As with any death in custody there will be an investigation.
I just hope no staff get blamed for this.

Wakefield is a high security prison too.

EvieBB · 11/10/2025 18:37

Sad?! He was a disgusting rapist paedophile! Crack open the champagne! 🍾

Yet again, sarcasm.

I’m disinclined to celebrate anyones death but I am definitely not sad about this. Literally scum.

Notmycircusnotmyotter · 11/10/2025 18:55

@cynic17nah. He shouldn't. He deserves far worse. I'm glad to hear he was tortured 3 on 1 a couple of years ago. Might give him even a fracture of the fear and pain he inflicted on babies.

YorkshireGoldDrinker · 11/10/2025 18:56

Cynic17 · 11/10/2025 18:52

This is actually a shocking reflection on on the poor quality care and supervision provided by the prison. It doesn't matter what you think of the deceased, or his crimes, he should have been kept safe by the authorities.

I think the solution to that is to just have put him in solitary and never let him out and don't toss the key because the cell will need to be used again.

There the guards are redundant. Just let nature take it's course.

An unpopular opinion (I have many) I'm sure. But think about who this horrible man was and the suffering of his victims.

I don't think human rights apply where the subject doesn't qualify as human.

BeardofHagrid · 11/10/2025 18:57

IdealisticCynic · 11/10/2025 18:39

I understand this is an unpopular opinion, but we don’t (for good reason) have capital punishment or allow mob justice here. So someone being killed in prison by another inmate is no reason to celebrate, no matter how horrific his crimes.

I am also of the view that living in prison is a greater punishment than death given the suffering it entails and all the time reflect on what one has done wrong, so again I don’t think this is the great news some do.

He had three young “groupies” who regularly visited him for kisses and cuddles, per the Sun. Prison is absolutely not worse than death and most criminals continue their vile behaviour behind bars.

Today is a good day.

Whatafustercluck · 11/10/2025 18:57

I remember reading about his crimes when he was sentenced. I couldn't shake the feeling of utter disgust for him and sadness for his victims for days afterwards. It made me see in stark reality how ugly the world - or at least some of the people in it - can be sometimes.

I don't support capital punishment, but life was too good for this monster and rough justice was meted out by someone I'd gladly shake by the hand. My lasting disbelief is that two women conspired with him in his crimes, and they're no doubt coming up for parole soon.

Yeah it's weird. It's like watching reruns of Jim'll Fix It. Why would you want to watch or listen to anything remotely connected to Ian Watkins? It's not like there's no other music you can listen to.

@Jc2001

Some people obviously still enjoy the music, and the vile behaviour of Ian Watkins hasn't stopped them enjoying it.

Yes, they can listen to other music (and probably do) but they also want to listen to Lost Prophets songs that they can enjoy.

People are allowed to have different views re capital punishment though. I’m all for it. I also don’t give a fuck about prolonging the suffering of this kind of cunt. Get rid of them and eliminate the risk and cost.

66babe · 11/10/2025 19:00

That’s made my night !! Good riddance , vile piece of shit
My only thoughts remain with his victims.

Whyjustwhy83 · 11/10/2025 19:00

Good riddance.

The court sentencing remarks were one of the worst things I ever read. Horrendous man. Good riddance.

Not only were they some of the worst things I have ever read, they were also heavily redacted - with much of the worse stuff removed.

The person who did it is likely to be a similar offender to Watkins.

I don't think you should be shaking them by the hand.

Separate the art from the artist. If you knew about the unsavoury details of every artist you've ever enjoyed, you'd never listen to or watch anything again. And that's just a boring life to lead when you think about it.

Catsknowbest · 11/10/2025 19:01

Good.

Americano75 · 11/10/2025 17:25

I remember that story. Horrendous what he did to those children. Hopefully his passing brings them some relief.

HedwigEliza · 11/10/2025 19:03

Excellent news! Good riddance.

K0OLA1D · 11/10/2025 19:03

Lost Prophets were a massive part of my teens. They were my favourite band when I was 13/14 in 2003. I haven't listened to them since the new broke.

I am glad he will now never ever be free.

BunnyLake · 11/10/2025 19:03

Not going to read articles or even this thread but thank fuck for that 🥳

Paul2023 · 11/10/2025 19:03

Bagsintheboot · 11/10/2025 17:39

They bloody shouldn't be because if a prisoner can get hold of a weapon to do this then they can just as easily turn it on those same guards.

I won't be shedding a tear, but the fact a prisoner has managed to kill another when they shouldn't be able to access the right tools to do so isn't good news...

Exactly. My poor colleagues could have been victims too.- by the way I don’t work anywhere near Wakefield.

I couldn’t care about Watkins being killed but I do care that someone was able to use a knife to murder someone in a Category A prison.

SorcererGaheris · 11/10/2025 19:04

DramaLlamacchiato · 11/10/2025 17:53

Can you remember the last time you heard a lostprophets, R Kelly or Gary Glitter song on the radio? I can’t

@DramaLlamacchiato

But there's a difference between the radio playing/promoting the music of sex offenders and individuals who still enjoy the music choosing to listen to it privately.

People are entitled to listen to what they enjoy, no matter what the performer has done.

DeeKitch · 11/10/2025 19:04

May he rest in boiling p iss

SugarPlumpFairyCakes · 11/10/2025 19:05

Oh well.

Nanatobethatsme46 · 11/10/2025 19:05

Good and im glad he had years in prison watching his back before he was killed.hopefully a slow and painful death
Those poor babies and their families can know for sure he will NEVER abuse another child again

shuggles · 11/10/2025 19:05

I'm not sure why everybody celebrates these violent events.

First of all, the people who murder paedophiles in prison are not saints. The man who murdered Richard Huckle (one of the worst paedophiles on record) is a sex offender who is so dangerous that it is not permissible to leave him alone with a female prison officer under any circumstances.

Second point is that this is a symptom of prisons not being secure enough. If Ian Watkins has been murdered, who else could potentially be harmed?
