPrunesqualer · 15/10/2025 12:39

Growlybear83 · 15/10/2025 12:06

That haven’t got all their prisoners out. Many still remain in israeli prisons.

And none of the dead Palestinians that Israel hold have been returned
Israel agreed to release 20 dead Palestinians for every one Israeli in the agreement
We’ve heard nothing of that
Have they confirmed numbers even. ? Or names ? Anything ?
Do they hold exactly that multiple because that would be a coincidence.

Whilst I agree Hamas should never have agreed to release all
the Israrli hostages bodies by a fixed date. I also acknowledge that Netanyahu was aware Hamas didn’t know where they all were and as such they were being forced to agree to something they will maybe never be able to achieve

If Israel allow bulldozers and equipment into Gaza perhaps the bodies can be found.
They have denied that. Why is it their decision anyway.

Time for Trump et all to demand it.

Jujujudo · 15/10/2025 12:40

soupyspoon · 15/10/2025 10:18

To be honest why would they keep them anywhere?

What would they hold onto the hostages dead bodies for?

Were they expecting to hand them back at some point?

Because Israelis value life so much that they will release hundreds of convicted terrorists in Israeli jail for one dead Israeli body. That’s the difference between the two people. They kept the mutilated bodies of two little Israeli babies for over a year. Remember that one? They had this huge celebration when they handed their coffins over.

Agree and if they were kept in hospital morgues ( I have no idea btw) many hospitals have been bombed by Israel and some levelled to the ground.
They don’t have equipment to lift heavy masonry so how can bodies be retrieved

No need to shout. I agree with you. Its all grim. But I think some people here are talking about the practicalities of taking hostage / keeping / storing / identifying dead bodies in a war zone and you are getting yourself in a knot thinking we are defending or taking sides.
