Jews leaving the UK

Ihatetomatoes · 06/10/2025 10:42

I dont blame them. I would if I were Jewish.

They have been failed by their country, which is the UK. I wish them well and hope the UK can sort its anti semitism problems so it becomes safe for Jewish people again.

You made all those assumptions from me replying to a comment about 'it was only 1 terrorist and 1 Jewish person killed, the police killed the other'. So many assumptions from me saying globalise the intifada is encouraging terrorism. I have to assume therefore since your comments are totally nothing to do with what I actually said that you meant to reply to someone else.

I don’t suppose the links with Tommy Robinson and Isreal are helping. EDL and its campaign of hate against Islam has some very rich backers including Isreal and pro Isreal groups. I see he has been invited to visit.

This hatred is being orchestrated.

Yes very true. In Europe there has been an orchestrated anti Islam / anti immigration rhetoric in the media and government for decades with Israeli backing. It’s very helpful for Israel to have people fearful of Muslims and viewing them all as terrorists. And we see they continue the same BS now with ‘see what Islamic terrorism we have to deal with? Could be you next if we don’t slaughter the entirety of the Palestinian population (sorry, Hamas)’

Follow the posts! 'Ah that's alright then, since it was 'only 1 man killed the the terrorist '...... nothing to see here then. Perhaps it went over your head?

I think it's London where Jews are being harassed, I haven't heard of it in other parts of the country (but others may know differently?). It's appalling, these poor families have nothing to do with the situation in Israel, and their personal views are their own business.

I don’t live in London, I’m in Scotland. And it’s horrible.

Anything to say about why Jewish people feel unsafe in the UK?

Well if you read my post, I was asking you if you place any blame for this on your apparent support for the Israeli government and their actions?

So if Jews deserve to be attacked if they support Israel then I guess we should start attacking Christians too as some of them support Israel? Do you not see how ridiculous it is to say ‘some of this sort of people think this way therefore if other people who are similar are being harassed and attacked that’s fine’??

any sort of thought like ‘they brought this on themselves’ is really dangerous as you’re conflating two different things.

also I really wish people who join a chat like this can at least learn to spell Israel. This isn’t about you, just something I keep noticing and it’s really irritating.

I’m genuinely struggling to understand what it is you are saying. If you could use clearer less emotive language it would help.

By “support genocide” I understand you are saying “support the actions of Netanyahu’s government”. As it happens I deplore Netanyahu and his government and the horror that is going on in Gaza. But that is fundamentally irrelevant. If I happened to be a Netanyahu supporter that would not change my right to live here peacefully without being abused and threatened with violence.

by “continued (further) occupation of Palestinian land””. Could be anyone’s guess given your words so far. I rather took that as the existence of the state of Israel itself given your general tone. If you’re talking about the settlements, I abhor them too. But guess what? It shouldn’t matter!

the idea that you get to decide who is an “innocent Jew” and who is not is equally abhorrent to me. The approach you take- to demand to know my views as though you are some arbiter (who made you boss?) is extraordinarily egocentric.

And it is utterly terrifying that you cannot conceive that there are other views that should be allowed to co exist.

The blame for Jewish people wanting to leave the UK, lays with the antisemites, the people carrying out attacks, the threats to hurt, damage to property, the terrorist who managed an attack on the synagogue, the people inciting others to violence (globalise the intifada), the ones chanting about 'Mohammad killing Jews'..... the blame lays with the perpetrators of all that.

Do you mean it's happening in Scotland too, Purple? I'm way north but not as north as you iyswim and haven't seen any anti-Semitism, but it's very rural here. People are too busy worrying about storms and sheep. It really is horrible, and frightening.

What more? It is illegal, it is prosecuted, it is socially unacceptable. What else do you want?

If it were socially unacceptable people would be shocked by some of the narrative and tone of the protests, the way the Hamas attacks were seen and the general gist of feeling that Israel doesnt have the right to defend itself.

But people arent shocked by the way Israel and Jewish people themselves are talked about. Im just an observer and probably dont know enough abut their experience but this is what I see

We are miles past the “right to defend itself”, it’s genocide.

Well my daughter just went off to school in tears as she’s scared about what people will say to her today. Thanks to everyone for this hideous morning.

I dont agree its a genocide. People just use that word over and over. I also dont agree with countries or organisations that have termed it as one either. It doesnt fit the criteria.

Yes of course it is. There are swatstikas outside my workplace and my daughter was attacked at school and my coworkers have said horrible things. I live in Edinburgh.

rolloverbeethoven · 07/10/2025 08:23

I'm so sorry.

Araminta1003 · 07/10/2025 08:27

I have zero issue with Palestinians protesting for loved ones, but I have a problem with so called „Progressive Left“ types jumping on the bandwagon. And there is a line like today and the last few days. My feelings towards these protesters are the same as towards Reform types, I don’t like them. They aren’t adding anything. If you genuinely want to do good help the homeless or raise money to send for aid but your opinion isn’t worth countless hours of police time or all thus division.

Lots of Israelis applying for citizenship to Poland. They claim through their grandparents heritage. This gives them the right to reside in Europe. Don't think they want to go live in Poland just gets them the European passport.
