To think that if you commit a male crime, you should do male time, even if you identify as a woman?

TheAvidAmberPeer · 01/10/2025 21:09

I know this is a sensitive topic but I’ve been thinking about how justice systems handle trans women who commit serious crimes, especially violent or sexual offences, and whether it’s fair to house them in women’s prisons. To me, if you were born male and commit a crime typically associated with male offenders, particularly one involving violence against women, it seems like common sense that you should serve time in a male facility. Identity doesn’t erase biology or risk in those cases.

AIBU to think fairness and safety, especially for vulnerable female prisoners, should come before ideology?

Give up "making myself look silly" by challenging pp's completely wrong statements about law, annd providing accurate information instead?
That'll be a no.

Also- the SC ruling was in no way shape or form a "win for trans men". Trans men are just as devastatingly affected by this ruling as trans women.

please just stop talking about things you know nothing about.

Um… transmen got their rights to abortion care, female refuges and rapecrosos centres enshrined in law. That’s a big win right? Before the SC ruling TW could have been refused an abortion as the abortion act talks about “women”. So they are now able to get abortions if needed. Yay!

Alucard55 · 04/10/2025 08:31

Well that clears that up then.

Also I note @Tandora has not answered the question about prison facilities for 'transmen'

And won't. We were both on the other thread😉. I hope @Tandora has a lovely day fighting for the rights of and defending predatory men.

Er no. trans men being refused access to abortion was never a thing - totally hypothetical bollocks invented by people like you who have zero insight into the issues actually affecting trans men.

The impacts of the SC ruling meanwhile are already having devastating impacts on trans men.

I have no interest in defending the rights of predatory men. Trans people are not predators. This is your transphobia speaking:

I really don't have the energy to spell it out for you today. I suggest you read some statements / material from trans actual who speak on behalf of both trans women and trans men.

(of course you won't read this, because you're not actually the least bit interested or concerned about trans men).

You have spent many hours trying to bully women into allowing men into female single sex spaces. Why? Women are saying no. The law says no. You,at best upset about that but it is what it is. You need to learn to deal with that. I’ve sen other threads where you have told women their distress at sharing spaces with males is not important. So why are you prioritising the wishes of males over the needs and wishes of women? Women have said no, they need and want single sex spaces. Why are you so insistent that they give up their sex based legal rights abd allow men into female single sex spaces?

How? They are no longer in danger of being sent to male prison. So there’s that as well. They get access to female crisis centres and refuges.

This is what I was hoping @Tandora could help me with. If "trans women are women" and should be treated as such then surely "trans men are men" and should also be treated as such. Are the trans community fighting for "trans men" to be housed in the male prison estate? Going by @Tandora argument we should affirm "trans" people and this means accepting them for their preferred gender identity. So my logic is telling me that as "trans men" are men they should be housed in the men's prison estate.

Some people of all types are
predators. If I were speaking about Black Lives Matter, and someone said you are supporting predators, would you (correctly) recognise that as flagrantly racist?

Oh yes. But you’ll find @Tandora does not worry about that. The whole point is to get men into women’s female single sex spaces. Transmen are only wheeled out in the arguments in the “if you don’t let men in single sex spaces, you’ll end up within 6 ft 2 bearded transman in there”. And were supposed to say “ ooh nooooooo. Give me the trans identified males in our spaces ”. It’s bonkers.

You really should understand that the Equality Act applies to limited circumstances only. It does not define “man” and “woman” in all contexts.

I sought to invite intelligent debate here. The responses have been uniformly the responses of ignorant playground bullies who only make themselves look stupid. Enjoy your little rant among yourselves.

It defines men and women as male and female and excludes all “trans women” from being women for the purposes of single sex spaces, which is what this entire issue and thread are about, Top Legal Partner.

But I thought words were actual violence and using the wrong words causes people unimaginable distress and trauma. That’s what you have said. Apparently referring to a trans identified male as a man causes horrendous distress. I’m just pointing out I perceive your words as bullying and you are causing me unimaginable distress and trauma. So as you are so concerned about the effect of words on people, you’ll hopefully moderate your tone and language.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 04/10/2025 09:14

Some black men are criminals/predators too. And? You made the blanket statement that trans people
aren’t predators. That was blatantly untrue.

and using the wrong words causes people unimaginable distress and trauma.

Some words, in some context, can be profoundly hurtful. It does not follow that all words are hurtful and no one is allowed to use arguments to express disagreement with each other.

Not sure why I need to explain this to you.
