Sure. When you have scores of Jewish men routinely committing acts of terror, then you can say ‘Islamophobia is WAY worse’.

Jews have every right to fear Muslims.

If you want to make blatant blanket statements like this, then it must be fair to say that overall Jews are the biggest contemporary murderers of Muslims, so every Muslim should fear Jews? Or maybe you'll say this has nothing to do with Israel?

clipboardz · 03/10/2025 07:10

And neither is 'Islamism', which is automatically mentioned the second a brown person carries out an atrocity, before we even know if he has a religion.

That's what happens when the majority of terrorist attacks are islamic.

During the troubles do you think people assumed a terror attack here was the work of the IRA?

The whatsboutery on the thread is insane

Really quick to call someone an Islamic terrorist just because they have a Muslim name.

I think it was more the dummy suicide best and the stabbings of innocent people but yes perhaps he was wearing pyjamas underneath and was actually sleep walking.

The minimising is unbelievable

I agree. Why do the minimising anyway.

Yes that's exactly my point.

They can defend or excuse so have to deflect.

Islam is a growing threat to this country. Our Jewish neighbours live peacefully and integrate and this act has made my blood boil.

This is straight out of far right propaganda.
And nonsense.

Mimph · 03/10/2025 07:20

Appalling act of terrorism , my heart goes out to those murdered and injured and the Jewish community

WateringCans · 03/10/2025 07:21

I feel like the extremist Muslims are going after the Jews now, but that given the chance they would do the same to any non Muslims. I don’t understand why non Muslims would join the “pro Palestine” marches - as they’ve become “anti Jewish” marches (not “anti Israelis who support Netanyahu “, which would be more understandable).

Ok, so now that you've agreed that Jews are the biggest threat to Muslims (outside of the UK) should we call it "the Jewism threat"? From your rationale, we can say Muslims have every right to automatically fear Jews, and it should be called Jewism terror as "that's what happens".

Unfortunately you’re wrong. Government data below for England and wales to March 24. I include info about hate crimes and therefore prejudice against Muslims too because people have said it’s on the rise. They’re right but consider the ratios. There are 300,000 Jews in the UK and 4,000,000 Muslims. With that in mind, one would expect there to be c10 times as many hate crimes against Muslims than Jews but the amounts are very similar. There is a big antisemitism problem in the UK.

Annually, there were 3,282 religious hate crimes targeted at Jewish people in the year ending March 2024, more than double the number recorded the previous year (1,543). These offences accounted for a third (33%) of all religious hate crimes in the last year. By comparison, the proportion in the previous year was 20%.
There was also an increase in religious hate crimes targeted against Muslims since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas conflict, with 3,866 offences in the latest year, up 13% from 3,432 recorded the previous year. In the last year, almost 2 in 5 (38%) of religious hate crimes were targeted against Muslims.

Thank you. So proportionally anti semitism is far worse than the levels of Islamophobia in this country. Some of the awful victim blaming comments on here demonstrate why.

People also seem to have been conditioned into accepting the current levels of Islamic terrorism across Europe. The threat is enormous and 75% of the MI5 caseload is Islamic terrorism but people will also dismiss the obvious national security issue of large numbers of men from Islamic countries entering our country.

We know for a fact that terrorists are entering on small boats. One known terrorist from Egypt was convicted of raping a woman in Hyde park.

I haven't agreed with any of the nonsense you have spouted. Clearly that's gone over your head.

This thread is about growing antisemitism in the UK, you are proving the OPs point. Well done.

This!

This! Is antisemitism.

Why have you come on this thread to draw false equivalence between the actions of the Israeli state and the cold blooded murder of innocent British people at a synagogue as they celebrate Yom Kippur?

Ansjovis · 03/10/2025 07:39

I follow a Jewish lady on Instagram who has lived in the UK, US and I think other countries as well. She has just posted: "I lived in London for 7 years. I experienced more antisemitism there than anywhere else in the world."

I believe her.

We also know that the UK government have actively ignored the threat from far right extremism, preferring to focus on scrutinizing Muslims.

This isn’t a competition. It shouldn’t be a race to the bottom (or top of this fucking pyramid of hatred)!

and I wouldn’t be too sure about that, btw.

London mosques receiving safety training made the headlines in 2024.
but that’s been standard for Jewish institutions. Strict security measures, trained security personnel, entrance controls? Those are needed for all Jewish institutions. In the UK, in France, Germany, Switzerland and all other European nations AFAIK.

My former uni’s Arab studies institute could be accessed by anyone.
The Jewish one? Nope. Security cameras and a security guard that had to buzz people in. Even the local rabbi had to wait to be buzzed in!

Bloozie · 03/10/2025 07:41

The rise in anti-semitism is well-documented, but I don't think yesterday's terror attack is because there is a national culture of it.

I think it's because the terrorist hated what the Israeli government are doing to Palestinian members of his faith, in the name of their faith.

Those people in the synagogue were quietly praying on their holiest day, and the idea that they and other Jews across the country that have never done a thing wrong to any Palestinian, can't observe their faith safely with their community is abhorrent.

But I don't think it's sensible to link faith-based terrorism, to the national picture. It's not like the attacker was a radicalised middle-aged librarian from one of the pro-Palestine marches. This was Islamic terrorism.
