Sad ? He was a pedophile who raped very young children and babies!

Algen · 11/10/2025 18:38

FreeTheOakTree · 11/10/2025 18:34

OMG did he really rape a one year old baby boy?? I cannot even imagine how this is in any way possible.

I was aware of who he was and his conviction for paedophilia but didn't know details. Utterly monstrous and depraved evil evil man. I hope hell is real and is waiting for him. My god, what walks among us!!

It’s people like him that make me really hope that all the gory medieval depictions of Hell are accurate

IdealisticCynic · 11/10/2025 18:39

I understand this is an unpopular opinion, but we don’t (for good reason) have capital punishment or allow mob justice here. So someone being killed in prison by another inmate is no reason to celebrate, no matter how horrific his crimes.

I am also of the view that living in prison is a greater punishment than death given the suffering it entails and all the time reflect on what one has done wrong, so again I don’t think this is the great news some do.

BlusteryLake · 11/10/2025 18:39

Proper closure for his victims now. Good news.

HagsRule · 11/10/2025 18:39

He was vile I'm glad he's dead. Sadly the paedophile who was the CEO of LGBTQ youth scotland (who Scottish government is still giving public money to despite now having had two convicted paedophiles working for them with no internal investigation done once discovered) who also raped babies like Ian Watson is out of jail now and walking free. He betrayed his friends and accessed child abuse at work.

Shoopideedoop · 11/10/2025 18:40

Good riddance

AlphabetBird · 11/10/2025 18:41

No loss whatsoever. I feel sorry for the prison guards and others who had to witness it.

His case was utterly vile. I hope his victims found some peace and this news brings something the end of a chapter as much as it can. The poor babies whose mothers were involved in their abuse just break your heart to think about.

To a much different extent I do wonder how their more fervent fans coped. I remember seeing them at the NME tour years and years ago and there were people with tattoos for them and all sorts. Its a shame that innocent youthful enthusiasm was tainted with such evil.

teees · 11/10/2025 18:35

Really? Him getting royalties was the only reason you stopped? How disappointing.

Why would you be disappointed that someone you don't know has a different emotional response to music than you do?
Some people can still feel an objective appreciation for a piece of music, art, literature or film even if they find the actions of the person who made it morally repugnant. Some people can't. I don't think one is necessarily morally superior to the other.

OonaStubbs · 11/10/2025 18:42

I'm glad he's dead. Child abusers are the lowest of the low and baby abusers in particular, absolutely irredeemable and there's no reason for them to allowed to live. I hope he died screaming in pain.

Arraminta · 11/10/2025 18:43

Nosleepforthismum · 11/10/2025 17:54

Oh dear… hopefully the guards leisurely sauntered over to make sure the fucker was dead before administering the “first aid”

When Ian Watkins was held hostage and tortured by 3 other inmates in 2023, apparently the prison guards took an inordinately long time to rescue him.

MCF86 · 11/10/2025 18:44

YorkshireGoldDrinker · 11/10/2025 18:24

He was shanked in the jugular, it would have been over for him in seconds. So not prolonged. Which in my opinion is the wrong way to go for the type of individual Watkins was. I won't say what I think should have happened to him.

He was saved once before, I imagine he's been living in fear of someone finishing the job ever since at least.

Burn, Burn in Hell

NewYorkSummer · 11/10/2025 18:47

I’ve never been able to listen to them again since he was imprisoned.

I wonder how the two women he conspired with are feeling. I presume as they got lesser sentences they might be out now. Personally I thought they were just as culpable and should have got the same sentence he did.

In explaining to me that people have different emotional responses you have answered your own question.

jumpingthehighjump · 11/10/2025 18:47

South Wales Police should hang their heads in shame. 4 years of endless complaints of him from different women... around children, varying from inappropriate behaviour to abuse of little children. "No further action" taken.

Those poor children.

Crudd99 · 11/10/2025 18:47

LittleJustice · 11/10/2025 17:28

The Lost Prophets pedophile. Excellent news 👏

Agree. He'll never be able to hurt another child.

CountryQueen · 11/10/2025 18:48

God these comments.

These Officers (not guards ffs, how insulting) have to deal with that happening and everything that goes with it. Only to finally come home and read that people think they’re so fucking unprofessional that they allow vigilante murders on their watch. Or that paramedics stop off for a sausage roll, yeah, unprofessional lazy fat bastards. Apparently “you win the internet today” with that wise crack 🙄

Not only that but they know that it’s got absolutely fuck all to do with his offence and everything to do with some other scumbag who felt slighted by him over a drug debt, or yknow, cause he looked at him funny. “Give that man an OBE” they write on the internet. Even if that “man” is also a rapist of children? What if he shows the same violent tendencies towards the Officers and civilians who have to deal with him every day?

As for “I wouldn’t have any problem bagging up those guts or jet washing it into the gutter”. Really? You think that’s a pleasant job? You think that’s how it works?

There isn’t one person on this earth who gives a shit that he is dead, I’m sure. But at least think about what you are writing, just for a second.

Alconleigh · 11/10/2025 18:49

POTC · 11/10/2025 17:29

Phew, your "Gosh, how sad" was supposed to be sarcastic! That really didn't come across, it seemed sincere and I couldnt believe anyone would actually mean that!

It really didn’t come across as sincere, given the context!

Good. I hope he rots in hell.

user1476613140 · 11/10/2025 18:49

He was brilliant in Steps. Absolutely tragic news.

BeCyanSloth · 11/10/2025 18:49

Good I’m not religious but I hope the gates of hell are waiting for him

CatAsstrophe · 11/10/2025 18:51

LizzyEm · 11/10/2025 17:30

Why are people voting YABU???

Perhaps because the OP said 'gosh, how sad' as there's nothing sad about the death of a paedophile (it's unclear whether the opening post is sarcastic).

I hope his death was extremely painful and not immediate.

Cynic17 · 11/10/2025 18:52

This is actually a shocking reflection on on the poor quality care and supervision provided by the prison. It doesn't matter what you think of the deceased, or his crimes, he should have been kept safe by the authorities.
