To now be increasingly concerned about illegal boat arrivals

1000 replies

CalmShaker · 14/10/2025 21:33

I've kept a level head with boat crossing arrivals but recently I've become concerned that there are some really unpleasant people being let in. This story was hard to watch on the news this evening;

Asylum seeker 'murdered hotel worker Rhiannon Whyte in frenzied attack' - BBC News https://share.google/qxzed2MD19TYPKasQ

I welcome genuine asylum but I don't believe that is what is happening anymore.
The story immediately before the above on national news this evening was the migrant who had threatened Nigel Farrage. I know Nigel is not the most popular of people but the migrant was horrid, clearly dangerous and not safe to be on our streets.
Financial cost and all other factors aside, it's the safety aspect that worry me most.

There is no bias against one race or ethnicity. Not a single post on here is concerned about race or ethnicity.
You just pretend that’s the issue because you can’t defend the actual issue.

I am not pretending - I am just saying be careful. I have always maintained that there is an immigration / asylum problem and it needs overhaul 👍

Thank you!!!!!!!

I sometimes feel like I’m living in a parallel universe!

It’s mn. Still strong theme of dismiss and deflect over this.

Be careful of what? No one has once mentioned race or ethnicity.

VAWG is a male problem and it spans across a wide range of ages, races and nationalities

Offending rates vary hugely depending on nationality.

Yep.

And good to see that Keir Starmer and Labour have managed to ‘smash the gangs’ 🙄.

Not saying the Tories covered themselves in glory during the fourteen years they were in power, but apparently it’s not quite as easy as Keir thought.

I think it’s putting many things at risk, like our economy as well to be honest. I agree that it needs urgent overhaul, but to jump on this “keep our women and girls safe” rhetoric feels to me like it has an undercurrent of racism or xenophobia.

We have a violence against women and girls (vawg) epidemic, but to suggest that it’s only carried out by asylum seekers is inaccurate and irresponsible. It’s conflating two separate problems.

Nobody said ALL asylum seekers though.

If only 10% of the 187,000 men on small boats (total since the count started in 2019) were wrong ‘uns - that is potentially 18,700 additional women and girls hurt. That’s 18,700 too many.

Bringing in men from countries where they don’t understand that rape here is illegal and where woman are treated worse than animals is not likely to end well for women here.

This! A thousand times this!!!

Having groups of young men with nothing to do is always problematic regardless of cultural back ground, class, religion, cultural beliefs

I can’t understand why this is not recognised that these set ups need very careful management

Of course many want to be doing something and earn some money and who will happily employ the services of such men. It’s not hard to work out why so many hostels/hotels are having problems, rife with drugs and becoming areas that local people know to avoid

its not enough to give people a room in a crowded hotel they need structure in their life and support but that can’t be done with the large numbers coming into the country

Reallynotsure25 · 14/10/2025 21:43

With all the stuff we’ve got going on at the moment asylum seekers are the least of our problems. Unfortunately you and many like you are being fed a diet of horror stories about them by individuals, groups and people with a vested interest. Look at your algorithm, question everything you are being fed and switch off every now and then.

And clearly you don’t think you should do the same?

This is how you sum up what happened to Rhiannon?

PolarExpression · 24/10/2025 21:42

Yanbu. The government cares more about looking after young men arriving on small boats than they do about their own female citizens. As a woman and mother I am outraged by this. Does Starmer know what a woman is though 🤔

SpaceRaccoon · 24/10/2025 22:43

I honestly think the British and European establishment actually hate women and girls:

"The Swedish judge who ruled that the Eritrean migrant who raped 16-y-old Meya Åberg won’t be deported after serving a 3-year sentence because ”the rape didn’t last long enough” has spoken out about the criticism & say judges can’t take into consideration people’s anger. The decision not to deport Yazied Mohamed has sparked global outrage. The Court of Appeal Judge Lars Viktorsson now tells samhallsnytt about why the 19-year-old Eritrean shouldn’t be deported. “It was a short-lived incident,” he tells Samnytt. "

The whole system needs to be changed (or scrapped depending on appetite). Women and girls don’t deserve this.

lambdressedasspam · 25/10/2025 02:25

It's the emperors got no clothes. But a slightly more dangerous feeling version.

SpaceRaccoon · 25/10/2025 10:25

As it happens, there's a news report today that has collated stats in Sweden:
"An Algerian migrant is 122x more likely to commit aggravated rape than a Swede and an Afghan is 69x more likely."

https://x.com/visegrad24/status/1981839469100577086

This is why the concern about having large groups of men from countries like this put into communities is a concern. It's not racism.

Visegrád 24 (@visegrad24) on X

Migrant men of non-European origin commit 84% of assault rapes in Sweden despite only making up less than 10% of the country’s population. An Algerian migrant is 122x more likely to commit aggravated rape than a Swede and an Afghan is 69x more likely....

Are we going to get rid of all of the white British criminals too?

They get sent to prison in their own home country.
Why should immigrants not get the same?

Poetnojo · 25/10/2025 12:13

PeonyPatch · 24/10/2025 19:56

You can care about women and girls without being a racist and a bigot though. There are many, many misogynistic and sexist violent acts against women and girls that are carried out by white men every day. In fact, most of them are partners or family members. I think we need to be careful we don’t form a bias against a particular race or ethnicity.

We need to be careful we don't form a bias towards a group of people who are much much more likely to harm women and children than those who don't? Are you actually for real? The data speaks for itself, are we not to trust the facts and figures now or what?

I spent a year or so living in France some years back, in a place with a high Algerian population. It took me years to get over it, and the trauma I experienced probably explained a very poor choice of marriage partner a couple of years laer (I was, in retrospect, depressed and anxious, so found myself drawn to someone with those traits; but it's not my natural disposition).

I'm so sorry. That's a devastating impact.

I'm really ashamed to say that years ago I gaslit a friend about her experience of living in the south of France as a teenager - I thought she was stereotyping and bordering on racist.
I did apologise to her after the Cologne incident, sometimes one shocking event opens your eyes. Some people are opting to still keep them firmly shut.

My poor friend deliberately chose as her partner the most gentle, passive, "safe" man she could find. She said that more overtly masculine men frightened her.

This really feels like gaslighting.
