To ask if most straight men are attracted much younger women?

RubyTuesday10 · 08/10/2025 21:11

Had a depressing moment at work today, male colleague played a Jimmy Carr stand-up clip on his phone and it went along the lines of “if I had to pick my favourite child it would be my neighbour’s hot daughter.” The other men with him laughed at it. I couldn’t help feeling a bit nauseous and it’s made me question whether many older straight men actually do fantasise about girls in their late teens or whatever. Perhaps I have been naive to think it was something that just appealed to a minority of perverts. One or two of them have daughters too and it just strikes me as odd that they could even laugh at a joke like that. Am I naive to feel this way?

Anecdotal story: by age 11, DD1 was sick of being cat called by men and found them disgusting.
We used to get grown men leering at her on the beach in Cornwall.
She had developed physically and was tall but obviously very young.

Now aged 17, and a stunning young woman, she has aged out of being catcalled. Envy

Dont be silly a woman of 18 or 19 is not a child!! Of course nen are sexually attracted to women in tbe prime of their fertility andv health and thus Most able to make and birth healthy children. That is not perverted its a Perfectly normal evolutionary biological urge.

No really you are more likely to have an early term birth under the age of 25. 25-35 are the lowest risk ages for having a baby. Thats a woman in her fertility prime. So it’s not just about reproduction.

I don’t really get it, I don’t find teenagers remotely attractive.

RingoJuice · 09/10/2025 05:04

Men are supposed to be attracted to fertile women. Aren’t we supposed to be most fertile in late teens, early 20s?

It would make sense that most modern men are descended from ancient men mating with the most fertile groups. Only socialization has changed this preference—we’ve placed harsh social penalties on being attracted to later teens (which is probably totally normal from purely a biological perspective) so men probably have to train themselves to ‘not see’ or ‘not think’ these things. Idk I don’t think they’ll admit to it one way or another. I think it’s just comforting lies when they say they are not attracted to teenage girls (around 16/17/18, not like 13/14)

Although I think later marriage was very common in Western Europe, iirc 22-26, so I have heard it proposed that some of the recent neoteny of Western people comes from choosing ‘younger looking but actually older women’ as marriage partners

User37482 · 09/10/2025 05:06

I’m 7 years younger than DH (we met when I was at the end of my 20’s), I did ask him about it and he said my age was actually slightly younger than he would have gone for if he knew how old I was. I actually think he would be disgusted by the idea of a man his age trying to shag a teenager. I don’t know if thats a general principle or because he has teenage nieces. I think sometimes men only realise something is gross if they can relate it to a girl or woman they love. Which is a bit sad.

I flat out don’t find men younger than me attractive.

Safest pregnancy so peak fertility for successful pregnancy is 24-35

SugarPlumpFairyCakes · 09/10/2025 05:09

I think men do prefer younger women. Perhaps they think it makes them look younger themselves. It doesn’t. It makes them look like their dad.

Perhaps they think they’re more in charge if the woman is younger.

Who knows?

I think 23 is peak female attractiveness to men.

Just ask Leonardo Dicaprio!

If you could expect a substantial number of children to die in the first year of life, perhaps it’s more chances? I don’t think it’s so clear cut. Especially when it may be more related to lifestyle and education in modern life

There’s a difference between something being normal from a biological perspective and something being socially permitted though? If it is a real thing among men, we should understand where it comes from? And realize that our current social norms are not historical norms by any means.

I don’t know how any of these excuses perving on teen girls. Surely they can control themselves?

Like it may have once been normal for an older woman to introduce a teen boy to sex. But such women are jailed nowadays. Social norms have changed.

sagebasil · 09/10/2025 05:47

Jimmy Carr has always been a wanker - that hasn't changed.

Capillaryaction · 09/10/2025 05:53

I'm over 50 and with the earlier poster who pointed out that we don't fancy 50 year old men either!
What you see as 'attractive' doesn't change as you get older!

Fabulously · 09/10/2025 05:55

Yes? It’s not difficult to understand imo.

As an illustration - I think older men are undesirable and that younger men are physically more attractive (ie people my own age). I don’t think receding hairlines, baldness or dad bods are more attractive than a full head of hair and a toned physique. So to me, it’s not difficult to imagine that men may not find the traits of ageing women to be more attractive than 16-19 year olds. I’m in my 20s and I don’t physically look that different from when I was 16-19 as I’m the same height & same dress size - there’s not a big physical difference where I looked like a child at 16. In fact I’d say I probably looked better then because I had less stretch marks etc.

I think men are going to see a woman they aren’t related to as fair game as opposed to immediately assuming vulnerabilities. They won’t see themselves as perverts by dating younger, they usually get applauded for securing someone younger. Historically age gaps with women being younger than men were prevalent. So to many men dating younger is seen as desirable.

MemorableTrenchcoat · 08/10/2025 22:52

Of course it works. Males are competing with countless other males. So, the earlier they can find a mate, before she’s snapped up by someone else, the better. Also, nature only cares about reproduction. So, the earlier a female starts having children, the more children she can have in her lifetime. We are descended from the males who pursued this strategy.

But it wouldn't be funny to say men fancy women aged 18-26 would it ? Everybody already knows this.

AramintaWildbloode · 09/10/2025 06:20

It is amazing how some women defend men.
Humans are more than just our base biological urges.
Well some of us are.

Honestly I think people on this thread are tip-toeing around ageing here. It’s the elephant in the room.

Humans are animals.

Which means they can be trained to a degree

PreciousTatas · 09/10/2025 06:29

I don't think it's 'normal' but I do think the internet has helped these creeps find each other and convince themselves it is. That and the excess porn use demanding they watch more degenerate and taboo acts to get off their deadened worm.

When I see a grown man gawping at school girls it's an instant and visceral reaction of protective instincts and disgust. And I've seen the same reaction in men, even when the girls are not any relation to them. It triggers the same protective and violent reactions as pedophiles do.

Most men have wives and date around their own age range.

Neemie · 09/10/2025 06:31

Women’s peak fertility age is late teens to late 20’s so that will be when they are most attractive to many men. Men peak in their early thirties. Obviously not everything is about fertility and plenty of people find different things attractive.

Men are probably most attractive in their mid twenties. The losing hair thing is very tragic from an aesthetic perspective.

It’s biology. They are attracted to the most fertile. Theres no point, from a biological point of view, being attracted to someone who is less likely to become pregnant.
These inbuilt traits are thousands of years old.

newnameforthisshitshow · 09/10/2025 07:10

governments across the world, including the western world, had to literally create laws to stop old men marrying underage girls. sadly that says it all

There no mention of age there. Obviously younger than him but not necessarily under 18. Obviously young men and women are going to be hotter.

I'm middle-aged but I'm still my Dad's child.
