To now be increasingly concerned about illegal boat arrivals

1000 replies

CalmShaker · 14/10/2025 21:33

I've kept a level head with boat crossing arrivals but recently I've become concerned that there are some really unpleasant people being let in. This story was hard to watch on the news this evening;

Asylum seeker 'murdered hotel worker Rhiannon Whyte in frenzied attack' - BBC News https://share.google/qxzed2MD19TYPKasQ

I welcome genuine asylum but I don't believe that is what is happening anymore.
The story immediately before the above on national news this evening was the migrant who had threatened Nigel Farrage. I know Nigel is not the most popular of people but the migrant was horrid, clearly dangerous and not safe to be on our streets.
Financial cost and all other factors aside, it's the safety aspect that worry me most.

Do you think it's just a coincidence that the numbers of asylum seekers arriving by small boats has shot up is just a coincidence then?

I think it may well have been a deterrent.

Asylum seekers have been this high pre Brexit, look up 2002.

And if it were a deterrent why isn’t it for ROI and Germany?

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 15/10/2025 21:04

Has Reform actually stated how they plan to legally follow through with their pledges to ‘sort’ this issue? I know we are hearing all sorts of propaganda from using the navy to rounding up people in the style of Trump using ICE but we have some very robust laws and human rights lawyers who will surely force some very long and costly court battles all the way up to the ECHP. If it was easy to remedy, a solution would have already been found.

In other news I was reading this article just now and thinking if anything summed up my earlier thoughts that girls and women’s safety are of no interest to governments or law enforcement, I think this story surely proves it https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15195467/Sex-offender-charged-murdering-sex-worker-strangling-bail-attacking-eight-women-underground.html

shuggles · 15/10/2025 21:10

@Lavender14 So we're ONLY concerned for the safety of UK based women - screw the rest?

Well yes... the responsibility of the UK government is to protect the citizens of the UK only...

Regarding women in other countries, it is really the responsibility of those countries to stop their men from harming women. Legally, it's very difficult for the UK to do anything because the UK has no authority over those countries.

A partial solution would be to speed up the decision-making process for asylum claims. That would at least mean that those whose claims were found to be false could be removed more quickly.

Another would be to make it possible for people to apply for asylum status from outside the UK, then they wouldn't need be physically present in the UK at all.

A third would be to rejoin the EU and have the UK's Dublin agreement rights restored, but that's not likely to happen any time soon. Anyone who voted for Brexit has contributed to the issue and has no right to moan imo.

Why the hell would we want to speed up claims? So more and more claims can be granted, and faster? When the public does not want further mass immigration?

JG24 · 15/10/2025 21:41

Have you seen some of the scumbags that were born in the UK? Hopefully an influx of migrants will improve our population and dilute the awful violent homegrown men

Like the ones from the famously woman loving countries of Afghanistan and Somalia?

Like it did for the poor woman in the op’s article. I’m sure that will be a comfort to her family and friends.

They definitely will, coming, as they do, from bastions of liberal freedom and equality.

Dilute the awful violent homegrown men by pouring in lots more unvetted men from war torn countries? I think you need to go back and redo science.

Because the reason all these people are stuck in hotels, living off the state, unable to work, commiting crimes is that the processing system we have isn't fit for purpose.

If it was, the hotels wouldn't be needed, the people with reason to be here could be working and the people without could be sent home in days or weeks rather than months or years.

Also the poster is talking about asylum claims, not immigration.

Speeding up the process is a good idea, unless they're going to do it by rubber stamping claims for approval. I fear that's what Labour plan to do, in which case that will be yet another pull factor.

Too many ' borders' we are all human beings on planet earth ...we should be able to live where the f▪︎ck we want. Too much flag waving , not enough empathy in this world .

As long as there isnt a HMO full of undocumented men next door to you, eh?

Bigpinksweater · 16/10/2025 19:11

How many rapes and murders are we up to now? Does anybody know? It’s weekly, if not more - these are just the headlines I happen to see and I don’t proactively search.

What’s madness is the bullshit you’ve chomped. We have a huge massive problem with a DECLINING population and yet the oldest live longest and cost the most! We NEED more young people!

Thats a direct result of the government and 15 years of austerity- many British young people have been priced out of having families.

It's not a unknowable phenomenon.
Many younger people would welcome incentives to help to start families

scorpiogirly · 16/10/2025 20:39

These are not asylum seekers. They're not fleeing war. They're economic migrants. Many are criminals. We haven't got a clue where they are from, who they are or what they're capable of.

I don't know what it will take for people to wake up to this

The stats are they stats, but this is an unprecedented lever of illegal migration and the evidence that this will not end well is there every day.

Bigpinksweater · 16/10/2025 20:40

Do any of the small boat/asylum supporters here care to comment? This is a weekly event now - does this not make you feel uncomfortable in any way?

Spiderx · 16/10/2025 20:57

There probably wouldn't be if we could all live where we wanted...and if there were ...so what ?!

Spiderx · 16/10/2025 20:59

...amd are you also documenting the same crimes from the indigenous UK population during the same period to ensure your figures don't become biased ?

Happyher · 16/10/2025 21:05

Stop watching the sensationalist news - especially GB news. If you only know of this problem because you’ve seen it on or in the news then it’s not really a problem for you as it’s not affecting you

Whatifitallgoesright · 16/10/2025 21:06

Thats such a weird attitude. Very short-sighted. Surely it's obvious we need to listen to people with different experiences or are you happy to stay in your safe enclave? In which why bother to read this thread?

What’s ‘sensationalist’ about a woman being gang raped in public? Is it just a bit inconvenient for you? Out of sight, out of mind?

Starmer is releasing these stats so we will soon find out. I think a lot of you will be forced to face up to some truths you simply do not want to hear.
