I don't condone violence usually but just occasionally I think 'good'.

Ticktockwatchclock · 11/10/2025 19:22

Americano75 · 11/10/2025 17:25

Why is it sad? He attempted to rape a baby, that’s what’s sad. He was a marked man in prison.

ThatDreamyLemonBiscuit · 11/10/2025 19:22

Kimura · 11/10/2025 19:08

Steps weren't that bad.

I can't believe there are still people who are willing to minimize.

Americano75 · 11/10/2025 19:22

CalmShaker · 11/10/2025 19:19

God riddance but I think you could've phrased the opening post/vote so much better. It' has obviously led to some confusion

For the love of God, even if you genuinely felt I was gutted at the death of one of the worst paedophiles in living memory you could read the whole thread and see me state, repeatedly, that I was - yes! - being sarcastic.

Good lord.

I think I was incorrect on recalling she was pregnant. She already had the baby.

That's harrowing. 😱

xSideshowAuntSallyXx · 11/10/2025 19:23

Good. I felt sorry for his band mates as they will never get royalties because of what that depraved man did. No radio station will play their music.

We don’t have a death penalty in this country and, being imprisoned in the same unit as Watkins, I’ve no doubt that his murderer is no better or worse a criminal than he was.

CountryQueen · 11/10/2025 19:25

MrsLizzieDarcy · 11/10/2025 19:14

Well as a taxpayer who had to contribute to keeping this man alive, I thank the person who did this on our behalves.

I'll save my sympathy for the officers who had the horror of dealing with this and for his victims.

The fucking irony of thanking some lowlife who costs the taxpayers money by being in jail for saving the taxpayer money. Thanking him for costing the taxpayer yet another fucking shitload of money with investigations and coroners courts and inquests.

The fucking irony of thanking some violent offender, possibly another rapist, of committing yet another horrific, bloody offence, traumatic for all those who witnessed and had to deal with it and then saying “my thoughts are with the officers”.

Have a word 🙄

LaChouette · 11/10/2025 19:26

CountryQueen · 11/10/2025 18:48

God these comments.

These Officers (not guards ffs, how insulting) have to deal with that happening and everything that goes with it. Only to finally come home and read that people think they’re so fucking unprofessional that they allow vigilante murders on their watch. Or that paramedics stop off for a sausage roll, yeah, unprofessional lazy fat bastards. Apparently “you win the internet today” with that wise crack 🙄

Not only that but they know that it’s got absolutely fuck all to do with his offence and everything to do with some other scumbag who felt slighted by him over a drug debt, or yknow, cause he looked at him funny. “Give that man an OBE” they write on the internet. Even if that “man” is also a rapist of children? What if he shows the same violent tendencies towards the Officers and civilians who have to deal with him every day?

As for “I wouldn’t have any problem bagging up those guts or jet washing it into the gutter”. Really? You think that’s a pleasant job? You think that’s how it works?

There isn’t one person on this earth who gives a shit that he is dead, I’m sure. But at least think about what you are writing, just for a second.

Thank you. At least there is one voice of reason amongst the joy here. Horrific as his crimes were, I cannot get on board with the idea of mob justice.

Exactly the people he would have been put with won't be in for shop lifting.

ohfourfoxache · 11/10/2025 19:27

I feel so sorry for the people who now have to do all the paperwork associated with this

Somehow I’m sure they’ll cope though

Glitchymn1 · 11/10/2025 19:28

Good, hope prisoners close ranks and don’t get more time- thank you for your service prisoners.

I hope he saw it coming, I hope he was afraid, hope he felt the life drain out of him.

CountryQueen · 11/10/2025 19:28

Americano75 · 11/10/2025 19:17

No, but it's relevant in the context of the thread isn't it? Or is that a big stretch for you too?

Maybe you’re just not as witty as you thought OP? Yes, most of us got that it was probably sarcasm, but it’s apparent many didn’t. So you weren’t clear. Why spend all evening giving it “good lord” instead of just realising your post wasn’t clear to everyone 🤷🏽‍♀️

Intellectually, its wrong, and a system failure.

But the emotional response is really very understandable.

Honestly, I'm no great wit. And I'm not the smartest but I like to think I can work out sarcasm when I see it, especially in this context. For fuck's sake.

You’ll be out clapping on the doorstep for them in a minute. “Service” indeed.

How do you expect they will “close ranks” and not get more time? They know who committed this particular murder. Do you think we will just not bother to prosecute him cause “thank you for your service” 😆

SalonDesRefuses · 11/10/2025 19:31

AInightingale · 11/10/2025 17:58

If you're glad this happened to Ian Watkins, are you also in favour of capital punishment? Because you really can't be of the 'hope they turned a blind eye' brigade and also oppose the death penalty, can you? Or is murdering a monster okay if a prisoner did it? I'm also reminded of David Blunkett's comments about cracking open the champagne when Shipman killed himself. We should just be honest and say that none of these bastards deserve to live.

I would be for capital punishment if it wasn't for the fact that there are miscarriages of justice, and an innocent person may be killed.

Watkins was someone who certainly deserved it.

(ETA - for certain crimes like this one)

I'm hoping they might have passed on.

If they haven't, I do feel sorry for them.

He didn’t have any “claim or gain” a week ago, nothing has changed in that respect.
