Separate the art from the artist. If you knew about the unsavoury details of every artist you've ever enjoyed, you'd never listen to or watch anything again. And that's just a boring life to lead when you think about it.

Hardly ‘unsavoury’ he was evil

DoYouThinkYouCouldTell · 11/10/2025 19:05

My heart bleeds purple pish .......

The fact he didn't have a whole life tariff was too much to contemplate.
His money couldn't save him.
Good riddance.

Nanatobethatsme46 · 11/10/2025 19:06

Lock them all up together and let them kill each other one by one
All as bad as each other and should never be released

CherryRipe1 · 11/10/2025 19:06

I heard he was having money extorted from him as protection money. He must have run out of money. ...Anyway, as Bette Davis said, one should only speak good of the dead. He's dead. Good.

HornyHornersPinger · 11/10/2025 19:06

I'd rather he'd been executed at the time of his evil conviction to save us the cost of feeding and keeping him warm for the last 12 years, but this is the next best thing.

I do love karma.

This is actually a shocking reflection on on the poor quality care and supervision provided by the prison. It doesn't matter what you think of the deceased, or his crimes, he should have been kept safe by the authorities.

How many staff to keep an eye on 600 /700 men ? You can't have your eyes on every single prisoner 24/7 .

SmallestGnome · 11/10/2025 19:07

Good. I really truly hope he suffered.

The vile excuse for a human being

Steps weren't that bad.

ItWasTheRightThing · 11/10/2025 19:08

I voted YABU because you said ‘how sad’ and clearly it’s not.
sarcasm doesn’t really come across when not spoken.

SorcererGaheris · 11/10/2025 19:09

Nineandahalf · 11/10/2025 18:07

I think lots of people do struggle to listen to R Kelly and MJ
And the lost prophet band members changed genre and made new music later. People could listen to that if they were so bothered about their income.

@Nineandahalf

But some people still enjoy the music regardless of what the artists have done or allegedly done.

Not everyone can be expected to feel the same. It's something that's personal for the individual.

If someone still enjoys the original Lost Prophets music, they are within their rights to listen to it if they want to.

anxietyangel · 11/10/2025 19:10

I hope it was absolutely horrifying, painful and dragged out in the most degrading way possible

Is it seriously that much of a stretch in this particular? Can you think of anyone who might feasibly be 'sad' at the news of this vile, evil individual's death? Come on.

Well I can't imagine his parents are exactly celebrating.

Aye but he will have spent many years in prison looking over his shoulder fearing for his life every day. That in itself is so satisfying knowing that he would have been suffering every day of his life. Apparently this wasn’t the first attempt at trying to unalive him.
But you are right, it’s karma and he’s got just that

WearyCat · 11/10/2025 19:14

Yeah I’m a pacifist generally speaking and very much in favour of human rights, but some people really do not deserve them. This man was a horrendous stain on humanity and I think he deserved everything he got.

MrsLizzieDarcy · 11/10/2025 19:14

Well as a taxpayer who had to contribute to keeping this man alive, I thank the person who did this on our behalves.

I'll save my sympathy for the officers who had the horror of dealing with this and for his victims.

Americano75 · 11/10/2025 19:15

Bagsintheboot · 11/10/2025 19:14

Do you think it's likely that I am one of his parents and decided to start a thread on Mumsnet?

Sugarfish · 11/10/2025 19:15

Good! This man deliberately hurt and abused the most defenceless and innocent people we have. His death should be celebrated!

Americano75 · 11/10/2025 19:15

No, but that wasn't the question you asked.

Beetlebumz · 11/10/2025 19:16

shuggles · 11/10/2025 19:05

I'm not sure why everybody celebrates these violent events.

First of all, the people who murder paedophiles in prison are not saints. The man who murdered Richard Huckle (one of the worst paedophiles on record) is a sex offender who is so dangerous that it is not permissible to leave him alone with a female prison officer under any circumstances.

Second point is that this is a symptom of prisons not being secure enough. If Ian Watkins has been murdered, who else could potentially be harmed?

Who cares? He’s gone. That’s what matters, for his victims and for wider society.

StressedLP1 · 11/10/2025 19:16

I don’t condone mob rule but I feel about as sad about this as I did when Richard Huckle got unalived.

Americano75 · 11/10/2025 19:17

Bagsintheboot · 11/10/2025 19:15

No, but that wasn't the question you asked.

No, but it's relevant in the context of the thread isn't it? Or is that a big stretch for you too?

God riddance but I think you could've phrased the opening post/vote so much better. It' has obviously led to some confusion

EmeraldShamrock000 · 11/10/2025 19:19

One less to worry about..
They should at least tattoo these types with a large yellow warning sign on their forehead.
Sympathy is for the poor DC he destroyed.

zipadeedodah · 11/10/2025 19:21

I very much doubt the man who killed Watkins was a pedo. They tend to stick together and are all on one wing.
