Two celery stalks
One chicken breast
Five baby potatoes
Half a red onion
Cucumber
Four small beetroot balls
One medium avocado
Watercress, rocket and spinach leaves
Chopped feta

With a dressing of anchovies, lemon juice, olive oil, mustard and honey.

YANBU - That’s definitely enough. On the large side, even.
YABU - That’s not enough.

It sounds ok.

Though you may want to consider having a Glasgow Salad next time.

ChickpeaCauliflowerSalad · 02/10/2025 21:56

There's not an option of 'its fine'

im veggie but if I swap that out for a veggie protein & the feta for another cheese it sounds good.

all that matters is how the person eating it felt.

ChocolateCinderToffee · 02/10/2025 21:57

Not enough salad, too much carb/protein.

What's that? A fro fried mars bar mixed in?? 🤣🤣.

DonnyBurrito · 02/10/2025 21:58

I'd say that would be a lovely healthy dinner. It's not too much, unless you're really tiny. I'm a size 10/12 and I would eat all of that easily, and feel satisfied.

Oh yippee, another performative undereating thread.

Not had more than a couple of these this week, have we?

Allthesnowallthetime · 02/10/2025 21:58

@ChickpeaCauliflowerSalad it is chips. Deep fried, chip shop chips, and lots of them!

glittereyelash · 02/10/2025 21:59

Sounds like a fine portion but I'd add some extra ingredients. I like around 20 types of veg in my salads or I end up snacking!

Hellohelga · 02/10/2025 21:53

No tomatoes? That’s not a salad

No this is wrong. No tomatoes is good for me!

all this is it a fruit, is it a vegetable, is just wrong. Get rid 😀

NurtureGrow · 02/10/2025 21:59

Sounds great!

It’s the very definition of salad.

I had a roast dinner today. Chicken breast dtuffed woth feta, potatoes spinach and beetroot. With a mustard dressing. Is that also a salad?

RampantIvy · 02/10/2025 22:01

Thepeopleversuswork · 02/10/2025 21:27

Oh yippee, another performative undereating thread.

No it isn't. That is a lot of food.

TheChosenTwo · 02/10/2025 22:02

Totally depends for me, on a hungry cold
day when I’d done a fair bit of exercise I’d probably ditch the boring new potatoes and substitute it for some nice bread. Not sure I’d want a whole avocado as well as the chicken breast and no red wet beetroot will be bleeding into any of my food thanks.
But i have some kind of chicken and salad around 3 times a week, either lunch or dinner so other than preferences for no celery or beetroot or heinous new potatoes it’s quite a regular looking salad for me.

GoldPoster · 02/10/2025 22:03

I weigh 8 stone at 5’6” and that sounds fine not too much at all. I’d have oat cakes not potatoes, I prefer them.

RustedOver · 02/10/2025 22:03

The whole avocado would be too much for me, having once made that mistake before 🤣
The rest sounds ok.

Ubugly · 02/10/2025 22:04

How is this a lot of food? If you had roast dinner it would be way more, or chicken and rice and veg or rice etc it would be the same?

Sounds great but I am having hot even thinking about half a red onion!

Orangemintcream · 02/10/2025 22:05

I think it’s a bit much - mainly because I see a salad as a light meal. Therefore having chicken, feta and then avocado as well isn’t really necessary.

I would probably pick one of those. Also I don’t like onion so I would skip that but personal preference really.

FurForksSake · 02/10/2025 22:07

The competitive under eating comment was about the replies saying it was too much food, not about the very generous meal outlined by the op.

Westfacing · 02/10/2025 22:07

Sounds good to me but I wouldn’t have the feta - and I always eat a whole avocado! 🥑🥑

Nannyfannybanny · 02/10/2025 22:09

I always get accused of competitive under eating. I have a hiatus hernia, have to eat small meals very slowly.. people who complain they're still hungry or overweight, eat quickly..I had pretty much this for my evening meal. I don't like avocado. There wasn't chicken, just feta, can't eat onions, had raw beetroot and shredded raw carrot.. plus the rest,an apple an hour old out of the garden.special dressing, low acid.. sometimes I will add sweetcorn or green beans.

JLou08 · 02/10/2025 22:09

It would be more than enough for me. My DH and DS (older teen) probably wouldn't be satisfied with it though.

Catterbat · 02/10/2025 22:10

Hedgehog23 · 02/10/2025 21:35

Two sticks of celery too many.

I prefer no sticks.

Disco2022 · 02/10/2025 22:12

Interesting. I came on here to say it doesn't sound that excessive and I can't believe the competitive undereating, but I just popped it in a calorie counter and it came to 901 calories. So depending on what else you eat that day and what size person you are it could be a bit big! (Avocado was a large proportion of that calorie count)

LeaderBee · 02/10/2025 22:13

Is this one of the fabled "Massive Salad" threads ive heard so much about?

BlueEyedBogWitch · 02/10/2025 22:13

20?

So, that’s:

lettuce
peppers
cucumber
tomatoes
avocado
grated carrot
onion
beetroot
shredded cabbage…?

I’m clutching at straws to make 9!
