@samthepigeon I think some
of the confusion was the fact he had a terrorist handbook. The police said they wanted to release info much earlier but were unable too. In this climate you can't really leave gaps for very long. I think the published photos and a name yesterday very quickly actually.

I know that he had terrorist equipment etc. But I didn't think he was acting for a cause, as the comment I originally responded to said he was. I was just checking I hadn't missed something.

clipboardz · 03/10/2025 08:11

@samthepigeon how many times do you need to labour the point?

clipboardz · 03/10/2025 08:11

He was not acting for a cause as I clarified already.

Bluecrystal2 · 03/10/2025 08:12

I'm sure Jewish people don't want to hear any more spinless politicians say 'our thoughts are with you' etc. We've heard them parrot the same old thing over and over again. We want action, not words.

How pro Palestine marches were allowed to go ahead yesterday is beyond me. This country is fucked.

If you want to make blatant blanket statements like this, then it must be fair to say that overall Jews are the biggest contemporary murderers of Muslims, so every Muslim should fear Jews? Or maybe you'll say this has nothing to do with Israel?

This is a ridiculous comparison.

Jewish people in the UK have nothing to do with the actions of the Israeli government.

Jewish men are not killing people in terrorist attacks. Extremist Muslims are.

Look at how many Islamist attacks and murders there have been in Europe in the past few years.

How many teachers have been beheaded in public for mentioning the Jewish god?

I have not said anything anti-Semitic at all. You have backed yourself into a corner, and now you want to deflect.

This is from the poster who said "how do we know the terrorist is an islamic one, he could be mentally ill wondering about the streets in his pyjamas" 🤔

have a lot of shame, critical reasoning and sense,

Evidently

I did not say this, please read the posts before you attribute them to someone, then make sarcastic comments.

Timeforabitofpeace · 03/10/2025 08:15

@Echobelly The most sensible comment I have read for a long time.

SpaceRaccoon · 03/10/2025 08:15

Where was the help for the Muslims it's been like that since 9/11 , the July bombings and it's been getting worse . All you hear is when something bad happens is , what religion where they?! that dog whistle suggesting it was a Muslim.

Interesting that none of your sympathy is for the actual victims of these attacks, and their grieving families?
And it's not a dog whistle, is it? In the vast, vast majority of cases, that's exactly who it is. The list of Islamic terror attacks in the UK/Europe in the last two decades makes for grim reading - bigger stuff like Charlie Hebdo, Ariane Grande, Nice and the Bataclan, but then constant car attacks and stabbings that barely make the news because "only" one or two people died and it's just background noise now.

SammyScrounge · 03/10/2025 01:52

It is Jews who are lying dead in the street and ill in hospital. Have the Jews committed violence like that against anyone in the UK?
No. They are a law abiding people.

The unfortunate tendency of the left to side with radical Islam always ends badly as it did in Iran in 1979 when they were all slaughtered by the incoming Islamist regime. When they say global intifada this is what they mean.

SunnyViper · 03/10/2025 08:18

Longingdreamer · 02/10/2025 21:17

... and how Jews are not protected in this country.

This is utter nonsense. The attack was an extremist Islamist and Jews are better protected than anyone in this country.

@verybighouseinthecountry if Ive confused your posts with another nonsensical poster I apologise. It's hard to keep track of them all!

We also know that the UK government have actively ignored the threat from far right extremism, preferring to focus on scrutinizing Muslims.

So if the government gave actively ignored the threat of ‘far right extremism’, where is it?

What are the concert goers being murdered en masse, the soldiers beheaded in the street, the little girls hacked to death at a dance class by a ‘far right extremist’? And that’s just the tip of the iceberg here and in Europe.

Honestly, you need to look at what is actually happening rather than believing the guff fed to you by the left wing ideologues.

Nazi isn’t a religion though.

No but it is an ideology. It is Islamophobic to claim that only Muslims have ever been a threat to Jews.

With all due respect, it’s not whataboutism time. People died. People were attacked at their chosen place of worship. Lives were shattered & lost.
Human lives. Their creed and “who has it worse” is SUCH a weird comment.

I have Jewish friends, I have Muslim friends. Agnostics, Catholics, a few Hindu, nonbelievers, etc. All human beings & their lives are all worth the same. This fucking “othering”, them/us/group A v. group B has got to stop.
The attacks are so tragically predictable & needless, stirred up by hateful rhetoric across the spectrum and media. Don’t buy into it. Find the common ground - we’re humans.

SpaceRaccoon · 03/10/2025 08:24

It is Islamophobic to claim that only Muslims have ever been a threat to Jews.

I don't know about islamophobic but it would be historically illiterate, so I doubt anyone is claiming it.
However we're living in 2025, and realistically that is a far greater threat to Jewish people than the far right (in fact I've seen no genuine evidence that the "far right" in the UK currently poses any threat whatever to Jewish people).

It is ridiculous, I was using this (and statistically it's true) to show that you cannot say a group or population of people are dangerous/a terror threat based on the actions of a very small minority of them. It's utterly stupid, lacks any sense or reasoning but it's exactly what the government wants. And I did not at any time say Jewish people in the UK are in any way responsible. The terror attack is awful, and feels so much worse as it was on a holy day.
It's so incredibly sad that groups who are both under risk and living in fear turn it into an us v them. If you look at any thread on antisemitism, it always becomes anti Muslim. Anyone claiming to be an ally who starts attacking other groups needs to be treated with caution. I've often looked at these posts and majorly cringed, they think they are being very helpful, but they are causing a lot more harm than good.

SpidersAreShitheads · 03/10/2025 03:57

I think this comment is spot on.

Today we stand in solidarity with the Jewish community after a truly awful attack.

I think it’s fair to say that antisemitism has risen. But then so has bigotry against all minority groups. The hate spewed out is just horrible to see. Just look at this thread.

We can mourn what happened today while also acknowledging that hate crimes against all non-white, non-British groups seem to be increasing across the board. And NONE of it is ok.

OP, you asked whether Jewish people are protected in this country. I would say they’re as protected as anyone is - the police responded swiftly today.

I think the question to ask is not whether the Jewish community is protected but whether they’re being increasingly targeted - and sadly, I think the answer to that is yes. And that’s the real issue. Unfortunately I don’t see it improving any time soon,

👏👏👏👏

It's on social media, on forums, in people's houses, schools in churches....everywhere really. Extremism is not just about stabbing someone. It's an ideology.

What on earth have I just read?! The paradigm you inhabit is not the reality. Blame terrorist group Hamas for starting a war it can’t win, embedding terrorist infrastructure within its population and stealing aid.

There are approximately 20 million Jews in the world and about 2 billion Muslims. Whose view will be amplified most, do you think?

Have you looked at Israel on the map? Have you seen how it’s surrounded by enemies who are actively trying to destroy it? Have you thought why Israel has the Iron Dome? Because it’s constantly under attack. Israel is ending the existential threat Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, houthis, hizbollah, Hamas et al exerts.

War is a terrible thing. Many innocents die and suffer. This war could have stopped before it truly got underway if governments and populations applied pressure on Israel’s enemies to stop their genocidal intent.

What "genuine evidence" have you got to suggest that Muslims are a far greater threat to Jews, and that the far right aren't even a genuine threat? I'm assuming you must work in governmental offices to make such an assertion.

AlecTrevelyan006 · 03/10/2025 06:26

The Left's antisemitism, Islamist and 'friends of Hamas' problem predates the current actions of the Israeli government. So, whilst there are no doubt many well-meaning people opposed solely to the actions of the Israeli government, they march on the same side of the street as the 'from the river to the sea', 'final solution', 'at all costs' and 'death to Israel' people.

The acts of the Israeli government have been going on for 70+ years? And what about the lefts friends of Israel?

MauveExpert · 03/10/2025 08:35

Sadly I’ve been fearful of this happening for some time. I raised it with my synagogue but it wasn’t taken particularly seriously.
I’ve now stopped attending services as I do not feel safe
