Yes 2 people were murdered yesterday, 2 people too many. Absolutely abhorrent. Do you know how many black and brown people have been murdered over the last year? Some of them because it was just assumed they were terrorists ? Some because of blatant racism? This is not a competition obviously, or a race to the top of who is more at risk. But it is very incorrect to suggest that Jews (or Muslims, or any other minority group) are not given this advice!

This is what’s happening now. People saying ‘yes, what has happened is abhorrent BUT…’. There is no ‘but’. We’re talking about the murders of people yesterday. Not about what’s happened in the world over the last decades. Want to address that, then start another thread. There are families waking up today faced with planning the burials of their loved ones.

@HavingYouTubeDoesntMakeYouAFilmmaker you think irish catholics were not treated badly throughout the Troubles?!

Do you have evidence for that?

And before that, the vast majority were perpetrated by Catholics

In England or the UK? The paramilitaries were responsible for more deaths during the Troubles. Most people don't even know they exist or the collusion with the British government. Separate thread though.

It baffles me that so many are ignorant to the conflict in our lands but seemingly are experts about ones in the Middle East.

Quite

When was the last time Muslims in the UK were attacked in a similar fashion to this? This isn’t a facetious question, I actually don’t know?

Livelovebehappy · 03/10/2025 09:11

And I want to add that it’s disgusting that people have brought their ‘war’ to our country. We want no part in it. How dare people think they can bring their hatred here. The Middle East is a screwed up place, and people leave it and yet try to bring all their crap with them. Stay there. Fight for your country there. But do not bring it here.

AzurePanda · 03/10/2025 09:11

It must be so frightening to be Jewish in Britain today. What a shocking state we are in as a country.

The creation of the Israeli state is a massive part of the problem, to solve the post war problem of the displacement and heinous mistreatment of the Jews, not just by the Nazis but historically over years from many many communities the west decided to land grab from Arab people which they were not entitled to do and just outsource the problem. Instead of welcoming Jewish people in the community and finally bringing anti semetic behavior from generations to and end. All they did was create hate on all sides. But I have never seen hate and dehumanisation systematically and consistently enacted like the Israeli state has, generations of trauma and destruction, apartheid, war crimes and ethnic cleansing. Why don't the west intervene? We started it, we don't want the problem, we want it to stay far away and we have too much invested in it. So we let them fight it out, let the Israel break every international humanitarian law going, turn a blind eye and sympathize with them when people conflate Zionist and the Israel state with Jewish people as a whole. I have protested countless times in the last 20 years I have never experienced anti semetic behavior, it's not the goal of pro Palestine people

You do know that a million Jews were ethnically cleansed by Arab states when Israel was created - Jewish communities who had lived in those countries for thousands of years, all gone, many were murdered, their property taken, their historical artifacts destroyed, the majority forced to flee to Israel, Europe and the US as refugees. I would say that was pretty dehumanising for them. Very few know about that, we only hear about the Palestinian Nakba but never the Farhud or the waves of pogroms against Jews. And don't get me started on what has happened to Christians and other minorities like the Yazidis, Bahai and Zoroastrians in the Middle East. They are disappearing now too.

YANBU

the men who drove around north London calling for the death and rape of Jews several years ago were never charged which tells you all you need to know about how seriously this country takes threats against its Jewish population.

spontaneous “pro Palestine” protests have been permitted across the UK this evening. Why do they feel the need to do it today? It can only be further intimidation of Jewish communities.

it’s an absolute disgrace

Agree - and yet, people are put in prison for tweets.

The police appear to only work for a small section of society because when Jewish people or women and girls report direct threats of death, they get ignored and told there is 'no charge to answer'. When it's someone the police deem in the right group (and goodness knows which group that is but it doesn't seem to be normal, decent, law abiding people) it's all about whether they're offended and charges are brought no matter what.

Two tier justice; anti-semitism is excused and tacitly condoned and this has happened over and over again.

It is a disgrace.

So many Jewish people planning to exit this country, we will be worse off without them but really who can blame them?

Foolsgold74 · 03/10/2025 09:14

Bipitybopitybo · 03/10/2025 08:36

The times headline is that Jews should not gather in groups and to keep their doors shut. There is NO OTHER group in the UK who have to do this. It’s shocking. And it’s shocking how many people on this board are blaming Jews for attacks Jews!

Women have been doing this for years. Being told not to go out after dark, not to get drunk, not to wear certain clothes, not to walk in isolated places, to hide their hair, to put a dummy in the passenger seat whilst driving so they don't look like they're alone.

Strangerthanfictions · 03/10/2025 09:00

The holiest day on which 2 people were killed which is abhorrent. 53 other pepe were also killed by the Israeli state on that holy day, children searching for firewood, women at a food station, people in tents. This happens every day and nowhere near enough people condemning it. This all has to stop

How can you say nowhere near enough people condemn the war? It’s literally all people and the news talk about.

And the fact that so many people think that marching and shouting “behead the Jews” in UK major cities is perfectly acceptable, has now created a catalyst for islamists to murder unconnected people in the name of “genocide”.

Europe and the US has been on high alert for more than 30 years relating to Islamic extremism, but now that the Jews are involved, all is forgiven. It’s disgusting.

Pissedoffandneedtovent · 03/10/2025 09:18

Honestly the history of the creation of Israel is now irrelevant, in the same way we shouldn’t let the murder of 500,000 Brits influence our relationship with Germans now. Many countries lost land and had borders redefined after WW2, millions were displaced and lost homes overnight. Everyone was expected to adapt to their new reality and not hold grudges for the sake of peace. Why are Gazans different and special in this regard?

CleopatraSelene · 03/10/2025 09:19

SpaceRaccoon · 03/10/2025 08:24

It is Islamophobic to claim that only Muslims have ever been a threat to Jews.

I don't know about islamophobic but it would be historically illiterate, so I doubt anyone is claiming it.
However we're living in 2025, and realistically that is a far greater threat to Jewish people than the far right (in fact I've seen no genuine evidence that the "far right" in the UK currently poses any threat whatever to Jewish people).

Ik the US there IS growing anti Semitism on the right. Tucker Carlson & Candace Owens both blame Mossad for killing Charlie Kirk, I've watched videos on YouTube arguing that Kirk was shot by a 'secret Mossad sniper' & they get huge numbers of anti Semitic comments from rightists..

MyHeartyCoralSnail · 03/10/2025 09:20

Well the Home Secretary has come out and said that the pro Palestinian marches after the Manchester attack were “fundamentally unBritish” calling them “dishonourable “ Even the Labour government are starting to see the anti semitism behind the facade of these “peaceful protests” let’s hope they get banned for what they are, mechanisms designed to intimidate and create fear for Jews. Last time I looked, that was a hate crime.

We seem to have imported vicious hatreds from other parts of the world.

Great.😡

Blair imported many of the Muslims must likely to be radicalised (sectarian upbringing in rural Pakistan) contrast that to US where they mainly have educated urbanised Muslim migrants who support gay marriage even at a higher rate than white US evangelicals.

Essentially our problems seem to come from men who assumed all Muslims were the same..

Tbh there’s a whole argument around this, eg the infiltration of women’s groups by men under the threat of “transphobia” many academics argue that witch trials were largely driven by stopping women meeting in groups (covens).

It's not racist to say we have a lot of sectarian rural Pakistani Muslims here. That's where the grooming gangs & other stuff come from.

People like you who decry fair criticism as racist are part of the problem. It's racist to ignore problems and not criticise dysfunctional aspects of culture. As a white Briton, I can say historically some areas have had more regressive attitudes. Why can't you do the same?
